Xiaomi Mi Band 7 is one of the most popular fitness bracelets on the market, but even such a simple device can have problems turning on. Did you just unpack a new tracker and it does not respond to presses? Or did the bracelet expire to zero and now shows no signs of life? In this article, we will discuss all the ways to activate the Mi Band 7, including forced start after deep discharge, resetting or updating the firmware.
The design of the bracelet is minimalist: there are no physical buttons, and the control is through the touch screen and gestures. This simplifies the design, but sometimes causes confusion for new users. We will explain in detail how to properly enable the Mi Band 7 in different situations, from the first start to recovery from software failures. And if the standard methods do not work, you will find alternative solutions here.
Preparing for the first turn on: what to do before activation
Before you try to turn on the Mi Band 7, make sure that the basic conditions are met. Often the launch problems are not due to a malfunction of the device, but to trivial omissions in the preparation stage.
- π Charge the bracelet. Even if the indicator on the charger is not on, connect the Mi Band 7 to the power source for 10-15 minutes. New devices are sometimes discharged to a level at which the screen does not turn on.
- π± Install the Mi Fitness app. Without it, the bracelet will not activate - you will need to link to your Xiaomi account.
- π Cable malfunction. Use the original charging cable (included). Cheap analogues may not provide the right current.
- π‘οΈ Ambient temperature: If the bracelet was stored in the cold (below) +5Β°C), let it heat up to room temperature before switching on.
Pay special attention to charging. The Mi Band 7 may not show signs of life at a charge level below 3%, even if it is connected to the mains. In this case, leave it on charging for at least 20 minutes - only then try to turn it on. If the indicator on the cable flashes red and then lights up green, then the charging is going correctly.
The standard way to turn on Mi Band 7: step-by-step instructions
If the bracelet is loaded and ready to work, you can turn it on in a few seconds.
- Connect the Mi Band 7 to the charger (if it is discharged). Wait for the charge indicator (battery icon) to appear on the screen.
- Disconnect the bracelet from charging. The screen should go out -- that's okay.
- Touch the touch screen with one finger and hold for 2-3 seconds until you feel a slight vibration.
- After the vibration, the Mi logo will appear on the screen, followed by the main menu.
If the bracelet has already been linked to an account, it will automatically sync to your phone via Mi Fitness. The new device will require customization (more on this in the next section).
Check the charging cable for damage|Connect to another power source (USB-port)|Hold the screen for longer than 5 seconds to force on|Try rebooting the bracelet through the Mi Fitness app-->
Important! Do not use foreign objects (pens, pencils) to turn on the Mi Band 7, this can damage the touch screen. Press only with a light pressure finger pad.
Activate the new Mi Band 7 with the Mi Fitness app
The first activation of the bracelet always requires binding to the Xiaomi account, without which it will only work in a limited mode (showing time and steps).
- Install the Mi Fitness app (available for Android and iOS).
- Sign up or sign in to your Xiaomi/Mi Account.
- Click "Add device" (+) in the upper right corner.
- Select the Mi Smart Band 7 from the list.
- Follow the on-screen instructions: Allow notifications, geolocation, and contacts (optional).
- Wait until the synchronization is complete (it can take up to 5 minutes).
Once successfully anchored, the bracelet will automatically update the firmware (if a new version is available). Don't interrupt this process! Interrupting the firmware update can cause the device to "brick" when it stops turning on at all.
What if Mi Fitness canβt see the bracelet?
Forced Incorporation After Deep Discharge
If the Mi Band 7 is dead and doesn't respond to charging, try a forced start, which works in 80% of cases when the bracelet is "deep sleep."
Instructions:
- Connect the bracelet to the charger and leave for 30-40 minutes (even if the indicator is not on).
- After 40 minutes, turn off the cable and wait 10 seconds.
- Put the bracelet back on the charger, and hold your finger on the screen for 10 to 15 seconds until you feel the vibration.
- If the screen catches fire, wait until it is fully charged (at least 20%); if not, repeat the process again.
If after 2-3 attempts the bracelet is not turned on, the problem may be:
- π Failed battery (replacement required).
- π± Damaged charging cable (try another one).
- π§ Software failure (reset via Mi Fitness required).

If the bracelet is not charging, clean the contacts on the back of the Mi Band 7 with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.Oxidation or dirt can block the current supply.
Resetting settings and resetting the bracelet
If the Mi Band 7 is on but not working properly (hangs, doesn't sync), a software reset will help.
| Method | Instructions | When to use |
|---|---|---|
| Through the wristband menu | Scroll the bracelet screen to the right to "More." Select "Settings" β "Reset." Confirm the action (the bracelet vibrates and resets). | If the bracelet is turned on but glitchy |
| Through Mi Fitness. | Open the app and select your Mi Band 7. Go to Device Settings β Untie. Confirm the untie and add the bracelet as a new device again. | If the bracelet is not synchronized with the phone |
| Hardware discharge | Connect the bracelet to charge. Hold the screen for 20 seconds until the Mi logo appears. Let go and wait for the reboot. | If the bracelet hangs on the logo |
After the reset, all data (except for steps and sleep in the last 7 days) will be deleted.

Resetting does not help if the problem is in the hardware (for example, damaged battery or display).
Frequent mistakes and their solutions
Even after successful activation of the Mi Band 7, there may be problems, and here are the most common ways to fix them:
- β‘ Bracelet not charging: Check the cable and power supply (try charging from your computer). Clear the contacts on the bracelet and cable. Use the original adapter with output 5V/1A.
- π΅ Unconnected to your phone: Restart Bluetooth on your phone. Remove the bracelet from the list of mated devices and add again. Update the Mi Fitness app to the latest version.
- π Hangs on the Mi logo: Perform a hardware reset (hold the screen for 20 seconds). Connect to charging and leave for 1 hour. If it doesn't work, run the bracelet through Mi Fitness.
- π Wrong time: Sync time through the app (Device Profile) β Time settings: Make sure the phone has an automatic date and time on it.
β οΈ Attention! If the bracelet stops turning on after the firmware update, do not try to hand-stitch it through third-party utilities. This can lead to complete loss of performance.
What do you do if nothing helps?
If youβve tried all the ways and Mi Band 7 still doesnβt turn on, the reason could be:
- π Faulty battery β Replacement required (at the service center).
- π§ Moisture intake - even if the bracelet has 5 protection ATM, Long-term exposure to water can damage contacts.
- π± Software failure β sometimes firmware through Mi Fitness helps, but itβs risky without experience.
- π Mechanical damage β cracks on the screen or body can block work.
Before visiting the service center:
- Take a photo of the check or box (for warranty repair).
- Make sure the charger isnβt the problem (try charging the bracelet from a friend).
- Save a backup of the data via Mi Fitness (if the bracelet reacts at all).
β οΈ Warning! Don't disassemble the Mi Band 7 yourself - this voids warranty. The bracelet body is glued together and is not designed for custom repair.
