How to turn off the alarm on your Xiaomi phone: all the ways (including emergency)

Why does Xiaomi’s alarm clock not always turn off the first time?

Xiaomi smartphones (including the Redmi and POCO lines) use the proprietary MIUI shell, where the standard Watch app has alarm clock control features. Unlike the “bare” Android, here the signal can continue to sound even after pressing the cancel button — this is due to energy optimizations and background processes. For example, if you set an alarm through the voice assistant XiaoAI, its cancellation requires different actions than for a normal signal.

Another common problem is the alarm clock freezes after the MIUI update. Xiaomi 13 Pro and Redmi Note 12 users often complain that the screen does not respond to touch during the signal operation, in which case you have to use hardware buttons or even reboot. Next, we will analyze all the working methods from basic to emergency.

Method 1: Standard shutdown through the alarm screen

The most obvious method is to interact with the Clock interface while the signal is triggered, and a large Cancel or Stop button (depending on the MIUI version) will appear on the screen, but there are nuances:

  • 🔄 If the screen is locked, swipe up first to unlock the device (some models have a double tapa).
  • ⏱️ V MIUI 14/15 Cancellation button may be hidden under the weather banner – swipe it to the left.
  • 🔊 Nana POCO F5 Xiaomi 12T The button is on the right and the button is on the left (do not confuse!).

If the screen does not respond to touch, try:

  1. Pressing the physical power button 1 time will wake the display.
  2. Hold the Volume Down + Power button for 3 seconds to force unlock.

Check if Do Not Disturb mode is enabled |Push the power button 1 time |Keep the volume down + power 3 seconds |Put the charge on (sometimes helps)

⚠️ Attention: Xiaomi Civi 3 and Redmi K60 post-update MIUI 15 A bug appears - the alarm continues to sound even after clicking Cancel. In this case, use Method 3 (forced app stop).

Method 2: Cancellation through the notification panel

If you missed the alarm or the screen is not responding, check the notification panel:

  1. Swipe down from the top edge of the screen to open the curtain.
  2. Find a notification with the name of the alarm clock (for example, “Alarm clock: 7:00”).
  3. Swipe it to the left or click Cancel.

On MIUI 14 and later, the notification may be grouped under the heading “Clock”. Deploy the group to see the active alarms. If the notification is not available, the signal was stopped automatically (for example, after 10 minutes of continuous sound).

Xiaomi 13/13 Pro15 minutes.90 dB
POCO X5/F58 minutes.88 dB
Xiaomi Pad 620 minutes.80 dB

Method 3: Forced Stop of the Clock App

If the alarm continues to sound despite all the manipulations, the radical method is to stop the application process, which will help even if the interface freezes:

  1. Open Settings → Applications → Application Management.
  2. In the search bar, type “Clock” and select the system application com.android.deskclock.
  3. Press Forced Stop. → OK.

At MIUI 15, the path changed a bit:

Settings → Applications → View all applications → Three dots (menu) → Show system → Watch

⚠️ Warning: After a forced stop, all active alarms will be reset. If you have repeated alarms set up (for example, for every weekday), they will have to be recreated. To avoid this, back up the settings through Settings before stopping. → Memory. → Backup.

What if the “Forced Stop” button is inactive?
This means that the Clock app is protected by the system as critical. In this case: 1. Reboot the phone by holding the power button. 2. Or disconnect the device from the network (if it was on charge) - sometimes this resets the hanging processes.

Method 4: Disconnecting via voice assistant XiaoAI

If the alarm was set through XiaoAI's voice assistant (e.g., "Set the alarm for 8am"), standard cancellation methods may not work.

  • 🎤 Say “Cancel the alarm clock” or “Switch off all alarm clocks».
  • 🔇 If the microphone is disabled, open the XiaoAI app and type the same command in the text box.
  • ⚙️ Check the assistant settings: Settings → Passive listening → Alarms – All voice signals can be controlled here.

On the Redmi K50 and Xiaomi 12S Ultra, the voice assistant can conflict with the standard Watch app. If the alarm clock is duplicated (sounds twice), turn off integration into Settings → Applications → XiaoAI → Resolutions → Alarm clocks.

💡

If XiaoAI doesn't recognize the command, try rephrasing: instead of "Cancel the alarm clock," say "Delete all my alarm clocks." Sometimes it works better.

Method 5: Emergency measures – reset or reset

In extreme cases, when the alarm clock sounds continuously and no methods help, it remains:

  1. Forced Reboot: Hold the Power + Volume button upwards for 10-15 seconds until the phone turns off and starts loading.
  2. Extraction SIM-maps (in some models, this interrupts the sound).
  3. Resetting the settings of the “Clock” application: Settings → Apps → Clock → Storage → Reset

On the POCO M5 and Redmi A2 after a forced reboot, time may be lost - check it in the settings and, if necessary, enable Autosynchronization of the date and time.

⚠️ Note: On the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 and other foldable models, a forced reboot can cause the external screen to temporarily fail. If this happens, wait 2-3 minutes or connect the device to charge.

💡

Forced reboot is the last option, as it interrupts all background processes, including incomplete system updates.

How to Cancel Repeated Alarm on Xiaomi

If the alarm is set to work on a daily basis (for example, on working days), it requires other actions:

  1. Open the watch app → the alarm tab.
  2. Find the desired signal in the list and swipe it to the left (or click on the basket icon).
  3. To turn off without deleting, uncheck the tick next to the days of the week (for example, “Pn”, “W”).

MIUI 15 has a Smart Alarms feature that automatically cancels the signal at the weekend to set it up:

Watch → Alarm clock → Settings (⚙️) → Smart alarm clocks → Insert
Action.The result
Switch the alarm to the leftDelete it forever.
Check off the days of the weekIt will only be off for selected days.
Press the alarm clock. → «Put off»Transfer the signal for 5/10 minutes
Press the alarm clock. → «Change» → «Just once»Turns repetitive into disposable

Frequent problems and solutions

Problem 1: The alarm goes off without sound.

Solution: Check:

  • 🔈 The volume level of the alarm clock (separate slider in Settings) → Sound).
  • 🔔 Do Not Disturb (Settings) → Notifications → Don't disturb).
  • 🎵 Selected melody (some files may be damaged).

Problem 2: The alarm clock is triggered an hour earlier/late.

Solution: This is due to automatic winter/summer time switching.

Settings → Additional → Date and time → Remove the tick from “Autodetermination”

Problem 3: After the MIUI update, all alarm clocks disappeared.

Solution: Restore them from a backup or sync them with your Xiaomi account:

Settings → Xiaomi Account → Synchronization → Watch

💡

If the alarm doesn’t sound but the vibration is working, check the connected headphones – sometimes the default sound is directed to them.

Can I turn off the alarm on a Xiaomi phone?
No, if the phone is completely off, the alarm clock won't work. However, in Flight Mode or with the battery running low, the signal will not sound either, except for models with Always On Display (such as the Xiaomi 13 Ultra), where the alarm can be displayed on the screen even when the device is off (but without sound).
Why does Xiaomi’s alarm clock work twice?
This is due to the duplication of signals in: Standard Watch App. Voice Assistant XiaoAI. Third-party apps (like Google Clock). Check all sources and turn off unnecessary alarms. MIUI 14 also has a duplicate bug after the update, in which case the reset of the Watch app will help.
How to prevent the alarm clock from going off on the weekend?
There are two ways: When creating an alarm clock, uncheck the SB and All. Turn on Smart Alarms (available on MIUI 15): Watches → Settings → Smart Alarms. POCO X4 Pro and Redmi Note 11 Pro+ can also set calendar exceptions (such as cancellations during the holidays).
Can I set an alarm on Xiaomi through Google Assistant?
Yes, but with reservations: The voice command "OK Google, set the alarm for 7:00" will create a signal in the Google Clock app. To activate it when the screen is off, allow auto-start for Google Clock in Settings → Apps → Permissions → Auto-Start. On MIUI 14 and later Google, the Assistant can conflict with XiaoAI - select one default assistant.
Why did all the alarm clocks disappear after the reset?
When a full reset is deleted, all user data, including alarm settings, is deleted. To avoid this: Before reset, back up through Settings → Memory → Backup. Or sync the alarm clocks with your Xiaomi account (in the Watch app settings). On Xiaomi 12S and 13 Pro, you can also export alarm clocks to.csv via the Watch menu → Settings → Export.
