Where to look for downloads in Xiaomi phone: from standard folders to hidden system storage

You downloaded an important document, photo or video, but you can't find it on your Xiaomi? The situation is familiar to many: files seem to disappear in the depths of MIUI, and the standard file manager shows not everything. The problem is complicated by the fact that Redmi, POCO and Mi smartphones store downloads in different places, depending on the source (browser, messenger, mail) and the version of the firmware.

In this article, we will not just list standard folders like Download, but will reveal all possible download storage locations in Xiaomi, including system directories, application cache and even cloud syncs. You will learn how to find files through built-in MIUI 14/15 tools, third-party file managers and hidden Android functions.

1. Standard download folders: where do files are saved by default

To start with, most files downloaded through the browser or messengers go to the Download folder, but Xiaomi may have several:

• 📁 Internal memory. → Download – the main storage for files downloaded through Chrome, Mi Browser or Firefox.
• 📁 Internal memory. → MIUI → Download – an alternative folder for some firmware versions (found on Redmi Note) 10/11).
• 📁 SD-map → Download – if you have set up save on an external drive (check in browser settings!).

Messengers are a separate story, and not only do they save files to hidden folders, they often don't show them to the default gallery.
