In this article, we will analyze all the current ways to disable the T9 – from basic settings to hidden parameters of the developer, and explain why the function sometimes returns on its own.
It's important to understand that the T9 is not just an auto-replacement, but a suite of technologies, including predictive input, typo fixing and personalized prompts. At Xiaomi, this feature can be implemented in different ways depending on the version of MIUI and the keyboard installed. For example, MIUI 15 on Xiaomi 13 Pro has a different path to settings than MIUI 14 on the Redmi Note 12. We took these nuances into account and prepared universal solutions.

- 📝 Select Text Input (or Text Correction in Mi Keyboard).
- ❌ Disable the following options: Auto-Replacement (or Auto-Adjustment) Entering Tips (predictive input) Personalized Tips (if any)
Attention! On some Xiaomi models (like the POCO X5 Pro), the Auto Replace option can be split into two: Basic Auto Replacement and Advanced Auto Replacement. Disable both - otherwise the T9 will work partially, fixing only obvious typos.

2. Reset keyboard settings to factory
If the T9 function continues to work after it's turned off, there may be a problem with cached data or a lost setting, in which case resetting the keyboard will help, and this method won't delete your texts or dictionaries, but will return all input settings to the "post-purchase" state.
How to reset:
- Go to Settings → Applications → Application Management.
- In the search bar, type Gboard (or Mi Keyboard if you use a branded keyboard).
- Select the keyboard app and open the Warehouse.
- Click Clear the cache and Reset the settings (if any).
- Reboot your smartphone.

3. Disable T9 through Developer Modes
If standard methods don't work, you'll have to go to hidden settings. MIUI has developer options that allow you to jam system prompts, including T9, which is suitable for advanced users, because it requires activation of the developer mode.
