Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro is one of the most popular smartphones of 2021, but even its owners do not always know all the ways to create screenshots. The standard combination of buttons Volume down + Power does not always work: for example, if one of the keys is broken or the phone in the case. In this article, 5 proven methods, including gestures, voice commands and even a hidden developer menu.
We tested each method on the Poco X3 Pro with MIUI 12.5, 13 and 14 firmware (including global and Chinese versions), focusing on common bugs: why the screenshot is not saved, how to change the file format or turn off the shutter sound, and the FAQ with 90% of user questions answered at the end.
1. Standard method: Volume + Power buttons
This is the basic method that works on all Xiaomi smartphones, including the Poco X3 Pro.
- π± Simultaneously press the volume down button (down) and the power button.
- π― Hold them for 1-2 seconds until the screen blinks and screenshot animations appear.
- π You will hear the characteristic shutter sound (if not disabled in the settings).
β οΈ Attention: On Poco X3 Pro with bumper cases, buttons can lock. Try pressing a little harder or removing the case. If the screenshot is not created, check if the phone is getting stuck - sometimes the system ignores the pressing when high load (for example, in games).

2. Three-finger gesture - quick screenshot without buttons
If the buttons on the Poco X3 Pro donβt work (or you just want to speed things up), use a three-finger gesture. This feature is enabled by default in MIUI 12+, but it can be configured:
- Go to Settings β Additional functions β Gestures.
- Select a screenshot with three fingers.
- Activate the switch and test: swipe top-down across the screen with three fingers at the same time.
πΉ Secret: The gesture works even in games and full-screen applications (like YouTube or TikTok) where standard buttons can be blocked. However, in some banking applications (like SberBank Online), screenshots are not allowed at the security level - the gesture will not work either.

On Poco X3 Pro with MIUI 14, the voice command works even in offline mode, if you pre-download the language package for Google Assistant.

In recent versions of MIUI, a quick screenshot button has been added to the notification curtain.

Frequent problems and their solutions
Problem 1: Screenshot is not saved.
πΉ Solution: Check the space available in memory (need a minimum of 50-100 MB). If the memory is full, delete the unnecessary files or transfer them to the memory card. Also check the permissions for the Gallery application in Settings β Annexes β Permits.
Problem 2: Screenshot is taken but not displayed in the gallery.
πΉ Solution: Screenshots folder can be hidden. Use a file manager (e.g. Mi File Manager) and go down the path /storage/emulated/0/Pictures/. If there is no folder, create it manually.
Problem 3: The sound of the shutter interferes (e.g. at night).
πΉ Solution: Turn off the sound of the screenshot:
- Open the Settings. β Sounds and vibrations.
- Select System Sounds.
- Turn off the screenshot sound switch.

If screenshots donβt work in either way, check your phone for viruses (e.g., through Mi Security) β some malware blocks system functions.
