Why Xiaomi doesnβt have sound when charging and how to fix it
You plug a Xiaomi smartphone into charging, but instead of the usual audio notification, silence? It's not a fault, but a feature of the MIUI firmware. By default, the charger's connection sound is turned off on most models, including the Redmi Note 12, POCO X5 and Xiaomi 13. The manufacturer believes that frequent audio signals annoy users, but many are used to controlling the charging process by sound.
In this article, you will find 4 working ways to return sound when you connect a charge β from standard MIUI settings to hidden functions through ADB. We will also discuss why sound may disappear after updates and how to prevent this. All instructions are tested on MIUI firmware 12-14 and are relevant for devices of 2019-2026 release.
Before you go to the settings, check:
- π Media volume β possibly set to a minimum (adjusted by volume buttons in music playback mode).
- π Do Not Disturb β it can block system sounds (check in the notification curtain).
- π Latest updates β sometimes the sound disappears after the update MIUI (More about this in the section on discharges).

- Go to the section "Sounds (or Melodies)".
