Xiaomi pop-up notifications are small banners that appear at the top of the screen when you receive messages, calls or system alerts. They allow you to quickly view information without opening the application. However, standard MIUI settings do not always suit users: someone wants to make notifications more visible, and someone β on the contrary, hide them so as not to be distracted.

All instructions are valid for 2020-2026 models (Xiaomi 13/14, Redmi Note 12/13, POCO F5/X6, etc.) If you have an older version of MIUI (up to 12.5), some menu items may differ - we will mention this too.
1. Where to find notification settings on Xiaomi
All the options for pop-up notifications on Xiaomi are concentrated in Settings β Notifications and Status bar, but the path to them may vary slightly depending on the version of MIUI:

- Put your finger on the notification in the curtain.

2. How to enable or disable pop-up notifications
By default, Xiaomi pop-up notifications are enabled for most apps, but they can be turned off either completely or selectively.
Disconnection for all applications
If you want to remove all pop-up banners:
- Go to Settings β Notifications β More.
- Find the pop-up notifications item and turn off the slider.
- Confirm the action in the dialog window.
Setup for individual applications
To disable notifications only for specific programs (such as games or social networks):
- Open Settings β Notifications β Notifications Management.
- Select an app from a list (such as WhatsApp or VK).
- Turn off the pop-up notification slider.
- If necessary, also turn off the icons on the lock screen and Sound.

Some models (Xiaomi 13 Ultra, POCO X5 Pro) have introduced the Smart Notifications feature in MIUI 15, which automatically hides unimportant alerts based on your habits. To turn it off, go to Settings β Notifications β Smart Notifications and deactivate the option.
3. How to change the style of pop-up notifications
In MIUI, you can customize the appearance of notifications to make them more visible or, conversely, minimalist.

For example, to make notifications less intrusive:
- Choose a minimalist style.
- Set transparency to 70-80%.
- Turn off animation (without animation).
For maximum visibility:
- Choose Color Style.
- Set transparency at 0%.
- Turn on the smooth animation.

4. Set up notifications on a locked screen
By default, Xiaomi displays notifications on the lock screen, but they can be hidden or restricted.
- Go to Settings β Lock screen β Notifications on the lock screen.
- Choose one of the options: π Show all text β full notifications are displayed. π Hide confidential content β only app icons are shown. π« Do not show notifications β the lock screen is completely clean.

You can also set up quick answers right from the lock screen:
- In the same section, turn on the option Quick Answers.
- Select the messengers for which you want to see the answer buttons (WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.).

If you have Do Not Disturb Mode enabled, notifications on the locked screen will not appear even under the permitted exceptions. Check settings in Settings β Sound and vibration β Do not disturb
5. How to hide confidential data in notifications
If you donβt want the text of messages to be visible on the lock screen or in the notification curtain, MIUI allows you to hide the content, leaving only the name of the application and the icon.
- Open Settings β Notifications β Privacy Notifications.
- Enable the option to hide the content of notifications.
- Select the applications you want to hide the text for (for example, SberBank Online or Viber).
- Press Ready.
- Update. MIUI applications: π Check for system updates in Settings β The phone. β Updating the system. π² Update the problem app on Google Play.
If the problem persists, try resetting the notification settings:
- Go to Settings β Notifications β More.
- Click Reset notification settings.
- Confirm the action and restart the smartphone.

Vibration on notifications
Adjust the vibration intensity to Settings β Sound and vibration β Vibration β Notification Vibration. Options available: Short, Long, Double.
For minimalism enthusiasts, there is an option Only icons β it hides the text of notifications in the status bar, leaving only application icons. Enables in Settings β Notifications β Additional β Show notification icons.
