Xiaomi smartphones (including the Redmi and POCO lines) store a huge amount of data about your activity, from your call and message history to visited sites and geolocation. Over time, this information not only takes up space in the memory of the device, but can become a threat to privacy โ especially if you plan to sell or transfer the phone to another person. However, a complete cleanup of the history on MIUI has nuances: some data is hidden in system partitions, and individual applications (for example, Mi Browser or Google Chrome) store cache regardless of the main settings.
In this guide, we will look at all possible story types on Xiaomi smartphones, from basic (calls, SMS) to hidden (logs, Mi Account data) and show you how to delete them without a trace. The instructions are relevant for MIUI 14/15, but will also be suitable for older versions (with refinements).
1. Clearing call history and SMS
Calls and messages are the most obvious type of story, but even here there are pitfalls. For example, MIUI defaults to sync SMS to the Mi Cloud, so deleting messages on your phone doesn't mean they disappear from your account. To erase data locally and in the cloud, follow these steps:
- ๐ Calls: Open the phone application โ press three points (โฎ) โ Call magazine โ Delete โ Select a range (e.g., "All").
- ๐ฌ SMS/MMS: Go to the messages. โ Keep your finger on any chat room โ Choose all โ Click on the basket. For the cloud: Settings โ Mi Account โ Mi Cloud โ Communications โ Turn off sync.
- ๐ Auto-delete: In Settings โ Annexes โ Communications โ Storage can be configured to automatically delete SMS older 30/90 days.
โ ๏ธ Note: If you use Google Messages instead of the standard app, the history is stored in your Google account. To erase it, go to messages.google.com โ Basket โ Clear it all up.
Remove backups in Mi Cloud
Disable Message Synchronization
Check the Spam folder in messages
Export important chats (if necessary)

2. Delete browser history (Mi Browser, Chrome, Firefox)
Xiaomi browsers not only store your browsing history, but also cookies, cache, autocomplete data, and Mi Browser (preinstalled) syncs with Mi Account, and Google Chrome syncs with Google account, to clear everything without a trace:
| browser | The path to settings | What's removed |
|---|---|---|
| Mi Browser | โฎ โ History โ Clear the data | History, cookies, cache, passwords |
| Google Chrome | โฎ โ History โ Clear history | + site data, files in memory |
| Firefox | โฐ โ History โ Clear recent history | + uploaded files, autocomplete |
Important: Chrome has a hidden option to delete your keyword history.
chrome://history/?q=keywordThen select the necessary records and delete them.

To prevent the browser from saving history in the future, turn on the default incognito mode: in Chrome, this is done through Settings โ Privacy โ Incognito mode.
3. Clean Up App History and Google Activity
MIUI and Google services track what apps you've run, how long you've spent on them, and even your in-app activities.
- ๐ฑ MIUI: Settings โ Annexes โ Application management โ select the application โ Storage โ Clear the data.
- ๐ Google Activity: Go to myactivity.google.com โ date/appendix filter โ Delete.
- ๐ Time of use: Settings โ Digital well-being โ dashboard โ โฎ โ Reset the data.
โ ๏ธ Attention: Cleaning Application Data through Settings โ Storage will delete not only the history, but also all saved settings (for example, logins in games or bookmarks in the browser.

4. Resetting geolocation history and map data
Xiaomi smartphones are constantly recording your location โ even when you're not using the cards.
- Google Maps (Chronicle of Movements)
- Mi Location (Xiaomi geolocation service)
- MIUI Systems Journal.
To clean up everything:
- Google Maps: Open the app โ tap on the avatar โ Your chronicle. โ โ๏ธ โ Remove the entire period.
- Mi Location: Settings โ Privacy โ Permissions โ Geodata โ Clear history.
- System data: Settings โ Additional โ Privacy โ Geodata โ Reset.

5. Delete History via Recovery menu (full reset)
If you need to erase all your data (for example, before selling your phone), standard cleaning through settings is not enough, in which case Recovery Mode, a recovery mode that formats internal memory at a low level, will help.
- Turn off the phone.
- Press the Power button + Volume up until the Mi logo appears.
- In the Recovery menu, select Wipe Data โ Wipe All Data (control โ volume buttons, confirmation โ power button).
- After reset, select Reboot.
โ ๏ธ Warning: This method deletes all information, including files in memory, accounts and network settings. SIM-map SD-card (if used to store data).

6. Clearing cache and temporary files
Cache and temporary files are not directly related to โhistoryโ, but take up to 3-5 GB of memory and may contain fragments of personal data (for example, thumbnails of images or logs of authorization).
- ๐งน Shared cache: Settings โ Storage โ Clean (select "Cash").
- ๐ folder DCIM/.thumbnails: It stores photo/video thumbnails and remove them through any file manager (e.g. Mi File Manager).
- ๐ Autoclean: Include in Settings โ Storage โ Automatic cleaning.
Tip: For deep cleaning, use the SD Maid app (available on Google Play) to find and delete junk files that MIUI can't see.
7. Hidden data: system logs and Mi Account
Even after resetting via Recovery, the phone may still have:
- ๐ System logs (/data/log): Contains records of errors, application launches and network activity.
- ๐ Mi Account data: If the phone was linked to a Xiaomi account, some of the history (such as backups) remains in the cloud.
To remove them:
- For magazines: use ADB-PC required: Adb shell su rm -rf /data/log/* Note: You need root rights.
- For Mi Account: Go to account.xiaomi.com โ Devices โ Delete all data.
