How to remove vibration on the keyboard Xiaomi Redmi 10S: all ways

Vibration of the keyboard on the Xiaomi Redmi 10S can be useful for haptic feedback, but it is often a source of irritation - especially if you quickly type or use your smartphone in quiet places. Unpleasant buzzing sound, shaking of the body and even accelerated battery discharge are just some of the problems that users face. Fortunately, you can turn off the vibration in several ways, and we will take them all apart from standard MIUI settings to hidden functions and third-party utilities.

It is important to understand that on Redmi 10S, keyboard vibration can be controlled on three levels: the Gboard system keyboard (if installed), the native MIUI keyboard, and the global vibration settings in the firmware. In this article, you will find solutions for each case, including rare bugs when the vibration does not turn off through the menu, and we will also touch on how to return the vibration back if it suddenly disappeared after the MIUI update.

1.Switch off vibration in the standard MIUI keyboard

If you use Xiaomi’s native keyboard (which is the default on the Redmi 10S), the quickest way to remove the vibration is through its settings.

  1. Open any application where you can type text (such as Messages or Notes).
  2. Tap the input field to make the keyboard appear.
  3. Press the gear icon (βš™οΈ) in the top row of the keyboard - this will cause the settings menu.
  4. Select the keyboard settings β†’ Feedback when pressed.
  5. Translate the slider Vibration when pressed to the off position.

If you don't have a gear icon, try holding a comma (,) or space β€” in some versions of MIUI, this causes a hidden menu. Also check if you have a Gboard instead of a standard one β€” in which case, read the next section.

⚠️ Attention: On some firmware MIUI 13/14 for Redmi 10S Feedback can be called tactile response or click effects. If you don't find an option, update the keyboard through Play Market.

After turning off the vibration, check if it is still in other applications (such as WhatsApp or Telegram), if so, the problem lies in the global settings of the system, which will be discussed later.

2. Vibration setting in Gboard (Google keyboard)

Many Redmi 10S users install Gboard instead of the standard MIUI keyboard, in which case the vibration is controlled via Google’s settings, and the process is slightly different:

  1. Open Settings β†’ System β†’ Language and input.
  2. In the Keyboard section, select Gboard (or Virtual Keyboard β†’ Gboard).
  3. Go to Settings. β†’ Sound and vibration.
  4. Turn off the Vibration slider when you press the keys.

If you don’t have Sound and Vibration, upgrade to the latest version of Gboard in the Play Market. Also check if additional themes are installed for the keyboard – some of them can reset vibration settings.

Gboard allows you to fine-tune the vibration, so you can not only turn it off completely, but also reduce the intensity.

  1. In the same Sound and Vibration settings, click on the Vibration Intensity.
  2. Move the slider to the left to reduce the force of recoil.

⚠️ Warning: If it still works after the vibration in Gboard is turned off, check if the application conflicts with the energy saving mode. MIUI. Add Gboard to exceptions: Settings β†’ Battery β†’ Optimizing the battery β†’ Find Gboard and select Unlimited.

3. Global Vibration Shutdown in MIUI

If the vibration of the keyboard is not turned off through the settings of the keyboard itself, the problem may lie in the system parameters of the vibration of MIUI. Xiaomi firmware allows you to flexibly manage tactile feedback at the OS level:

  1. Go to Settings. β†’ Sound and vibration.
  2. Scroll down to the Vibration section.
  3. Turn off the Vibration slider when pressed (sometimes called Tactile Feedback).

This parameter affects all system elements, including keyboard, navigation buttons, and notifications. If you want to leave the vibration for notifications, but remove it only for the keyboard, use the methods from the previous sections.

ParameterImpact on the keyboardRecommendation
Press vibration (MIUI)Disables vibration for all system buttons, including keyboardIt is good if you want to remove the vibration completely.
Feedback when pressed (MIUI keyboard)Turns off vibration only for a standard keyboardIt is best if you use your own keyboard.
Vibration Intensity (Gboard)Adjusts the vibration force in the Google keyboardUseful for fine tuning
Do not disturb mode.Turns off all vibrations, including the keyboardTemporary solution, inconvenient for permanent use

Some MIUI firmware 12.5 and older have a hidden option called "Input Vibration" that duplicates the keyboard settings. If standard methods don't work, try:

  1. Turn on Developer Mode (7 times click on the MIUI version in Settings β†’ About Phone).
  2. Go to Settings β†’ Additional β†’ For developers.
  3. Find the item Turn off the HID vibration and activate it.

If after updating MIUI the keyboard vibration began to work differently, try resetting the keyboard settings to factory: in its menu, find Reset settings or Restore by default.

4. Reset keyboard settings to factory

If the vibration doesn't turn off despite all the manipulations, the keyboard settings may have gone wrong, and then the factory reset will help, and the instructions are suitable for both the MIUI and Gboard keyboards:

  • πŸ”§ For the standard keyboard MIUI: Open the keyboard in any application. Press the gear (βš™οΈ) β†’ Settings β†’ Reset settings. Confirm action.
  • πŸ“± For Gboard: Go to Settings β†’ Annexes β†’ App management. Find Gboard. β†’ Warehouse β†’ Clear the data. ⚠️ This will remove all user dictionaries and settings!

Once reset, the keyboard will return to factory settings, and the vibration will be turned off (if it was set by default), you will have to reconfigure languages, themes and other settings.

⚠️ Note: On some versions MIUI Resetting your keyboard settings may cause you to lose sync with your Google account (for Gboard).Be sure to have a backup of important words or phrases before the procedure.

5.Use of third-party applications for vibration control

If the system methods didn't work, you can use third-party utilities to flexibly adjust the vibration, including the keyboard, even if you have standard settings. MIUI That's not what they're supposed to do.-3 tested applications:

  • πŸ› οΈ Vibration Tuner (free, requires root): Allows you to adjust the vibration intensity for each system event separately, including the keyboard.
  • πŸ”‡ MacroDroid (free): Can automatically turn off keyboard vibration when you run certain apps (for example, only on WhatsApp).
  • πŸ“± Button Mapper (for non-root devices): Allows you to reassign button actions, including turning off vibrations for the virtual keyboard.

Using Vibration Tuner or similar applications with extended rights will require unlocking the bootloader and obtaining root rights. This is a risky procedure that can lead to a loss of warranty or unstable operation of the Redmi 10S. If you are not sure of your skills, it is better to abandon this method.

How to get rooted in Redmi 10S without risk
1. Unlock the bootloader through the official Mi Unlock tool (requires a Xiaomi account and wait 7 days). 2. Install custom recovery (TWRP) 3.Click Magisk through recovery. ⚠️ Before the procedure, make a backup copy of the data - the risk of "bricking" the device is ~5%.

If you don't want to take risks, try MacroDroid. It doesn't require root, and it lets you create automatic rules, for example, you can set up a macro that will turn off the keyboard vibration when you connect to Wi-Fi or at certain times of the day.

6. Solving problems if the vibration doesn't turn off

Sometimes the keyboard vibration on Redmi 10S continues to work despite all the settings.

  • πŸ› Firmware bug (especially relevant for MIUI 13.0.x).
  • πŸ”„ Application conflict (for example, if two keyboards are installed simultaneously).
  • πŸ“± Hardware malfunction (vibromotor is constantly operating).
