How to increase the volume of conversation on the Xiaomi phone: from standard settings to hidden features

Do you constantly put your phone to your ear, but still can’t hear the other person? The problem of low volume during calls is relevant for many owners of Xiaomi smartphones – from budget Redmi to flagship Mi and POCO. Try calling from another phone to the same number — if the sound remains quiet, it’s not your Xiaomi. Also check if Do Not Disturb or Quiet mode is activated in the notification curtain.

1. Check basic volume settings in MIUI

So let's start with the obvious, which is the volume settings that many users overlook. MIUI There are separate regulators for media, alarm clocks and calls, with the latter often reset after updates or occasional pressing.

To check the current settings:

1. During the call, press the up/down volume button on the side panel of the phone.
2. Make sure that the volume of the call is at its maximum (in some versions of MIUI it is indicated by the pipe icon).
3. If the slider is gray and inactive, then the volume is locked at the system level (more on this below).

1. Take a toothpick (not metal!) or a soft brush (like makeup).
2. Carefully, without pressing, swipe the speaker on the grid (usually it is located at the top of the phone, next to the front camera).
3. For deep cleaning, use a compressed air canister (sold in electronics stores). Keep the cylinder vertically at a distance of 5-10 cm from the speaker.

Also check the speaker for physical damage:

• 🔍 Light a flashlight into the grille - if moisture or corrosion is visible, this is a sign of fluid getting into the grate.
• 🎵 Turn on the loud music and put your finger on the speaker, and if the sound is gone, the speaker is defective.

• 🔊 External Bluetooth speaker -- plug it into your phone and use it as speakerphone. Any model that supports it will do. HFP (Hands-Free Profile).
• 📻 FM-transmitter – if the car is weak signal, connect the phone to the car radio via Xiaomi Roidmi 3S adapter.
• 📱 Second phone – turn on speakerphone on the second device and put it next to you (relevant for older people with poor hearing).
