Xiaomi headphones are some of the most popular smartphone accessories because of their combination of price, sound quality and convenience, but even with these devices, users sometimes have difficulties connecting for the first time, especially when it comes to wireless models that support Bluetooth 5.0+ or hybrid solutions like Xiaomi AirDots Pro 3, which require synchronization between two headphones.
In this article, we’ll look at all the possible ways to connect, from standard Bluetooth pairing to specific cases with wired models (including USB-C → 3.5 mm adapters). Special attention will be paid to the unique “Fast Connection” feature in MIUI 14+, which automatically detects Xiaomi headphones and offers one-click pairing. You will also find solutions to typical problems: why the phone does not see headphones, how to reset them to factory settings, and what to do if the sound is interrupted.
The instructions are relevant for all modern models of Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones (including Xiaomi 14, Redmi Note 13 Pro+ and POCO F6), as well as for AirDots, Buds, FlipBuds and wired Mi In-Ear. If your model is not explicitly mentioned, do not worry: the connection algorithm is universal for 90% of the brand’s devices.
1. Preparation of headphones for connection
Before pairing with the phone, Xiaomi headphones need to be switched to search mode. How to activate this mode depends on the type of device:
- 🔋 Wireless headphones (TWS): It's usually enough to remove them from the case, they will automatically turn on and go into pairing mode. If this does not happen, press the button on the case or touchpad on one of the headphones for 3-5 seconds until the indicator starts flashing white / blue.
- 🎧 Wired headphones with microphone: connect the plug 3.5 mm or USB-C On models without a connector (for example, Xiaomi) 13T) will require an adapter.

2. Standard Bluetooth connection
The most common way is to pair via the Bluetooth menu on the phone, and the algorithm is the same for all Xiaomi smartphones on MIUI 12-14 and HyperOS:
- Open Settings → Bluetooth and activate the switch.
- Make sure the headphones are in search mode (see the previous section).
- In the list of available devices, find the name of your model (for example, "Mi True Wireless Earphones 2") and tap it.

After successful connection, the Bluetooth menu will have a status "Connected", and in the status bar of the phone - the icon of the headphones. If Xiaomi headphones support multipoint (simultaneous connection to two devices), the Bluetooth settings will include the option “Connect to another device” – a feature available in, for example, Xiaomi Buds 4 and FlipBuds Pro.
3. Quick connection to MIUI 14 and HyperOS
Starting with MIUI 14 and the new HyperOS firmware, Xiaomi smartphones support the “Fast Connection” feature for branded accessories.
- Open the case cover with headphones (for TWS) or turn them on.
- A pop-up will appear on the phone screen, suggesting that you plug the device in.
- The system will automatically find the headphones and perform pairing without going to Bluetooth settings.
This feature only works with Xiaomi certified devices (all AirDots, Buds and FlipBuds models after 2020 are on the compatibility list).

- 🔄 Restart your phone and try again.
- 📦 Make sure the headphones have not been connected to the phone before (in this case, fast pairing does not work).

4. Connecting wired headphones
If your Xiaomi headphones are wired (like Mi In-Ear Headphones Pro HD), the algorithm depends on the connector:

5. Sound and control setting

On Xiaomi Buds 3 Pro and later, the “Space Sound” feature is available. Turn it on in the Bluetooth settings for surround sound effect (only works with supported apps, such as Netflix or Tidal).
If the sound seems quiet, check:
- 🔇 Volume level in the player and on the phone (sometimes they are adjusted separately).
- 🧹 Clean earphone speakers (dust and earwax can drown out sound).
- 🔧 Equator settings in Settings → Sound. → equalizer.
6. Solving Connection Problems
If Xiaomi headphones do not connect to the phone, use this instruction:

For a complete reset of Xiaomi headphones (if they don’t respond to buttons or don’t connect):
- Place the headphones in the case and close the lid.

7. Connection to multiple devices (multipoint)
Some Xiaomi headphone models (such as the Buds 4 Pro or FlipBuds Pro) support multipoint, which is a simultaneous connection to two devices (such as a phone and a laptop).
- Connect the headphones to the first device (phone).
- Open Bluetooth settings on the second device and find the headphones in the list.
- Confirm the connection. The headphones will automatically switch the sound to the active device (for example, if you run a video on a laptop, the sound will go there).
To manually switch between devices:
- 📱 On your phone: Open the notification panel and tap the headphone icon, then select "Switch device".
- 💻 On a laptop: in the Bluetooth menu, select headphones and click "Connect".
If the multipoint doesn't work:

8. Update to the headphone firmware

- Install the official Xiaomi Earphones app (available on Google Play and AppGallery).
- Put the headphones on the phone.
- Open the app, if you have an update, you'll see a notification. Follow the instructions on the screen.
During the update:
- 🔋 Make sure the charge of the case exceeds 50%.
- 📶 Don’t move far away from your phone (maximum 1 meter).
- ⏳ Do not interrupt the process – this can cause headphones to fail.
After the update, the headphones will automatically restart. The new firmware version will appear in the Xiaomi Earphones app in the About Device section.
