The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 fitness bracelet remains one of the most popular trackers even years after its release β it is bought for reliability, sensor accuracy and affordable price. However, many users face a typical problem: after purchase, the device displays menus in Chinese, English or another language, and the option to change to Russian is absent in the settings, the reason lies in the firmware region, which is tied to the country of sale.
In this article, we will discuss all the current methods of Russification, from official (via Mi Fit or Zepp Life apps) to alternative (resetting, changing the region of the account). Importantly, the methods differ depending on the version of the firmware of the bracelet and the region of purchase, for example, devices for the European market (EEA) are Russified in 2 minutes, and the Chinese version (CN) may require additional manipulation.
Before you start, check the current language of the bracelet: swipe up the screen, find the icon Settings β More β Language. If there is no Russian on the list, read on.
1.Official method: change the language through Mi Fit or Zepp Life
The easiest method is to use Xiaomiβs branded apps. Itβs suitable for EEA (Europe) or Global (International) firmware bracelets. If your device is from China (CN), skip this section and go to reset.
Step-by-step:
- Install the Mi Fit app (for the Android/iOS) or Zepp Life (new name for the same devices: π± Mi Fit for Android π Mi Fit for iOS π Official website of Zepp Life

"Russian."
β οΈ Note: If the application shows an error "Unsupported region" or the language does not change after the selection, then your bracelet is tied to another region, in which case only resetting the settings with the change in the account will help.
2. Resetting the bracelet to factory settings
If the official method didnβt work, the next step is a hard reset, which will remove all data from the bracelet, including the account binding, and allow you to reconfigure the region, which works for all versions of the Mi Band 5, including Chinese (CN).
How to reset your settings:
- On the bracelet, go to Settings β More β Factory Reset (or swipe up the screen, find the reset icon β it looks like a circle arrow).
- Confirm the action by clicking the tick, the bracelet vibrates and resets.
- After the reboot, untie the device in the Mi Fit/Zepp Life app: Profile β Mi Band 5 β Disable the device.
- Remove the app and install it again (important to change your account region!).
Now, the critical point is the region of your Xiaomi account: if you registered with a Russian or European number, there will be no problems. If your account is linked to China (+86), create a new account with a Russian number (+7) or via email.
Make sure the bracelet is 50%+ charged.

3. Change the firmware region through Mi Fit (for advanced)
This method is suitable for users who have a Mi Band 5 bracelet tied to the Chinese region (CN), but want to reflash it to the European version (EEA).
Instructions:
- Reset the bracelet to factory settings (see previous section).
- Remove the Mi Fit app and install it again.
- When registering, select the region βRussiaβ or βEuropeβ (not China!).
- Connect the bracelet to a new account. The app will suggest updating the firmware, agree.
- After updating, go to the language settings: there will appear Russian.
How to get the message through Notify & Fitness:
- Install the app: π± Notify & Fitness for Android

β οΈ Note: Third-party apps may conflict with official Xiaomi software. If the bracelet stops showing notifications or discharges faster after you connect, return to Mi Fit and reset.
5. Manual firmware update (for experienced users)
This is only a good method if you're confident in your skills and willing to risk the device's performance. Wrong actions can turn the bracelet into a brick! We recommend using it only if all other methods have failed.
What you need:
- π₯οΈ Computer with Windows/macOS.
- π± Smartphone with root rights (for some methods).
- π Bracelet cable (requires an adapter for Mi Band 5).
- π¦ The firmware for your model (you can download it on the XDA Developers).
Step-by-step:
- Download the archive with firmware EEA (for example, mili_pro5.fw).
- Connect the bracelet to your PC via an adapter (or use Bluetooth tools like nRF Connect).
- Using the Mi Band 5 Tool or Gadgetbridge utility, download the firmware to the device.
- Wait until the process is complete (the bracelet will reboot several times).
- After updating, connect the bracelet to Mi Fit and select Russian language.
β οΈ Warning: If there is a failure during firmware (e.g. power out), the bracelet may fail, and can only be restored through Xiaomi Service Center.
π‘
Before you run the firmware, check your bracelet model by serial number (on the box or in the settings).
6. Verification of successful Russification and elimination of errors
After completing any of the methods, check if the language has changed:
- Swipe up the bracelet screen.
- Find the Settings (cog) section.
- Scroll down to the language - there should be Russian.
- Check the notifications, alarms and workout menus β all labels should be displayed correctly.
Common mistakes and their solutions:
| Problem. | Reason. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Language does not change after resetting | CN firmware without Russian support | Update your firmware via Mi Fit with your European account |
| The bracelet does not connect to the application | Conflict with Bluetooth cache | Clear the Mi Fit cache in the smartphone settings |
| After the firmware bracelet does not turn on | Wrong version of firmware | Contact the service center. |
| There is no βRussianβ option in the settings | An outdated version of the app | Update Mi Fit/Zepp Life to the latest version |
If after all the manipulations, the Russian language has not appeared, most likely, your bracelet has a hardware lock (this happens with devices purchased in unofficial stores), in this case, there are two options:
- π Buy a new bracelet with firmware EEA/Global.
- π§ Contact the service center for flashing (cost) ~1000-1500 rubles).

If the bracelet is purchased in the official Xiaomi store (for example, on AliExpress from the Mi Global Store seller), but there is no Russian one, demand a replacement under warranty.
