Xiaomi 12 smartphones running MIUI are known for their functionality, but many users are annoyed by the built-in advertising in system applications. Even in new models, the brand continues to mount the interface with banners in Settings, Weather, Themes and other standard services. This article will help completely remove advertising blocks by legal methods without root rights and the risk of losing warranty.
We tested all the current ways on Xiaomi 12 (including 12 Pro and 12 Lite) with MIUI 14/15 firmware based on Android 13/14. Importantly, some methods require a PC connection, but most settings are available directly on the phone. If you are willing to spend 10-15 minutes, the ads will disappear from:
- 📱 Block screen (advertising notifications)
- ⚙️ System Applications (Security, Cleanup, Topics)
- 🌐 Mi Browser and Weather
- 📥 Notification centers (sponsored push messages)
Before you start, check out MIUI: Settings → About Phone → MIUI version. If you have global firmware (EEA/RU), some of the ads may already be disabled by default — but not all. Chinese versions (CN ROM) will require additional steps.
1. disable personalized advertising in MIUI settings
The easiest way to reduce banner count is to deactivate the personalization of ads in the Settings menu, which won't take away all ads, but will reduce their frequency and relevance.
- Open Settings → Google → Advertising.
- Click “Disable Personalized Ads”** and confirm your choice.
- Return to the main Settings menu and go to Memory → Cleanup.
- Stick to three points (⋮) in the upper right corner and select "Settings»**.
- Turn off the "Show recommendations" option**.
These actions will block data collection for targeted advertising, but will not remove all banners. For example, in the Topics app, the ads will remain – they are removed in other ways (see Section 3).
⚠️ Warning: After disabling personalization, some services (such as Mi Video) may show random commercials instead of tailored to your interests. MIUI.
2. Manual disabling of advertising in each system application
MIUI integrates ad units into most standard utilities, and you have to manually go through each application to remove them, and here's a list of the most "advertising" services and how to clean them:
| Annex | The path to settings | What to turn off |
|---|---|---|
| Topics | Profile → Settings (⚙️) → Recommendations | Turn off “Show recommendations” and “Advertising banners” |
| Weather. | Settings (⚙️) → Additionally. | Disable “Facts of Interest” and “Sponsored Content” |
| Mi Browser browser | Settings → Additional → Privacy | Remove the ticks from “Personalized News” and “Advertising Notices” |
| Security | Settings (⚙️) → Recommendations | Disable “Show Advice” and “Partner Content” |
After applying these settings, restart your phone. The ads will not disappear immediately — MIUI It can cache banners up to 24 hours. If the ads are left after a day, go to the method of c. ADB-teams (section 4).

3. Use of hidden MIUI settings (code ##)
Xiaomi 12 has a hidden debugging menu where you can deactivate advertising services, which works on global and Chinese versions of MIUI, but requires caution that improper changes can disrupt the stability of the system.
Instructions:
- Open the phone app and enter the combination: ##4636##
- In the menu that appears, select “Phone Information”**.
- Scroll down to the Debugging MIUI section and tap it 5 times in a row until the Developer Mode is activated notification appears.
- Return to the main Settings menu, open Additional → for developers.
- Find the option to “Disable MIUI Ads” (which may be called “Disable MIUI Ads”) and activate it.
This method removes up to 80% of system advertising, but does not affect sponsored notifications from Mi Push Service.
⚠️ Attention: In Chinese firmware (CN ROM) Item "Switch off advertising" MIUI»** It may be absent. In this case, use it. ADB-Or reflash the phone to the global version.
What to do if the hidden menu is not opened?
4. Disabling Advertising through ADB (without root rights)
The most effective way to remove all advertising is to use it. ADB-This is Google's official tool, which doesn't require superuser rights. It works on Xiaomi 12 with any firmware, but you'll need a computer with drivers installed.
Step-by-step:
- Download Platform Tools (the official Google package) and unpack the archive.
- On the phone activate "Debugging by" USB»**: Settings → The phone. → Version. MIUI (Slip 7 times, then Settings → Additionally. → For developers → Debugging by USB.
- Connect Xiaomi 12 to your PC via cable (use the original cord!) and in the folder with the platform-tools, launch cmd (hold Shift + right mouse button → Open command window**).
- Enter the following commands in turn (click Enter after each):
adb devices
adb shell pm hide com.miui.systemAdSolutionIf the first command returned the serial number of the device, and the second executed without errors, the advert is turned off. To check, restart the phone. If the banners are left, use the extended list of commands:
adb shell pm hide com.xiaomi.midrop
adb shell pm hide com.miui.analytics
adb shell pm hide com.miui.msa.global
adb shell pm hide com.miui.systemAdSolutionThese commands disable not only ads, but also some analytics services Xiaomi, which can affect the work of the Mi Cloud and data synchronization.
adb shell pm unhide com.miui.systemAdSolution💡
Before using ADB, back up important data. While the method is safe, there is always a risk of failure when connecting to your PC. Use Settings → Google → Backup or Mi Mover app for backup.
5. Blocking Sponsorship Notifications (Mi Push Service)
Even after you turn off all ads in the interface, you can receive sponsored push notifications from Mi Push Service, which are sent through the system service and are not blocked by standard methods.
- Install the App Inspector app from Google Play.
- Open the app and find it in the list of com.xiaomi.mipush.sdk.
- Slip it and select “Disable”** (if the option is not available, skip the step).
- Go to Settings → Applications → Application Management.
- Find Mi Push Service, open its settings and:
- 🔕 Turn off "Show notifications»**.
- 🚫 Ban “Autostart” and “Background Activity».
- 🗑️ Clear the cache and data.
These actions will completely block sponsorship notices, but may disrupt some Xiaomi services, such as:
- 🔔 Alerts for firmware updates.
- 📱 Notifications from Mi Home (if you use smart devices).
- 💬 Messages from Mi Community.
If you need these features, use an alternative method: install Notification Analyzer from Google Play and manually block notifications from com.xiaomi.mipush.sdk.
💡
Disabling Mi Push Service is the most radical way to remove sponsorship notifications, but it can disrupt other Xiaomi services.
6. Alternative methods: third-party applications and custom firmware
If none of the above methods helped, there are two options:
- Use third-party utilities to block advertising.
- Install custom firmware without advertising (requires unlocking the bootloader).
Third-party annexes:
- 🛡️ Blokada – Blocks Advertising Domains at Level DNS (no root).
- 🔍 AdGuard – filters traffic and removes banners in the browser and applications.
- 🚫 AppOps – allows you to disable permissions for system services (you need access to the developer settings).
For custom firmware installation (e.g. LineageOS or Pixel Experience):
- Unblock the bootloader through the official Xiaomi website (you will need a Mi Account and wait 7-14 days).
- Install custom TWRP recavators for Xiaomi 12 (see instructions on XDA Developers).
- Firmware without ads (for example, MIUI EU is an unofficial version of MIUI without banners).
⚠️ Attention: Installing custom firmware voids warranty and can lead to a device blink if the process is disrupted. This method is recommended only for advanced users.
If you are not willing to take risks, stop at ADB-They will remove 90 to 95 percent of ads without losing warranty.
