The sound of a timer on Xiaomi devices can be annoying, especially if you use an alarm clock or a stopwatch in quiet conditions, whether at work, in the library or at night. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not always make this option obvious: in some versions of MIUI, the switching button is hidden in the bottom of the menu, and on smart watches Mi Band or Watch, the algorithm is completely different.
It is important to understand that the logic of the timer depends on the type of device:
- π± Xiaomi smartphones (Redmi, POCO, Mi β audio is controlled via the Watch app or system settings.
- β Smart watches (Mi Watch, Watch) S3) β require synchronization with the phone or a separate setup in Mi Fitness.
- π Fitness bracelets (Mi Band) 7/8) β Options are limited, but there are workarounds.
We have tested all methods on current firmware (MIUI 14/15, Wear OS 3+) and specify nuances for specific models.
1.Switching off the timer sound on Xiaomi smartphones
On most Xiaomi phones (including the Redmi Note 12, POCO X5, Mi 13), the timer sound is turned off via the standard Watch app. However, depending on the version of MIUI, the interface may differ. Let's consider both options.
If you have a MIUI 14 or younger:
- Open the Clock app (icon with dial).
- Go to the Timer tab (an hourglass icon).
- Press on. βοΈ Settings in upper right corner.
- Choose Sound and Vibration β Timer sound.
- Move the slider to the off position or select No Sound.
On some models (e.g. POCO F5), the item "Timer Sound" may be called "Alert Melody" - do not confuse with an alarm clock!
Make sure you have the latest version of the Clock app |
Check if you have a third-party timer (Google Clock, Alarmy) |
Restart your phone if the changes do not apply |
Sync your settings with your Mi Account (if you use cloud backup)-->
For MIUI 12/13 or older models (Redmi 9A, Mi A3):
- π Go to Settings. β Sound and vibration β Systemic sounds.
- π΄ Scroll down to the App section and select the Watch.
- π Turn off the timer sound slider or set the volume to 0.
β οΈ Note: On Android One phones (such as Mi) A2) This method will not work β use third-party applications (see section 4).
2.Tune the timer on Xiaomi smartwatch
On the Mi Watch, Watch S3 or Watch 2 Pro, the timer sound is controlled via the Mi Fitness app (formerly Zepp Life). The algorithm is different from smartphones, and there are pitfalls:
Step-by-step:
- Open Mi Fitness on your phone and connect the watch.
- Go to Device Profile β Settings β Notifications.
- Find the item Sounds and vibrations (may be called Alerts).
- Turn off the timer sound or set the vibration instead of the melody.
If there is no item, update the firmware of the watch through Settings β Software update.
What to do if the timer sound is not switched off?
For the Mi Band 7/8 and other fitness bracelets:
- π± In Mi Fitness, select your bracelet. β Notification settings.
- π Turn off the Audible Alerts for the Timer (the item may be called the Alarm Sound).
- π‘ If you don't have the option, the bracelet uses the default sound, and the only way out is to set the minimum volume in your phone settings.
β οΈ Note: On Mi Band 6 and older, the timer sound cannot be turned off completely β only reduce the volume through Settings β Sound and vibration β Media volume on the phone.
Difference between models: compatibility table
Not all Xiaomi devices support turning off the timer sound, and the table below shows the current data on popular models (based on 2026 tests):
| The device | POS version | Turning off the timer sound | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi 13/14 | MIUI 15 | β Through the Clock" β Settings | There is a separate volume control |
| Redmi Note 12 | MIUI 14 | β Through the Clock or Systemic Sounds | Some firmware needs an update |
| POCO F5 | MIUI 14 (Global) | β οΈ Only through system sounds. | The "Timer Sound" item may not be available |
| Mi Watch S3 | Wear OS 3.5 | β Through Mi Fitness. | The latest version of the application is required |
| Mi Band 8 | Proprietary OS | β Not supported | You can only reduce the volume on the phone. |
If your model isnβt in the spreadsheet, check the firmware version in Settings β About Phone β MIUI. For devices older than 2020 (e.g. Redmi 8), manual editing of system files may be required (see Section 5).

4. Third-party applications for timer management
If standard methods don't work, use alternative applications that give you more control over sounds and vibrations.
- π Google Clock - allows you to turn off the timer sound separately from the alarm clock. β Tap the timer. βοΈ β Timer sound β No sound.
Timer Plus
Silent Mode
Alarmy
Advantages of third-party applications:
- π§ More settings (for example, gradually increasing volume).
- π± It works on all versions of Android, including Android One.
- π You can turn off the sound, leaving vibration.
To return the sound, use the same command with 1 instead of 0.
What to do if ADB is not working?
For the Mi Band and the watch, this method is not suitable, because their firmware is closed to such changes. If you risk flashing custom firmware (for example, the Amazfit Mod), the warranty will burn, and the device may fail.
6. Frequent problems and solutions
Users often encounter common errors when turning off the timer sound.
- π The sound is turned off, but the timer still beeps: Reason: conflict with another app (e.g. Google Clock or Bixby Routines on Samsung). Solution: check all set timers through Settings β Annexes β Permits β Special access β Notifications.
- βοΈ No "Timer Sound" in the settings: Reason: Outdated firmware or regional version MIUI (Solution: Update the software through Settings. β Update the system or install a global firmware.
- π΅ After updating MIUI Sound back: Reason: Resetting the app's settings Watch.Solution: Repeat the steps from Section 1 or use ADB-team (section 5).
If the problem persists, check:
- π Is not the mode not turned on Do not disturb with exceptions for the timer.
- π² Are there any battery optimizers (e.g. Greenify) that block background processes.
- π Have you reset your phone to the factory.
