What is NFC and why is it used to transfer files?

You need to configure both devices before you start transferring. Here's the step-by-step instruction:
- Turn on NFC on both phones: Go to Settings → Connections & Sharing → NFC. Activate the NFC switch. Turn on the Quick Transfer option (or Android Beam on older versions of MIUI).

Step-by-step: how to transfer a file via NFC to Xiaomi
When both devices are ready, follow these steps:
- Put your phones back to each other (NFC-chips are located at the top of the body).
- Wait for an audible signal or vibration, which means that the connection is established.
