Losing Xiaomiβs fitness bracelet is a nuisance that many owners face. These compact devices easily slip off their hands during training, sleeping, or even a normal walk. Fortunately, the Mi Band (including the Mi Band 7/8 Pro, Smart Band 8 and earlier versions) has built-in features that help track their whereabouts. In this article, weβll take a look at all the working ways of searching, from standard tools in the Mi Fitness app to non-obvious life hacks.
It's important to understand that search performance depends on whether the Bluetooth is on, whether the battery is charged, and whether it's in range of your smartphone. If the device is dead or out of range (usually 10 to 30 meters), the chances of finding it are reduced, but even then there are options, such as checking the history of synchronization or using third-party services.
We will also tell you how to lock the bracelet in case of theft, what settings will help prevent loss in the future, and what to do if the device still could not be found. 6/7/8, Smart Band 7 Pro and others.
1. Search through the Mi Fitness (Zepp Life) app
The most obvious and quick way is to use the official Mi Fitness app (formerly Zepp Life), which only works if the bracelet is connected to your phone via Bluetooth and is in range.
- Open the Mi Fitness app on your smartphone.
- Go to the Profile tab β My devices.
- Choose your bracelet from the list.
- Slap the icon. π Find the device (or Find Device in English version).
The bracelet will vibrate and emit an audible signal (if the function is enabled in the settings), which will help detect it if it is lying under the couch, in a bag or elsewhere within 10-15 meters.
β οΈ Note: If the bracelet is disconnected from the phone (for example, after resetting or discharging), the search function through the application will not work.

The device is not in "Do Not Disturb" mode.

2. Location history check (if synchronization with Mi Account is enabled)
If your Mi Band was linked to a Xiaomi account, there is a chance to track its last known location.
- Sign in at account.xiaomi.com.
- Go to the Devices section β Activity history.
- Check the latest bracelet sync with your phone.
Unfortunately, Xiaomi doesn't provide an accurate geolocation of the bracelet (unlike smartphones), but you can see the last time you connected and the phone tied to it. If the bracelet is lost at home, it will help narrow down the search, for example, if the last sync was at 18:00 and you noticed it was missing at 20:00, look for it in places where you were in that span.
For Mi Band 7 Pro and newer GPS-enabled models (such as Smart Band 8 Pro), you can try using running or cycling route data if the bracelet was on during exercise.
- π± Open the Mi Fitness app.
- π Go to the Training section. β History.
- πΊοΈ Check the routes of the latest activities - it is possible that the bracelet fell off during the run.
π‘
If you lose things often, turn on the βLost Communication Noticeβ option in your bracelet settings (Settings β Notifications β Disabling the bracelet) and the phone will vibrate if the connection to the Mi Band is interrupted.
3.Use of third-party apps to search for Bluetooth devices
If standard methods don't work, you can use Bluetooth scanner apps that show all the devices available nearby, which is true if the bracelet is on but not connected to your phone (for example, after a reset).
- π Bluetooth Scanner (Android) β shows a list of devices with a signal level (RSSI). The closer the bracelet is, the higher the value.
- π‘ nRF Connect (Android/iOS) β Professional tool for working with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), All of which are equipped with Mi Band.
- π LightBlue (iOS) β analogue for iPhones.
How to use:
- Install one of the apps and turn on Bluetooth on your phone.
- Start scanning β the bracelet should appear in the list as MI Band X (where X is the model).
- Target the signal level (RSSI): if it is above -70 dBm, the device is nearby.
The downside is that these apps only show active devices, if the bracelet is discharged or turned off, it won't show up in the list, and in an apartment building, the scanner can detect the bracelets of neighbors, so focus on the bracelets. MAC-Your device address (can be found in Mi Fitness settings).
How do you know? MAC-The address of the Mi Band?
4. Sound search (if the bracelet is nearby but not visible)
If the bracelet is connected to the phone, but you can't find it visually (for example, it rolled under furniture), you can make it squeak or vibrate by hand.
- π² In Mi Fitness, click Find the device (as in the first method).
- π If the sound is too quiet, place your ear against the floor or wall β the vibration can give you location.
- π‘ Turn on the maximum volume on your phone and repeat the search.
For Mi Band 6 and newer models, the sound can be adjusted in advance:
- Open Mi Fitness β Profile β My Devices β Notification settings.
- Activate the option Sound signals and choose the loudest option.
Important: Xiaomi bracelets are not equipped with speakers - sound is emitted through a vibration motor and body, so in noisy environments it can not be heard. If the bracelet is on a soft surface (for example, on a bed), the vibration will be silenced.
5 What to do if the bracelet is lost forever
If all attempts to find the Mi Band have failed, you have to accept the loss, but before you buy a new one, follow these steps:
- Untie the device from your account: Open Mi Fitness β Profile β My devices. Select a bracelet and tap Delete the device. This will prevent unauthorized access to your data (steps, pulse, etc.).
- Check warranty: If you bought the bracelet less than a year ago, contact the Xiaomi service center with a check. In some cases, the loss is considered a non-warranty case, but you can try to get a discount on a new device.
- Buy loss protection: For a new bracelet, purchase a lock belt (e.g., the Mi Band 8 Pro supports standard 22mm wide straps). Use carbine covers to attach to clothing during training.
β οΈ Warning: If you suspect theft, don't try to track the bracelet yourself, call the police. Unlike smartphones, the Mi Band doesn't transmit. GPS-Real-time coordinates, so self-search is useless and dangerous.

6.How to prevent the loss of a fitness bracelet in the future
To avoid the problem again, follow these tips:
| Problem. | Decision | Models for which it is relevant |
|---|---|---|
| The bracelet slips off his hand. | Use straps with an additional clasp or lock cases | All Mi Band models |
| The battery was discharged at the most inopportune moment. | Enable low charge notifications (Settings β Battery) | Mi Band 5 and newer |
| Lost while swimming. | Buy a float strap or use a waterproof case | Mi Band 7 Pro, Smart Band 8 Pro (with 5 ATM support) |
| No sound of search. | Set up the maximum vibration in Settings β Notifications | All models. |
We also recommend:
- π Sync your bracelet regularly with your phone (at least once a day) to keep your location data up to date.
- π Tie an AirTag or other Bluetooth tracker (such as the Mi Smart Tag) to your bracelet if you lose it frequently.
- π Watch the level of charge - a discharged bracelet is almost impossible to find.

The most reliable way to avoid losing the Mi Band is to use double-zip straps and include notifications about the break in connection with the phone.
