Recording phone conversations on Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones is a useful feature for recording important conversations, but not all users know exactly where these audio files are stored after saving. Unlike photos or screenshots, call recordings are not displayed in the standard gallery, and their location depends on the version of MIUI, device model and even the recording method (built-in voice recorder or third-party applications).

Xiaomi smartphones based on MIUI 12-14 have a built-in call recording function that is activated in the settings of the Phone application. By default, audio files are saved in a protected system folder, the path to which depends on the firmware version:

Record files are formatted.m4a or.amr and named by template: CallRecord_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS_phone_number.m4a. For example, CallRecord_20260515_143022_79123456789.m4a. Important: If you are using dual SIM-maps, a prefix can be added to the file name SIM1_ or SIM2_.

- Open the Files app and go to Device (or Internal Memory) section.

On devices with MediaTek chipsets (such as Redmi 10C or POCO M5), records are sometimes saved in /Recorders/ instead of the standard folder, due to the peculiarities of integrating audio drivers into firmware.

If the folder with the records is empty, but you are sure that the record was made, check the settings of the Phone application. Sometimes the files are saved to the temporary folder /cache/ and deleted after the restart.

Backup and transfer of records to another device
To save call records when changing your phone or resetting your settings, it is recommended to:
- Copy files to a PC: Connect your phone over USB and transfer the folder with the records to a secure location (for example, to a hard drive or flash drive).
- Use the cloud: Upload files to Google Drive, Mi Cloud or Yandex Drive. You can set up sync via the Automate or Tasker app to automate.
- Export via email: Send important entries to your email as an attachment (convenient for single files).
When transferring to another Xiaomi smartphone, place files in the same folder where they were stored previously (for example, /MIUI/sound_recorder/call_rec/). This will allow you to play them through the standard application of the Record.

Frequent problems and their solutions
Users often face the following difficulties when working with call records on Xiaomi:
- 🔇 No records saved: Check if there is enough space in the internal memory (minimum 100MB required). → Annexes → Phone. → Call recording: Some firmware requires permission to record sound (issued when first run).
