Vibration when typing on Xiaomi Redmi smartphones can be annoying β especially if you quickly type or use the device in silence. This feature is enabled by default in the MIUI firmware, but you can turn it off in several ways: through standard settings, keyboard settings or even the developerβs system tools. In this article, we will discuss all working methods for the Redmi Note 12/13, Redmi 10/11, POCO X5 and other devices based on MIUI 13/14/15.
It is important to understand that vibration output can come from two sources: the system keyboard MIUI (for example, the Xiaomi Keyboard or Gboard) or from the tactile response settings in the device parameters. We will consider both options, and also tell you how to completely turn off vibration for all actions from touches to notifications.
If you have a problem when the vibration does not turn off through the standard menu, or after the MIUI update, the settings are reset, the article has solutions for these cases.
1. disable vibration in the settings of the MIUI keyboard
The easiest way to remove vibration output is to change the settings of a standard keyboard, which works for the built-in Xiaomi Keyboard (formerly called the MIUI Keyboard) and is suitable for most Redmi models.
Instructions:
- Open any application where you can type text (such as Messages or Notes).
- Tap the input field to make the keyboard appear.
- Click on the gear icon (βοΈ) in the top row of the keyboard to open its settings.
- Go to the section Settings of the keyboard β Sound and vibration.
- Turn off the slider next to Vibration when pressed (or Tactile Feedback in newer versions).
If you have Gboard installed (keyboard from Google), the path will be different:
- πΉ Open the Settings. β System system β Language and input β Virtual keyboard β Gboard.
- πΉ Select Settings β Sound on press and turn off vibration.
β οΈ Attention: On some firmware MIUI The vibrating item can be hidden in the submenu Additional settings or tactile response. If you don't find an option, check the keyboard updates in Google Play.
2. Disabling tactile feedback in system settings
If the vibration remains even after the keyboard is turned off, the problem may lie in the global tactile response settings, which are responsible for the vibration output when you touch the screen, press navigation buttons, and other interactions.
How to turn it off:
- π± Go to Settings. β Sound and vibration.
- π³ Select Tactile Feedback (or Touch Vibration in Older Versions).
- π Turn off the slider next to the Vibration item when pressed.
On some devices (e.g. Redmi Note 11 Pro+), this option may be called System Vibration or Press Feedback. If you donβt have an option, your firmware doesnβt support disabling it through the menu (see the developer mode section for a solution).

3.Using Developer Mode for Deep Settings
If standard methods don't work, you can use hidden settings for developers, which is suitable for power users and allows you to turn off vibration at the system level.
Steps:
- Activate Developer Mode: Go to Settings β About Phone. Find the MIUI Version and click on it 7 times in a row until the notification You became a developer appears!
- Return to the main Settings menu and open a new Developer section (usually at the bottom of the list).
- Scroll down and find the Input or Hardware Acceleration Display block.
- Turn off the parameters: π§ Vibration upon pressing (if any) π§ Tactile feedback π§ Haptic feedback (in English-language firmware)
β οΈ Attention: Some settings in developer mode can affect the stability of the smartphone. Do not change other settings unless you are sure of their purpose.

4.Outact vibration for specific applications
Sometimes the vibration when typing appears only in individual messengers (for example, WhatsApp, Telegram) or social networks, in which case the problem lies in the settings of the applications themselves.
Examples for popular services:
| Annex | The path to settings | What to turn off |
|---|---|---|
| βοΈ β Notifications β Sounds. | Vibration (select without vibration) | |
| Telegram | βοΈ β Notifications and sounds β Vibration. | Turn off vibration or select Short |
| VK | βοΈ β Notifications β Vibration. | Turn off the vibration. |
| βοΈ β Notifications β Vibration. | Disable (in some versions not available) |
If the app doesnβt have a separate setting for vibration when typing, try turning off all notifications for it or using techniques from the previous sections.
π‘
In some instant messengers (for example, Viber), the vibration can be turned off only for notifications, but not for the keyboard, in which case installing a third-party keyboard without vibration output, such as Microsoft SwiftKey or Fleksy, will help.
5. ADB-commands to completely shut down vibration (advanced method)
If none of the above methods help, you can use it. ADB-This method requires the smartphone to be connected to the computer and works at the system level, but allows you to turn off the vibration completely, including hidden parameters.
Instructions:
- Download and install ADB Tools on your PC (e.g. Googleβs Platform Tools).
- Enable USB debugging on your smartphone: Go to Settings β For developers (how to activate - see section 3). Enable USB debugging.
Xiaomi Redmi
cmd
adb shell settings put global haptic_feedback_enabled 0This command shuts down all tactile feedback in the system.
adb shell settings put system haptic_feedback_keyboard 0Reset the device.
β οΈ Attention: Misuse of the right ADB If the vibration is completely gone after the commands are executed (including notifications and calls), return the settings with the command adb shell settings put global. haptic_feedback_enabled 1.
π‘
ADB-commands are the most reliable way to turn off vibration at the system level, but it requires caution.
6. Reset keyboard settings to factory
If the vibration occurs after a MIUI update or new software is installed, resetting the keyboard settings can return the standard settings, a method that does not affect personal data, but resets all user input settings.
How to do this:
- π Go to Settings. β Annexes β Application management.
- π Find the Xiaomi Keyboard (or Gboard) and open its settings.
- ποΈ Press Warehouse. β Clear the data (or Reset settings).
- π Reboot your smartphone.
After resetting, the vibration when typing should turn off, but you will have to reconfigure the language, dictionaries and other keyboard settings.
7.Verification for virus software and application conflicts
Rarely, it happens that the vibration of typing is caused by virus software or third-party application conflict, for example, some βoptimizersβ or keyboards from unknown developers may force haptic feedback to be enabled.
What to do:
- π‘οΈ Scan an antivirus (for example, Dr.Web or Kaspersky).
- π Check the list of recently installed apps in Settings β Annexes.
- π« Remove suspicious programs or those that have requested administrator rights.
- π Restart the device in Safe Mode (press the power button) β Safe mode) and check if the problem persists.
If the vibration is gone in safe mode, one of the installed applications is to blame. Remove the programs starting with the latter one by one to find the culprit.
