In fact, modern Mi TVs (including Mi TV 4A, Mi TV 5, Mi TV Q1 and Mi TV P1) feature an intuitive interface that makes it easier to find both on-air and cable channels. However, even with a friendly menu, users often face typical problems: no signal, channels are not saved or not all available multiplexes. In this article, we will analyze all the ways to connect channels, from basic automatic search to manually configuring satellite broadcasts, and give tips on how to eliminate errors.
It is important to understand that the setup process may vary depending on the type of connection (antenna, cable TV, satellite) and the region of broadcasting. For example, in Russia and CIS countries, DVB-T2 is used for on-air broadcasting, while in Europe other formats may be used. We will take these nuances into account and provide universal instructions relevant to Xiaomi TV based on Android TV and Google TV (including the latest updates in 2026).
Preparing Xiaomi TV for channel search
Before you start setting up channels, make sure your Xiaomi TV is ready for the procedure, which will save you most of the trouble during the search phase.
First, check the physical connections:
- π‘ For on-air TV, connect the antenna to the RF IN connector (usually located on the back). Use a 75 Ohm wave-resistance cable.
- πΊ For cable TV, if the provider requires a set-top box, connect it via HDMI or AV. If the broadcast is going directly over the cable, use the same RF IN.
- π°οΈ For satellite TV, connect the receiver to the HDMI- port and the antenna cable to the LNB IN receiver.
Second, update your TV software, and the outdated firmware may not support new broadcast standards (e.g. HEVC for DVB-T2), to check for updates:
- Go to Settings β About TV β System Update.
- Click Check for updates and install them if available.
π‘
If after the update, Xiaomi TV stopped finding channels, reset the TV tuner settings in the Settings menu β Channels β Reset the tuner settings.
It is also recommended to reset the tuner to the factory, if you have previously tried to configure the channels, this will clear the memory of possible conflicts.
Settings β Channels β Additional settings β Resetting tuner settingsAutomatic search for over-the-air (DVB-T2) channels
Digital TV (DVB-T2) is the most common way to watch TV channels without a subscription fee. In Russia and most CIS countries, broadcasting is in two multiplexes (packages), each of which contains 10 channels, setting up takes no more than 5 minutes.
To start an automatic search:
- Open the Settings menu (cog in the upper right corner).
- Select Channels β Channels β Channels β TV.
- Please indicate the country (for example, Russia or Ukraine) and the region (if any).
- Select Automatic Search and confirm the start of the procedure.
Xiaomi TV will scan all available frequencies sequentially and save the channels found. In the search process, the progress scale and signal level will be displayed on the screen. If the signal indicator shows 0% or No signal, check:
- π Correct connection of the antenna (the cable may have departed).
- π Location of antenna (to be directed to the nearest tower).
- π οΈ Cable integrity (inflections or insulation damage degrade signal).
If the TV finds only one multiplex (10 channels instead of 20), try manually adding a second packet. To do this, select Manual Search from the channel settings menu and enter the frequency of the second multiplex for your region (for example, 554 MHz for Moscow).
Configuring cable channels (DVB-C)
Cable TV (DVB-C) requires a connection to the providerβs network and, as a rule, a subscription fee. Unlike on-air TV, you may need additional parameters that your operator provides (for example, Rostelecom, MTS TV or Beeline TV).
Instructions for setting:
- Go to Settings β Channels β Channels β Cable TV.
- Select Automatic Search.
- Enter the parameters provided by the provider: Symbolic speed (e.g. 6875 ks/s). Frequency (e.g. 322 MHz). Modulation (typically 256 QAM).
Start the search and wait until it is completed.
If the provider uses encoded channels (such as NTV-Plus or Tricolor via cable), you will need a CAM- module and smart card. insert the module into the appropriate slot on the TV (if any) and follow the operator's instructions.
Clarify the parameters with the provider | Connect the cable to the RF IN | Enter symbolic speed and frequency | Check for the presence of CAM- module (if you need paid channels) | Run automatic search-->
If no channels are found, check:
- π Correctness of the entered parameters (an error in even one character will cause a failure).
- π Connecting the cable to the correct connector (some providers require a connection via a console).
- π Availability of subscription fees (some channels may be blocked if late).
Manual Channel Configuration: When and How to Use
Automatic search doesn't always do the job, for example, if the broadcast tower is far away or the signal is weak, the TV may miss some channels, and manual adjustment helps in these cases.
To add the channel manually:
- Go to Settings β Channels β Channels β Manual search.
- Select the broadcast type (DVB-T2, DVB-C or DVB-S for satellite).
- Enter the parameters: Frequency (for example, 498 MHz for the first multiplex in Moscow), bandwidth (usually 8 MHz), search mode (Network or Transponder).
Search
For convenience, we have collected multiplex frequencies for major cities in Russia in the table:
| Town | First multiplex (RTRS-1) | Second multiplex (RTRS-2) |
|---|---|---|
| Moscow | 546 MHz | 498 MHz |
| St. Petersburg | 770 MHz | 794 MHz |
| ekaterinburg | 602 MHz | 578 MHz |
| Novosibirsk | 570 MHz | 618 MHz |
| Kazan | 554 MHz | 474 MHz |
If you are not sure about the frequencies for your region, you can check them on the RTRS website (enter the name of the settlement in the search box).
How to find out the frequency of multiplex without the Internet?
Once you've manually added the channels may be displayed in the wrong order to sort them out:
- Open the channel list (TV button on the remote).
- Click OK on the remote and select Edit.
- Move the channels using the Up/Down buttons.
- Save the changes.
Satellite link connection (DVB-S/S2)
Satellite TV requires a satellite antenna (plates), a receiver (if the TV does not directly support DVB-S2), and the correct transponder settings. Most Xiaomi TV models (such as the Mi TV 5 Pro or Mi TV Q2) have a built-in satellite tuner, but some older versions may need an external receiver.
To set up satellite channels:
- Connect the antenna cable to the LNB IN connector on the receiver or TV.
- Go to Settings β Channels β Channels β Satellite TV.
- Select a satellite from the list (e.g. Eutelsat 36E for Tricolor TV or ABS-2 for NTV Plus).
- Enter the transponder parameters: Frequency (e.g. 12226 MHz for Tricolor). Symbolic speed (27500) Polarization (Left (L) or Right (R)).
Run a channel search.
If the channels are not there, check:
- π‘ The direction of the antenna (it must be precisely oriented to the satellite).
- π Cable quality (use coaxial cable with minimal losses).
- π§ DiSEqC settings (if multiple satellites are used)
π‘
To view encoded satellite channels (such as Tricolor or NTV-Plus), you will need a CAM- module and a smart card operator. Without them, you will only be able to view open channels.
Once searched successfully, the satellite channels will be available in a general list, distinguishable by the satellite logo or operator name (e.g., Tricolor: Channel One).
Solving problems with finding and displaying channels
Even when properly configured, the channels may not work properly, either to disappear, to brake, or to be displayed without sound, and let's look at the typical problems and how to fix them.
Problem 1: The channels are not there at all.
- π Check the antenna/cable connection (try another connector or cable).
- πΆ Make sure the signal level is not 0% (in the channel settings menu).
- π Restart the TV (Settings) β On TV. β Reboot).
Problem 2: Not all channels are found.
- π Run an additional search in the channel settings menu.
- π‘ Check if the TV supports the HEVC standard (required for the second multiplex).
- π§ Manually add the missing frequencies (see table above).
Problem 3: Canals are slowing or freezing
- πΆ Check the signal strength (must be at least 60%).
- π Switch to another signal source (e.g., from DVB-T2 to IPTV).
- π οΈ Update your TV firmware (outdated software may not handle streaming properly).
What if Xiaomi TV doesnβt save channels after searching?
If none of these methods worked, try alternative viewing methods:
- π₯οΈ IPTV: Connect via applications like SS IPTV or Lazy IPTV.
- π± Mobile operators: use set-top boxes from MTS, Beeline or MegaFon.
- π Online services: Watch channels via YouTube, Wink or Okko.
Additional settings: sorting, parental control, favorites
