Why Xiaomi Redmi Passwords Are Stored in Different Places β and Where to Look for Them
Xiaomi Redmi smartphones running MIUI store passwords in at least three places: in the browser, in the Google account and in their own shell storage system, and users often find that they can not find the right password because they do not know where it was saved in the first place. For example, if you entered a username from a social network through Chrome, you need to search for it in the browser settings, not in Settings β Passwords and security.
Another difficulty - versions MIUI It's different in functionality. On the Redmi Note 10, MIUI 12 Password Paths May Not Be Same as Redmi 13C on MIUI 14.We have compiled current methods for all modern firmware versions, including HyperOS (which replaced the current version of the firmware). MIUI Important: some methods require fingerprint confirmation or PIN-Code is a standard security measure.
Method 1: Passwords from Google Chrome or Mi Browser
If you saved passwords when you logged in through a browser, you can extract them without additional apps. Xiaomi Redmi has two default browsers: Google Chrome and the branded Mi Browser. The instructions for them are different.
For Chrome:
- Open your browser and tap three dots in the upper right corner.
- Go to Settings. β Passwords.
- Enter. PIN-phone code or pattern lock to confirm.
- Click on the desired site in the list - the "Show password" button (eye) will appear.
For Mi Browser:
- π Go to the browser settings β Confidentiality β Saved passwords.
- π Confirm access by fingerprint or PIN-code.
- π Select a site from the list and click on the eye icon next to the password.

If the password is not displayed, check if sync is disabled in your Google account. Go to Settings β Google Accounts β Sync and turn on the Passwords option.
Method 2: Passwords from your Google account (if sync is enabled)
All passwords saved through Google services (including Chrome, YouTube and apps) are automatically synced to the cloud, and can be viewed not only on your phone but also from your computer, which is convenient if you need to quickly find a login from your old account.
To see the list on Xiaomi Redmi:
- Open Settings β Google Accounts.
- Choose your profile (if there are several).
- Go to Google Account Management.
- Go to the Security tab. β Password Manager.
This will show all the saved combinations. To see the password itself, click on the site or the app, then click on the eye icon. If the list is empty, but you have exactly saved the passwords, check if the sync in the account settings is disabled.
What to do if the synchronization does not work?
Method 3: System Passwords in MIUI (for applications and Wi-Fi)
The MIUI shell (and its successor HyperOS) stores passwords from Wi-Fi networks, some apps, and even Xiaomi accounts, which are not duplicated in Google, so you need to search separately.
Instructions for MIUI 12-14 and HyperOS:
- π± Open the Settings. β Passwords and security.
- π Select Application Passwords (on some models, the item is called Password Management).
- π Enter. PIN-code or fingerprint.
- π See the list of saved data. Wi-Fi passwords are in a separate section Save Networks.
Note: Redmi with Android 13+ may have a slightly different path. For example, Redmi Note 12 Pro+ has to go to Settings β Google β Google Account Management β Security β Password Manager, and then select the App tab.
Method 4: Wi-Fi passwords (including hidden networks)
Passwords from Wi-Fi networks on Xiaomi Redmi are stored separately from the rest of the data, and you can view them without root permission, but only if the phone has previously connected to this network, and if the network is hidden (does not broadcast SSID), it can also be found in the list.
Step-by-step:
- Go to Settings. β Wi-Fi.
- Slip on three dots in the upper right corner and select Additional Features (or Advanced Settings).
- Click on Save Networks.
- Select the network from the list - the password will appear under the name (confirmation may be required by the user). PIN-code).
If the network is not on the list, but you are definitely connected to it, try updating the list of saved networks: to do this, turn off and turn on Wi-Fi again. On some firmware (MIUI 11 and older), Wi-Fi passwords can only be viewed through a root-rights file manager - but this is not secure and not recommended.
β Make sure your phone is connected to this network at least once.
β Check if Incognito is disabled in Wi-Fi settings
β If the network is hidden, make sure it is SSID correctly administered
β Confirm access by fingerprint or PIN-code

Method 5: Export passwords to file (backup)
If you want to save all passwords to a separate file (like before a phone reset), they can be exported. This method works for passwords from Google Chrome and a Google account, but not for MIUI system data.
How to export:
- Open Google Chrome and go to Settings β Passwords.
- Slip on three dots in the top right corner and select Export Passwords.
- Confirm the action on PIN-code-print.
- Select the file format:.csv (for Excel) or.txt.
- Save the file to a safe place (e.g. Google Drive).
β οΈ Warning: Exported file contains all passwords in plain view, keep it in a safe place and do not pass it on to third parties.
| Password type | Where it's stored | Can I export it? | Is root required? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Passwords from Chrome | Google account | Yes (in.csv) | No. |
| Passwords from Mi Browser | Locally on the phone. | No. | No. |
| Wi-Fi passwords | System settings | No. | No (only viewing) |
| Application passwords | MIUI/HyperOS | No. | No. |
| Passwords from Xiaomi Account | Xiaomi's Cloud | Yes (via web version) | No. |
What to do if passwords are not displayed?
If you followed the instructions but the passwords are still not visible, the problem may be one of the following:
- π Sync is disabled β check your Google account settings (Settings) β Accounts. β Synchronization).
- π Passwords deleted β if you reset your phone or changed your firmware, local data could be erased.
- π± An outdated version MIUI β on MIUI 10 and below, the path to passwords may be different.
- π‘οΈ antivirus or VPN Blocks access β temporarily disable them and check again.
If passwords were saved but disappeared after the MIUI update, try:
- Sign in to the same Google account as you used before.
- Check the Backup folder in the file manager β sometimes backups are created automatically.
- Contact Xiaomi for support (if you are talking about the password from Mi Account).

If passwords are lost after a phone reset, they can only be restored through a backup copy of Google or Xiaomi Cloud. Local data (for example, from Mi Browser) is deleted irrevocably.
