Have you just purchased a Xiaomi smartphone and noticed that the lock screen or home screen does not display the watch? or want to change its style, size or position? In this article, we will discuss all possible ways to set and adjust time on Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices β from basic parameters to hidden features of the MIUI shell.
The problem with displaying the watch can occur after updating the firmware, resetting the settings, or even due to accidental change of parameters. We're going to look at not only the standard methods through the settings menu, but also alternative solutions -- like how to return a watch if it's gone after installing a third-party theme or launcher (AOD) We provide separate instructions for setting up a constant display of time.
Important: The instructions in this article are relevant for MIUI 12, 13 and 14 (including global and Chinese versions). If your smartphone is running on an older version of the shell, some menu items may differ, as we will mention.
1. Basic clock setting on the lock screen
By default, the watch is displayed on the lock screen of all Xiaomi smartphones, but it can be hidden or changed to return or adjust the display time:
- Open the Settings app (cog icon).
- Go to Lock Screen (or Lock and Password β Lock screen settings in some versions of MIUI).
- Slip on the item Clock style or Clock on the lock screen.
- Choose one of the suggested styles (digital, analog, minimalist, etc.) In some firmware, you can change the color, size and position of the watch.
If you don't have a Watch Style menu, you've got a simplified version of MIUI (e.g., for the European region) installed on your device.
- πΉ Try updating your firmware to the latest version through Settings β The phone. β Updating the system.
- πΉ Install an alternative launcher (like Nova Launcher) that supports watch widgets.
- πΉ Use third-party applications to customize the lock screen (we will talk about them below).
β οΈ Note: Some Xiaomi models (e.g. Redmi Note 10 Pro) POCO X3 Pro after updating to MIUI 14 hours on the lock screen can be reset to a standard look. This is due to the optimization of the shell. To avoid the problem, make a backup of the themes in Settings before updating. β Theme.
2. Customize the clock on the main screen (via widgets)
On the home screen (desktop), the clock doesn't show up by default -- you have to add it manually through widgets. Here's how to do this:
- Press and hold your finger to the free space on the main screen.
- In the menu that appears, select Widgets.
- Scroll through the list to the Watch section (or System Widgets β Watch).
- Select your favorite style (like a 4Γ2 Analog Watch or a 2Γ1 Digital Watch) and drag it to the screen.
If there is no clock in the widget list, it can mean:
- πΉ The device has a third-party launcher (such as Google Now Launcher) that does not support Xiaomi system widgets.
- πΉ Widgets disabled in launcher settings. Try resetting launcher settings in Settings β Annexes β Application management β Launcher.
- πΉ Installed custom firmware (for example, LineageOS), which does not have branded widgets Xiaomi.
For devices with MIUI 14, additional widget styles are available, including dynamic clocks with animations.

3. Always-On Display (AOD): How to configure a permanent display of time
The Always-On Display (AOD) feature allows you to display hours, dates and notifications on the screen even when off. It is available on most flagship and some mid-budget Xiaomi models, such as the Xiaomi 13, Redmi K50 Pro or POCO F5.
To activate the AOD:
- Go to Settings β Lock screen β Always-On Display.
- Activate the switch Always on the screen.
- Select the display style of the watch (options with stopwatch, animation, custom colors are available).
- Set up an AOD schedule (for example, only at night or at certain hours).
If the Always-On Display option is not on the menu, it means that your model does not support the function at the hardware level.
How to turn on AOD on unsupported models
| Xiaomi model | Support for AOD | Features |
|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi 12/13/14 | β Yes. | Animation support, color selection, notification display |
| Redmi K50 Pro | β Yes. | Only basic watch styles, no animations |
| POCO F4/F5 | β Yes. | It only works on AMOLED-screen |
| Redmi Note 11/12 | β No. | Can be enabled through third-party apps (see spoiler above) |
β οΈ Attention: On devices with LCD-screen (e.g. Redmi) 9A or POCO M4 Pro) function AOD It will drain the battery very much, because the screen cannot display black without backlighting. Use it only when you're connected to a charger.
4.The clock is missing from the screen: causes and solutions
If the watch suddenly disappeared from the lock screen or home screen, the reasons may be as follows:
- πΉ System application failure. System interface is most often the fault MIUI (com.miui.home).
- πΉ Some custom themes from Xiaomi Themes store may hide the watch.

- πΉ Disabling system widgets through Settings β Annexes β Application management.
Solutions for each of the problems:
System application failure
- Go to Settings β Applications β Application Management.
- Find the MIUI (or Launcher) system interface.

- Go to Settings β Lock screen β Watch style.
- Choose a style marked Dynamic.
- Configure data sources (e.g., link to the Weather app).

- πΉ To save battery, turn off animation in the widget settings.
β οΈ Attention: Apps like KWGT or UCCW They can significantly increase battery consumption (up to 10-15% per day) if you use complex animations or update data every second.
