Xiaomi TVs (Mi TV, Redmi Smart TV, Xiaomi TV A Pro, and others) have built-in TV tuners for on-air, cable, or satellite TV, but many users face the problem of either connecting an antenna or cable to the channels or the settings menu is hidden in deep sections. In this article, we will discuss all the ways to activate TV broadcasting, from automatic search to manual frequency settings.
It is important to understand that the process differs depending on the type of connection (antenna, cable TV from the provider, satellite dish) and region (in some countries, additional adjustment of broadcast standards is required).We will look at universal methods that work on all models of Xiaomi TV 2018-2026, including the popular Mi TV 4S, Mi TV 5 and Redmi Smart TV X.
1. Checking the connection of the antenna or cable
Before you set up the channels, make sure the signal is coming to the TV.
- 📡 Etheric antenna: connect the cable to the connector RF IN (or ANTENNA) Check the integrity of the cable and the reliability of the connection.
- 📺 Cable TV: Use the connector CABLE IN (sometimes combined with an antenna input, if the provider requires CAM-module (for coded channels), install it in Slot CI+.
- 🛰️ Satellite TV: connect the cable from the converter to the connector LNB IN. Make sure the plate is set to the satellite (e.g. Absolute 36).°E or Yamal 90°E).

2. Enter the channel settings menu

It takes 3-10 minutes, and when you're done, the TV will show you the number of channels that you've found, and if there's not enough or none at all,

- 📡 Move the antenna or check the cable for damage.
- 🔄 Repeat search by selecting a different standard (e.g., auto search, DVB-T2 instead DVB-T).
What if the search engine finds channels but they don’t show?
Manual addition of channels
If the automatic search didn't work, try manually configuring it.
- 🛰️ Satellite TV (transponder frequency input required).
- 🏢 Cable TV with non-standard frequencies (e.g. local providers).
- 📡 TV in weak signal areas.
Instructions for manual adjustment:
- Go to Settings → Channels → Manual setting.
- Select the signal type (DVB-T2, DVB-C or DVB-S for satellite).

Satellite TV will also require:

5.Configuring channels through CAM-module (for encoded TV)
If your provider uses encrypted channels (e.g. Tricolor, NTV-Plus, MTS TV), you will need to:
- CAM-module (decoding device, connected to slot) CI+ TV-wise).
- Smart card from the provider (inserted into the CAM-module).
How to set up:
- Put it in. CAM-plug-in CI+ back-end.
- Insert the smart card into the module (chip up).
- Go to Settings → Channels → Set up CI+.

If the channels do not open:

If the TV doesn’t find any channels, check the source of the signal first (the Source button on the remote) – you should choose TV or Antena, not HDMI.
7. Alternative ways to watch TV on Xiaomi TV
If the built-in tuner is not suitable (for example, due to an outdated standard or a provider lockdown), use:
- 📺 External console (for example, Xiaomi Mi Box or console from the provider). Connects via HDMI.
- 🌍 IPTV via: SS IPTV (playlist.m3u). TiviMate (paid, but with advanced features) Official applications of providers (for example, MTS TV, Rostelecom TV).
- 🖥️ Mirror screen from a smartphone (via Miracast or Google Cast).
To set up IPTV:
- Install an app (such as SS IPTV) from Google Play on your TV.
- Get a playlist from the provider (.m3u file).
- Download the playlist to the app via Settings → Playlists.
Xiaomi’s PatchWall TVs (such as Mi TV 5) have a TV Plus app preinstalled, which supports basic cable and satellite TV packages without any additional settings.
