Do you miss important calls because of the quiet sound on Xiaomi? The problem is familiar to many smartphone owners of this brand - even at maximum volume, the melody of an incoming call can barely be heard in a noisy room or on the street, the reasons lie in both hardware constraints (weak speaker, dust in the connector) and software settings that the manufacturer deliberately understates to comply with EU regulations.
In this article, we will look at 7 proven ways to increase the volume of calls on Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO β from basic settings to hidden functions of the engineering menu and third-party utilities. All methods are tested on current MIUI 14/15 firmware and adapted for the 2020-2026 models. Importantly, some solutions require rights or install additional applications, but we will show you where you can do without them.
1. Standard volume settings in MIUI
Start with the obvious -- check the current sound parameters in the system. Often users overlook that the volume of the call and notifications is regulated separately from the media sound.
- Open the Settings app (cog icon).
- Go to the section Sound and vibration.
- Click on Volume (or Volume Adjustment in older versions of MIUI).
- Move the "Call" slider to the right to the point.
If the slider is already at its maximum, but the sound is still quiet, try changing the call melody: some system ringtones (MI Ring, Mint) are originally recorded with a low amplitude.
- π In the same section, Sound and vibration select the ringtone.
- π΅ Scroll down the list and select a tune marked βLoudβ (such as Over the Horizon or Reflection).
- π± Restart your phone β sometimes changes only apply after a reboot.
π‘
If there are no loud tunes in the list, download your own in.mp3 format (maximum volume - 0 dB) and place it in the Ringtones folder on the internal drive.
Limitation of MIUI: Even at maximum, the volume of a call can be lower than that of competitors (e.g. Samsung or Realme), due to the European standards EN 50332-2, which limit the sound level to protect hearing, and this can only be avoided through an engineering menu or third-party applications (see the following sections).
2. Engineering menu: hidden volume settings
The Engineering Mode allows you to manually increase the volume of the speaker by changing the parameters of the amplification of sound, which works on 90% of Xiaomi models, but requires caution β incorrect values can lead to distortion of the sound or damage to the speaker.
Instructions for entering the engineering menu:
- Open the Phone app.
- Enter the code ##36446337##
- Select Hardware Testing β Audio β LoudSpeaker Mode.
In this section you are interested in parameters:
- π Ring β volume of the call (default: 140-160).
- π Incall Volume β Volume during a conversation (not to be confused with a call!).
- πΆ Media β volume of music and video.
Recommended values for increasing the volume of the call:
| Parameter | Current value | Recommended value | Maximum permissible |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ring | 140β160 | 180β200 | 255 |
| Ring Gain | 0β3 | 5β7 | 10 |
| Ring DAC | 0 | 1 | 1 |
β οΈ Warning: Do not set values above 200 for Ring and 8 for Ring Gain - this can cause wheezing in the speaker or breakage.

3. Sound amplification applications
If the engineering menu seems complicated, use third-party utilities that work on top of the system and amplify the sound software without requiring root rights.
- π± Volume Booster GOODEV β Increases volume by 20 to 30 percent by equalizer, supports separate settings for calls.
- π Precision Volume β allows you to adjust the volume for each type of sound (including alarms and notifications).
- ποΈ Equalizer FX β built-in equalizer with Loudness preset, which enhances low and high frequencies.
How to set up Volume Booster GOODEV:
- Download the app from Google Play.
- Open it and give access to the sound settings.
- In the Boost Type section, select Ring Volume.
- Move the slider by +20% (maximum - +30%).
- Activate the Apply at Boot option to save the settings after the reboot.
β οΈ Note: Some applications (e.g. Equalizer) FX) They may be in conflict with the system equalizer. MIUI. Before using, disable the built-in equalizer in Settings β Sound and vibration β equalizer.

Cleaning speaker and connector 3.5 mm (if any)
Often, the silent sound is not caused by settings, but by physical contamination, and dust, pile, or moisture can block the speaker or headphone jack (if you have one in your model), and here's how to clean them safely:
For the speaker:
- π§Ή Use a soft brush (for example, for makeup) or compressed air (a canister).
- π± Tip the phone down with the speaker and gently tap on the body to make the dust fall out.
- π« Do not use sharp objects (toothpicks, needles) - they can damage the speaker mesh.
For a 3.5mm connector (if you pass calls through headphones):
- π¦ Illuminate the connector with a flashlight - if you see garbage inside, remove it with a plastic toothpick.
- π§ To remove oxidation, use alcohol wipes (do not drip alcohol into the connector!).
- π After cleaning several times insert / remove the headphones to remove the dirt residue.
If the sound doesn't improve after cleaning, check the speaker for damage.
- Record the voice message and play it at maximum volume.
- Compare the sound to another device β if the difference is significant, the speaker may be worn out.

5.Setting up the equalizer for calls
MIUI has an integrated equalizer that can be adapted to amplify the volume of a call, and although it is officially designed for music, its settings also affect system sounds.
How to set up:
- Go to Settings β Sound and vibration β Equator.
- Select the Custom preset (User).
- Raise the sliders at 250 Hz and 500 Hz by +3-5 dB β this will increase the average frequencies that are best heard in a call.
- Reduce high frequencies (8 kHz and higher) by -2 dB to avoid squeaking.
- Save your profile under the name Ring Boost.
For more precise customization, use the Wavelet app (from the developers of GrapheneOS), which allows you to create a separate profile for calls:
- ποΈ Install Wavelet from Google Play.
- π Select System Effects and activate Equalizer.
- π± In the equalizer settings, enable the option Apply to ringtone.
- π Use Loudness pre-installation or build your own with a focus on 100β1000 Hz.
π‘
The equalizer increases volume by changing the frequency response, but does not increase the power of the speaker. If the sound is distorted, reduce the amplification at low frequencies (60-150 Hz).
6. Resetting the sound settings to factory
If all the previous methods didn't work, maybe the system had a malfunction in the audio settings, in which case resetting to factory settings would help, and it wouldn't delete your data, but it would bring all the audio settings back out of the box.
Instructions:
- Open the Settings. β The phone.
- Click on Resetting (or Additional β Resetting in older versions).
- Select Resetting Sound Settings (not to be confused with a full reset!).
- Confirm the action and restart the phone.
After discharge:
- π Re-set the volume of the call through Settings β Sound and vibration.
- π΅ Select a loud melody (see Section 1).
- π± Check the sound at maximum volume.
β οΈ Note: If the sound is still quieter after the reset, it may indicate a hardware problem, such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro and the X-ray. POCO X3 Pro encountered a defect in the chip sound amplifier (MAX98357A). In this case, repairs are required.
7. Alternative solutions: vibration, LED, notifications
If you canβt increase the volume of the call, compensate for this with other means of notification:
- π³ Increase vibration: in Settings β Sound and vibration β Vibration when calling, select Strong or Intensive mode.
- π‘ LED notifications: activate the flashing indicator in Settings β Notifications β LED indicator.
- π Repeated notifications: In the Phone settings, turn on the option of Missed Call Reminder (will vibrate every 2 minutes).
- π± Screen notifications: in Settings β Lock screen β Notification style select Show content so that the callerβs name appears on the locked screen.
For models with AMOLED-screen (e.g. Xiaomi 13, Redmi) K60) You can use Always-on Display animation when calling:
- Go to Settings β Screen β Always-on Display.
- Choose Digital Watch or Animation Style.
- Activate the option to Show at incoming call.
