Xiaomi TVs (Mi TV, Redmi Smart TV, Xiaomi TV A Pro, and others) have built-in TV tuners for on-air, cable, or satellite TV, but many users face the problem of either connecting an antenna or cable to the channels or the settings menu is hidden in deep sections. In this article, we will discuss all the ways to activate TV broadcasting, from automatic search to manual frequency settings.
It is important to understand that the process differs depending on the type of connection (antenna, cable TV from the provider, satellite dish) and region (in some countries, additional adjustment of broadcast standards is required). We will look at universal methods that work on all models of Xiaomi TV 2018-2026, including the popular Mi TV 4S, Mi TV 5 and Redmi Smart TV X.
1. Checking the connection of the antenna or cable
Before you set up the channels, make sure the signal is coming to the TV.
- π‘ Etheric antenna: connect the cable to the connector RF IN (or ANTENNA) Check the integrity of the cable and the reliability of the connection.
- πΊ Cable TV: Use the connector CABLE IN (sometimes combined with an antenna input, if the provider requires CAM-module (for coded channels), install it in Slot CI+.
- π°οΈ Satellite TV: connect the cable from the converter to the connector LNB IN. Make sure the plate is set to the satellite (e.g. Absolute 36).Β°E or Yamal 90Β°E).
If you use a signal amplifier, plug it into the socket and check the display. Some Xiaomi TV models (such as the Mi TV Q1E) have a built-in amplifier - activate it in the Settings menu β Channels β Signal amplifier.
β οΈ Note: If you are connecting digital TV (DVB-T2), Make sure your model supports this standard: Outdated TVs (until 2019) may require an external set-top box.
2. Enter the channel settings menu
Xiaomi TV interface runs on Android TV or PatchWall (depending on the model) to open the tuner settings:
- Press the Menu (or Settings) button on the remote.
- Select the Settings section (βοΈ).
- Go to Channels (or Television β Channels).
- Choose Autoset or Manual Setup.
On some models (e.g. Redmi Smart TV X55), the path may be different:
Settings β Device and sound β Channel settings β Etheric / Cable TVIf the channel item is not on the menu, it means:
- π The TV does not recognize the connected cable (check the connection).
- π± Use the wrong signal source (click Source on the remote and select the TV or antena).
- π Resetting of tuner settings is required (more on this below).
π‘
If the TV doesnβt respond to the remote, try using the Mi Remote app on your smartphone (available for Android and iOS).
3. Automatic channel search
This is the easiest way to set up a TV broadcast, and the instructions are suitable for on-air (DVB-T/T2) and cable (DVB-C) TV:
- In the Channel Settings menu, select AutoSearch.
- Specify the signal type: πΆ Etheric TV (for antennas). π’ Cable TV (for the provider).

- π Repeat search by selecting a different standard (e.g., auto search, DVB-T2 instead DVB-T).
What if the search engine finds channels but they donβt show?
Manual addition of channels
If the automatic search didn't work, try manually configuring it.
- π°οΈ Satellite TV (transponder frequency input required).
- π’ Cable TV with non-standard frequencies (e.g. local providers).
- π‘ TV in weak signal areas.
Instructions for manual adjustment:
- Go to Settings β Channels β Manual setting.
- Select the signal type (DVB-T2, DVB-C or DVB-S for satellite).
- Enter the settings: The Etheric TV setting (DVB-T2) Cable TV (DVB-C) Satellite TV (DVB-S) Frequency 474β858 MHz (depends on multiplex) 298β862 MHz (check with the provider) 10700β12750 MHz (LNB) Symbolic speed Auto 6875 ks/s (standard) 27500β45000 (satellite-dependent) Modulation 256 QAM 256 QAM QPSK

5.Configuring channels through CAM-module (for encoded TV)
If your provider uses encrypted channels (e.g. Tricolor, NTV-Plus, MTS TV), you will need to:

β οΈ Note: Some providers (for example, Rostelecom) block direct work with the built-in tuner Xiaomi TV. In this case, an external prefix will be required.
6. Solving channel problems
If the channels are not available or are intermittent, check:
| Problem. | Possible cause | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| No signal. | Core or connector damaged | Check the integrity of the cable, try another connector |
| Not all channels found. | Weak signal or incorrect search settings | Repeat search with a different standard (DVB-T2 instead of DVB-T) |
| Canals are slowing down or crumbled | Low signal or interference level | Use a signal amplifier or reconfigure the antenna |
| No sound on some channels. | Incorrect audio format (AC3, EAC3) | Change the sound settings to Settings β Sound β Audio format |
If problems remain:
- π Reset the tuner settings: Settings β Channels β Resetting settings.
- π₯ Update the TV firmware: Settings β On TV. β Updating the system.
- π Contact Xiaomi Support (for warranty cases) or the provider.
π‘
If the TV doesnβt find any channels, check the source of the signal first (the Source button on the remote) β you should choose TV or Antena, not HDMI.
7. Alternative ways to watch TV on Xiaomi TV
If the built-in tuner is not suitable (for example, due to an outdated standard or a provider lockdown), use:
- πΊ External console (for example, Xiaomi Mi Box or console from the provider). Connects via HDMI.
- π IPTV via: SS IPTV (playlist.m3u). TiviMate (paid, but with advanced features) Official applications of providers (for example, MTS TV, Rostelecom TV).
- π₯οΈ Mirror screen from a smartphone (via Miracast or Google Cast).
To set up IPTV:
- Install an app (such as SS IPTV) from Google Play on your TV.
- Get a playlist from the provider (.m3u file).
- Download the playlist to the app via Settings β Playlists.
Xiaomiβs PatchWall TVs (such as Mi TV 5) have a TV Plus app preinstalled, which supports basic cable and satellite TV packages without any additional settings.
