The NFC module in Xiaomi Redmi 9T allows you to pay for purchases with a single touch — without a card, cash or even unlocking the screen. But many owners face problems: the module does not detect in the settings, the banking application refuses to work, the terminal does not read the payment. In this article, we will analyze all the steps of NFC configuration — from checking hardware support to linking cards to Google Pay, SberPay and other services.
It’s important to understand that Redmi 9T came in a few versions, and not all of them are equipped with an NFC chip. We’ll show you how to check for a module without disassembling your phone, and also explain why even if it is available, payment may not work (spoiler: firmware, region or bank are to blame). If you have already tried to set up contactless payments and got an error, at the end of the article there is a section with solutions to 90% of typical problems.
1.Verify NFC support in Xiaomi Redmi 9T
Before you set up your payment, make sure your Redmi 9T supports NFC at all.

How to check:

- Go to Settings → About Phone → Full Specification. If there is an item "NFC" on the list, the module is present.
- Install the NFC Tools app from the Play Market, and when it launches, it will immediately show if the chip is detected.
Note: If you bought the phone in China, India or through unofficial vendors, the odds of not having NFC are 80 percent, and the only way to add a module is to seller and replace the motherboard with an NFC version, which will cost more than the smartphone itself.
2. Activation of NFC in the smartphone settings
If you have a module, you need to turn it on. In Redmi 9T with MIUI 12/13/14 firmware, the path to NFC settings may be different.
- Open the settings (cog icon on the desktop).
- Go to Connect and Share (or Wireless Networks in older versions of MIUI).

For Redmi 9T, the best choice is Google Pay or SberPay. The first is universal, the second is reliable for Sberbank customers. Mir Pay is suitable if you have a card of the national payment system.
Important: Some banks (e.g. Gazprombank) block Google Pay card binding on phones with unlocked bootloader or root rights, and if you have previously changed firmware, this can cause an error.
4. Google Pay Step-by-step setup on Redmi 9T
Consider map binding via Google Pay, the most popular service, and the instructions are relevant for the 2026 version of the app:
- Download Google Pay from the Play Market.
- Open the app and log in to your Google account (required to be the one linked to your phone).
- Tap Add a map → Credit or debit card.
- Scan the card with the camera or enter the data manually (number, expiration date, CVC).
- Confirm the binding via SMS or push notification from the bank.
- Come up with it. PIN-payment code (to be requested for an amount exceeding 1000)₽).
After adding the map:
- 📲 Go to Settings. → Security → Lock the screen and install it. PIN, A pattern lock or a fingerprint, and without a lock on the screen, contactless payments won't work!

If Google Pay issues an error, “This device is not supported,” try clearing the app’s cache in Settings → Apps → Google Pay → Memory → Clear the cache. If it doesn’t help, check if the bootloader is unlocked (fastboot oem device-info in ADB).
5. SberPay and Mir Pay setup
For SberPay:
- Install the latest version of Sberbank Online.
- Sign in and go to the Payments section → SberPay.
- Follow the instructions on the screen (SMS confirmation is required).
- Enable the option of Payment without unlocking in SberPay settings.
For Mir Pay:
- Download the Mir Pei app.
- Link the map of the world through the menu My cards.
- Confirm the binding with a code from SMS.
- Activate Contactless Payments in the application settings.
Note: If you use Mir Pay, make sure that the payment terminal selects Mir mode (not all stores support this system by default). Otherwise, the payment may not pass despite the successful reading of the phone.
6. Solving NFC and Contactless Payment Issues
If the payment does not work after setting up, check the following points:

- Find NFC Service and clear the cache + data.
- Reboot the phone.

7.Contactless payments security: how to protect money
NFC-Payment is convenient, but requires a high level of attention to security:

Critical vulnerability: In 2023, there were cases of NFC data theft through “listening” to a signal at a distance of up to 10 cm. To protect yourself, use cases with metallized mesh or turn off the module in public places.
If the phone is stolen:
- Block the cards immediately through the bank application or by hotline number.
- Delete your device from your Google account (for Google Pay).
- Restore access to Mi Account and remotely lock your phone through Find Device.
