Xiaomi Redmi’s anti-spam system is a useful tool for blocking intrusive calls and SMS, but sometimes it starts filtering important messages or disrupts instant messengers. If you notice that notifications from the bank, confirmation of registration or SMS from services have disappeared, the problem is most likely hyperactive anti-spam. In this article, we will examine all the ways to disable anti-spam, from standard settings to radical measures like resetting the system.
The feature of MIUI (Xiaomi firmware) is that anti-spam is integrated at the system level and can be duplicated in different menus: in the Phone app, in Messages, and in the Security section. We will show you exactly where to look for settings for your model — whether it is Redmi Note 12, Redmi 10C or older version. Importantly, some methods require superuser rights (root), but most solutions work without them.
1. Disable antispam in standard MIUI settings
To start with, the basics are built-in MIUI tools, and antispam is divided into two parts: call filtering and SMS, and you can adjust both settings without installing any additional software.
To deactivate call filtering:
- Open the phone application (pipe icon).
- Slip on three dots in the upper right corner → select Settings.
- Go to the section Blocking and antispam.
- Turn off the Antispam slider (or Spam Filtering in newer versions).
For SMS-message:
- Launch the Messages app.
- Click on three points → Settings → Antispam.
- Deactivate the option to filter spam.
- Check the Black List menu, as important numbers may have been accidentally hit.

If you have a problem after doing this, move to the next section, and sometimes anti-spam is managed not only through apps, but also through the system menu Security.
2. Deactivate antispam via “Security” and “Google Play Protection”
MIUI has a separate Security app (shield icon) that brings together all the security features, including anti-spam, so you can not only turn off filtering, but also reset to factory settings if previous manipulations have not helped.
Instructions:
- Open Security (if there is no icon on the desktop, search through the application search).
- Go to Antispam or Spam Protection (name depends on MIUI version).
- Turn off all sliders: Call filtering, Message filtering, Fraudster blocking.
- At the bottom of the screen, there may be a Reset button – press it if the anti-spam still works.
Also, check Google Play Protection – it can also block SMS:
- Open Settings → Google → Security.
- Select Google Play Protection → click on the gear in the upper right corner.
- Turn off the option to scan your device for security threats (temporary solution, not recommended for long).
💡
If after disabling antispam in "Security" settings are reset yourself - this is a sign of a system failure. Try to clear the cache of the application "Security" in Settings → Applications → Application Management
3. Antispam Removal via ADB (for power users)
If standard methods don't work and you don't have root rights, you can try disabling antispam via ADB (Android Debug Bridge), which requires connecting your phone to your computer, but doesn't violate the warranty.
What you need:
- 🖥️ Computer with Windows/macOS/Linux
- 📱 USB-cable (original or quality)
- 🔧 Installed drivers Xiaomi and ADB Tools
- 🔒 Included debugging by USB phone-on
Step-by-step:
- Activate Developer Mode: Go to Settings → About Phone and tap the MIUI version 7 times.
- Return to Settings → Additional → For developers and enable USB debugging.
- Connect the phone to the PC, select File Transfer mode.
- Open the command line (Windows) or terminal (macOS/Linux) and type:
adb devices(Your device serial number must appear, which means that you are connected.)
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.miui.antispamThis command removes antispam for the current user without root permissions.
What if the ADB can’t see the device?
Once you have completed the command, reboot Redmi. Antispam should disappear from the menu. If you have a Failure error, then your version of MIUI blocks such changes, try another method.
4. Network reset and phone reset completely
If antispam continues to work despite all the manipulations, the problem may be a system failure, in which case resetting network settings or completely resetting the phone to factory parameters will help.
Reset network settings (remove saved Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mobile network data):
- Go to Settings. → SIM-maps and mobile networks.
- Select Network Settings Reset (or Wi-Fi, Mobile Network, and Bluetooth Reset).
- Confirm the action.
Hard Reset is a last resort, erasing all data:
- Make a backup of important files (photos, contacts, messages).
- Open Settings → About the phone → Reset settings.
- Choose to erase all data and confirm.
| Method | What's removed | Is a backup required? | Implementation time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Resetting network settings | Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mobile network data | No. | 1-2 minutes |
| Reset to factory settings | All data, applications, settings | Yes. | 5-10 minutes |
| Removal via ADB | Only an anti-spam app | No. | 3-5 minutes |

After a full reset, antispam will be turned off by default, but you will have to reconfigure the phone, which is guaranteed to solve the problem, but only use it if other options have not worked.
5.Use of third-party applications to manage spam
If Xiaomi’s built-in antispam is too aggressive but you don’t want to get rid of it completely, you can replace it with alternative solutions. There are apps that flexibly adjust filtering without blocking important messages.
Top.-3 Applications to replace standard antispam:
- 📱 Truecaller – Defines spam calls and SMS, It allows you to add numbers to the white list.
- 🔒 Hiya – blocks scammers, but with fewer false positives.
- 📧 SMS Organizer (from Microsoft) – sorts messages by folder without deleting them.
How to set up Truecaller instead of MIUI antispam:
- Install the app from Google Play.
- At the first start, allow access to calls and SMS.
- Open the Truecaller settings → Lock.
- Add important numbers (banks, services) to the White List.
- Turn off Xiaomi’s standard anti-spam (as in the first section).
💡
The Truecaller side of apps can conflict with the built-in MIUI antispam. Before using them, be sure to turn off standard filtering in your phone settings.
The advantage of this approach is that you get a more flexible setup than standard anti-spam, for example, in Truecaller you can manually mark numbers as “Important” so that they never get blocked.
6. Features of anti-spam on different models of Redmi
Antispam functionality may vary depending on the Redmi model and MIUI version. For example, on new devices (for example, Redmi Note 13 Pro+), antispam is integrated deeper into the system, and on older ones (for example, Redmi 9A), it can be turned off in two clicks.
Differences in MIUI versions:
- 📱 MIUI 12/13: Antispam is managed through security → Antispam and duplicated in the applications "Phone" / "Messages».
- 🔄 MIUI 14+: Privacy Protection is now available, where antispam is combined with other security features.
- ⚠️ Redmi for global market: Antispam may be less aggressive in firmware for Europe/India than in Chinese versions.
If your model does not respond to standard methods, check:
- 🔍 Version MIUI In Settings → The phone.
- 🌍 Firmware region (Chinese, global, Indian).
- 📦 System updates (sometimes antispam bugs are fixed in new versions).
💡
On Chinese versions of Redmi (with firmware for the Chinese market), antispam can often not be completely turned off without root, in which case only reflashing to the global version of MIUI will help.
On Redmi models with MediaTek chipset (e.g. Redmi 10A, Redmi 9C), antispam can work through a separate system process that is not removed through ADB.
Frequent Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
When you turn off anti-spam, users often face typical problems, and here are the most common mistakes and solutions:
⚠️ Note: If after the disabling of anti-spam stopped coming all SMS (including the usual ones), check the Messages app settings. Do not disturb mode or block notifications may have been activated.
Error 1: Antispam turns on itself after the reboot.
- 🔹 Cause: Failure of the application Security.
- 🔧 Solution: Clear the cache and application data Security in Settings → Annexes.
Mistake 2: You can’t turn off the anti-spam – the slider is inactive.
- 🔹 Reason: Limitation of corporate policy (if the phone was issued by the company) or parental control.
- 🔧 Solution: Check for apps like Mi Work or Family Link and uninstall them.
Error 3: After removing anti-spam via ADB, the phone became laggi.
- 🔹 Reason: System process responsible for antispam is linked to other functions MIUI.
- 🔧 Solution: Perform cache reset via Recovery (clip Power) + Volume up when switched on).
