Owners of Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco smartphones often face a situation where, after updating the system or accidental action, the usual application icons disappear from the screen. The desktop may look empty, and icons disappear from the application menu, which causes panic in the user. However, in most cases, application shortcuts are not permanently deleted, but only hidden or moved due to a malfunction of the system launcher.

Checking Hidden Applications and Display Modes
The first thing to do if shortcuts are missing is to make sure they are not hidden manually or automatically. There is a Hidden Apps feature in the MIUI shell that allows you to remove icons from the desktop and menus by hiding them in a special folder, which is usually accessed via a swipe with two fingers in the app menu or through security settings.
It's also worth checking if the Easy Mode or Kids Mode mode is on, which drastically changes the interface, leaving only the most necessary elements on the screen.
