Previous articleMissing sound when calling on Xiaomi: how to return sound in the handset and speaker

You picked up the phone to answer an important call, but instead of the voice of the interlocutor โ€” silence or barely audible interference? The problem with missing sound during calls on Xiaomi smartphones (including the models of Redmi, POCO and Black Shark) is more common than it seems. The causes can be in both trivial settings and serious hardware malfunctions. In this article, we will analyze all possible scenarios, from lost sound parameters to oxidized contacts of the speaker, and give step-by-step instructions for diagnosis and repair.

The problem is that it's often selective: it can only disappear in hands-free mode, with a Bluetooth headset, or in a handset, sometimes the microphone disappears, sometimes the speaker, and we structured the materials so that you can quickly find a solution for your particular case, start with the simplest checks and gradually move on to the complex ones.

1. Checking basic sound settings

Before you commit a breakdown, make sure that the problem is not the wrong settings. On Xiaomi smartphones, the call sound is regulated separately from the media sound, and its level can be accidentally reduced to zero.

Open the Phone app, click on the three dots in the top right corner and select Settings โ†’ Call Sound.

  • ๐Ÿ”Š Loudness of call -- move the slider to the right (MIUI 12-14) This parameter is reset after updates.
  • ๐ŸŽง Routing of sound โ€“ if you select Loud Communication or Bluetooth, there will be no sound in the handset.
  • ๐Ÿšซ Silent Mode โ€“ Press the physical volume button and make sure that Vibration or No Sound mode is not activated.

Also check if Do Not Disturb (Settings โ†’ Sound and Vibration โ†’ Do Not Disturb) is activated. In some versions of MIUI, it blocks calls by default if Priority or Alarms Only are enabled.

๐Ÿ“Š How often do you lose your sound when calling Xiaomi?
First time/Not before
Sometimes (1-2 times a month)
Frequently (weekly)
Constantly (at every call)

If the settings are fine, but the sound is still missing, the problem may be a software failure, starting with the most innocuous methods:

  • ๐Ÿ”„ Reboot your smartphone โ€“ press the power button 10 seconds before vibration. This clears RAM and resets temporary errors of the sound driver.
  • ๐Ÿ“ฑ Cleaning the cache of the Phone application: Go to Settings โ†’ Annexes โ†’ App management. Find the phone, press Warehouse. โ†’ Clear the cache.
