Xiaomi Mi Fidget Cube ZJMH02IQI
modular
step-by-step instruction with photo-analogues
The constructor has 6 faces with different mechanisms (buttons, switches, joystick, gears) attached to the central frame. The main difficulty is to correctly orient the grooves and not confuse the assembly order. If you lost the original instructions or it is in Chinese, it is no problem: our guide is suitable even for those who first pick up the Mi Fidget Cube.
β οΈ Warning: Don't put too much effort into building! Plastic latches are fragile - if the part doesn't fit in, you're in the wrong orientation or you missed the step.
Preparation for the Assembly: What You Will Need
Before you start, check the kit of the designer.
- πΉ Central plastic frame (the basis of the cube)
- πΉ 6 facets with mechanisms (each unique)
- πΉ 12 fasteners (usually black)
- πΉ Screwdriver (includes or requires cross #0)
- πΉ Instructions (if retained)
If screws are missing or lost, you can replace them with analogues with a diameter of 1.4 mm and a length of 3-4 mm. Do not use metal screws - they can damage plastic threads!
Also prepare:
- πΈ Smartphone to photograph the process (in handy if you collect it incorrectly)
- πͺ A flat surface (table) with good lighting
- 𧲠Magnet (optional, so as not to lose the screws)
π‘
If the screws are poorly screwed, lubricate the thread with graphite lubricant or wax from a candle - this will facilitate the process and protect the plastic from chipping.
Disassembly of the cube: how not to break the mechanisms
If your Mi Fidget Cube is already assembled but needs cleaning or repair, first carefully disassemble it.
- Put the cube on the table with the joystick up.
- Find a small hole under the screwdriver (near the screw).
- Carefully press the screwdriver to crack the first facet - the rest are removed easier.
β οΈ Warning: Don't pull the edges by force - each has fragile springs (especially in buttons and switches) inside!
Once you've removed all the faces, you'll see a central frame with grooves, and notice the markings (letters or numbers) on the inside of the faces, which will help you get the cube back together properly.
Step-by-step assembly: the order of action
So you're going to have to put the cube in reverse order, you're going to have to put the edges on the frame first, then you're going to have to put the screws on it.
- The face with the joystick is set first, combine the grooves on the edge with the projections of the frame and gently press until you click.
- Frontiers with buttons (2 pieces) - focus on the shape of the grooves. The buttons should "look" outwards.
- Edge with switches - check that the sliders move freely.
- The cog edge is the hardest. Make sure the gear teeth don't cling to the frame.
- The edge with the rotating disk is the last one. It captures all the others.
Once you have all the faces installed, twist the screws cross-cross to avoid skewing. Don't tighten them too tightly - enough so that the edges don't hang around.

Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
Even with the instruction, many users make the same mistakes.
| Mistake. | Reason. | How to fix it |
|---|---|---|
| Cube doesn't add up to the end | The edges are mixed up in places | Check the marking on the inside of the faces |
| No push buttons. | Springs are curved | Disassemble the edge and reinstall the springs |
| The gears are eating. | The dirt got in or the lubricant dried up. | Clean the mechanism with a cotton swab |
| Screws don't screw in. | The carving is skewed | Use a screwdriver with a magnet and screw in at right angles. |
If the cube creaks after assembly, apply 1-2 drops of silicone lubricant to the rubbing parts. Don't use WD-40 - it corrodes plastic!
What to do if you lose your screws?
Cleaning and maintenance of machinery
As time goes by, dust gets into the cube, the mechanisms start to jam, to bring back the original smoothness.
- π§Ή Disassemble the cube and remove the dust with a soft brush (for example, for drawing).
- π§ Wipe plastic parts with a wet wipe (without alcohol!).
- π’οΈ Apply silicone lubrication to gears and moving parts.
- βοΈ Check the springs β if they are deformed, replace them (you can take from ballpoint pens).
Don't wash the cube underwater, it'll get into the machinery and cause metal parts to corrosion, and if you get a liquid inside, take the builder apart and dry it with a dryer in cold mode.
π‘
Regular cleaning (once every 2-3 months) will prolong the life of the mechanisms and save tactile sensations from pressing.
Modifications and upgrades of the cube
The standard Mi Fidget Cube can be improved by:
- π¨ Painting facets β use acrylic paints and varnish to protect.
- π§ Replacement of springs with stiffer ones (for tactile recoil).
- π‘ Lighting - insert miniatures LED-tapes inside the frame (will be fed from powerbank).
- 𧲠Magnetic inserts β add neodymium magnets to fix faces.
To paint, disassemble the cube, paste the mechanisms with paint tape and apply the paint in 2-3 layers. After drying, cover with matte varnish - this will protect against scratches.
β οΈ Attention: When installed LED-Watch the polarity, the wrong connection can burn the diodes.
Where to buy spare parts and analogues
If you have lost parts or want to assemble a second cube, parts can be found:
- π AliExpress β search for βXiaomi fidget cube parts "ZJMH02IQI accessories".
- π¬ Shops 3D-Printing β Some sell replacements for facets.
- π Do-it-yourself β springs from pens, screws from electronic devices.
The average cost of a set of spare parts is 300-500 rubles. If you do not want to wait for delivery from China, look for sellers on Avito or in local handicraft groups.
Check the compatibility of parts before buying! Some analogues may not fit the size of the grooves.
