Vibration of the keyboard on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S can be useful for haptic feedback, but it is often a source of irritation โ especially if you quickly type or use your smartphone in silence. The sound of the screen bangs, constant shaking of the body and even accelerated battery discharge โ all these are the consequences of the vibration return on. Fortunately, you can turn it off in several ways: through standard MIUI settings, keyboard settings, or even the developerโs system tools.
Many users mistakenly think that keyboard vibration and system vibration (such as when touching buttons) are the same. In fact, these functions are controlled separately. Moreover, on the Redmi Note 10S, vibration output can work differently depending on the installed keyboard: a standard Gboard, a proprietary Mi Keyboard or third-party solutions like SwiftKey. In this article, we will discuss all the current methods of disconnection, from the obvious to the hidden.
If you've never changed the default keyboard, you probably have the Mi Keyboard installed, which is a Xiaomi-branded solution, and its vibration settings are deeper than those in Gboard, but they're more flexible. For example, you can adjust not only the vibration force, but also the duration here. But in Google's Gboard, the option to turn off the vibration output is on the surface โ but it doesn't always work consistently on MIUI firmware below version 13.
Before you start settings, make sure that the problem is with the keyboard, not the system vibration. To do this, check the smartphone's response when you press physical buttons (such as volume control) or when you hold icons on your desktop. If the vibration persists there, you will have to turn it off globally, which can affect notifications and other functions.
Method 1: Turn off vibration in the settings of the standard Mi Keyboard
Xiaomi's signature keyboard offers more customization options than Gboard, but its menu isn't always intuitive. To remove the vibration, follow these steps:
1. Open any application where you can enter text (such as Notes or Messages).
2.Tap the input field to make the keyboard appear.
3. Press the gear settings (โ๏ธ) top-right corner of the keyboard.
4. Select Keyboard Settings (or Additional Settings, depending on the MIUI version).
5. Go to the section Vibration when pressed and move the slider to the position Off..
If your version of MIUI doesnโt have a separate point for vibration, try an alternative path:
- Go to Settings โ System and device โ Language and input.
- Choose a Virtual Keyboard โ Mi Keyboard.
- Open Advanced Settings and find the option Tactile Feedback.
โ ๏ธ Note: Some firmware Mi Keyboard ignores system vibration settings. If after turning off the vibration output is maintained, try resetting the keyboard to factory settings (keyboard settings) โ Reset).
If you don't find the right item, you may have an outdated version of the keyboard installed, upgrade it via Google Play or the App Store (for Chinese firmware), and check if you have a MIUI beta installed, which may have different settings.

Method 2: Configure vibration in Gboard (keyboard from Google)
If you use Gboard instead of a standard keyboard, it's easier to turn off vibration, but here's the caveat: on some versions, the MIUI Gboard can ignore the system's vibration limitations, so you'll have to customize it separately.
Instructions:
- Open any text box and call Gboard.
- Press the gear icon (โ๏ธ) keyboard.
- Select Settings โ Sound when pressed.
- Turn off the Vibration option when pressed.
If there is no Vibration, then your version of Gboard does not support this feature (or it is disabled at the system level), in which case try updating the application or using method 4 (turning off vibration through the developer settings).
You can also customize the tap sound in Gboard, which is useful if you don't need the vibration, but you want to keep the audio feedback, so in the same menu, turn on the option of tapping Sound and select the melody.

Method 3: Global Vibration Disconnection in MIUI settings
If the keyboard doesn't go off vibration through its own settings, you can go a radical way of turning off all tactile feedback at the system level, and it will affect not only the keyboard, but also:
- ๐ฑ Vibration when touching navigation buttons (if software-based).
- ๐ Notifications for the sound (but not the sound!).
- ๐ฎ Tactile feedback in games (if implemented through system feedback) API).
To turn off the vibration completely:
- Go to Settings. โ Sound and vibration.
- Select Vibration (or Tactile Feedback in newer versions of MIUI).
- Turn off the vibration slider when touching.
Important: This method affects all system vibrations, so only use it if other methods have not worked, for example, after such a shutdown, the return and multitasking buttons (if they are software) will stop vibrating, as well as some interface elements.
โ ๏ธ Attention: On firmware MIUI 14+ Global vibration shutdown can cause some applications (e.g., banking or instant messengers) that use tactile feedback to confirm actions to crash. In this case, return the settings back and try method 5 (use method 5). ADB).
| MIUI version | The path to vibration settings | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MIUI 12 and below | Settings โ Sound โ Vibration | The option may be called "Tactile feedback". |
| MIUI 13 | Settings โ Sound and vibration โ Vibration | You can also adjust the vibration force. |
| MIUI 14+ | Settings โ Sound and vibration โ Tactile feedback | In some regional firmware, the option is hidden in "Additional settings" |
Method 4: Turn off vibration through developer modes
If standard methods don't work, you can use hidden developer settings, which are suitable for advanced users, because it requires activation of the developer mode and changes in system settings.
Steps:
- Activate Developer Mode: Go to Settings โ About Phone. Find the MIUI Version and click on it 7 times in a row. You will receive a notification: You became a developer!
Additional settings โ Developer parameters
Turn off vibration when touching
Haptic feedback
If you donโt have that option, try to find:
- ๐ง Window animation scale โ does not affect vibration, but is sometimes located near the desired settings.
- ๐ง Disable HW overlays โ Donโt touch this item, itโs responsible for graphics performance!
- ๐ง Force GPU rendering โ It is also not related to vibration.
On MIUI 13.5+ firmware, the option to turn off vibration in developer mode may not be available due to Xiaomiโs limitations for European and global versions, in which case only the use of ADB (method 5) or installing a third-party keyboard without vibration output is left.
๐ก
If after activating the developer mode you did not find the desired option, try searching for settings to enter the request "haptic" - this will help you quickly find hidden options.
Method 5: Using ADB to force vibrations to shut down
It's the most radical, but it's also the most reliable method, and it's good if you:
- ๐ต Vibration is not turned off through settings.
- ๐ After updating MIUI options gone.
- ๐ ๏ธ You are ready to use your computer and ADB-team.
Instructions:
- Install ADB on your computer: Download Platform Tools from the Android Developers site. Unpack the archive in any folder (for example, C:\adb).
Redmi Note 10S
PC:
- The command is: adb shell settings put system. haptic_feedback_enabled 0 To turn off the vibration of the keyboard separately: adb shell settings put system keyboard_vibration_on 0
If the vibration returned after the reboot, the system reset, in which case you can fix the changes by adding a command to the autoboot through an application like Tasker or MacroDroid.
โ ๏ธ Attention: Misuse of the right ADB Do not change other settings unless you are sure of their purpose. For example, the adb shell settings put global with incorrect values can disrupt notifications or networks.
๐ก
ADB-Teams are the only way to turn off vibration on custom firmware or beta versions MIUI, where the standard settings are blocked.
Method 6: Install a third-party keyboard without vibration
If all previous methods have failed, the last option is to install an alternative keyboard in which the vibration is turned off by default or easily adjustable. 10S:
To install and configure a third-party keyboard:
- Download the selected application from Google Play.
- Go to Settings โ System and Device โ Language and Entering โ Virtual Keyboard.
- Activate the new keyboard and set it by default.
- Open the keyboard settings and turn off the vibration (if you have an option).
The advantage of this method is that you not only get rid of vibration, but also get additional features: for example, SwiftKey has text prediction based on your writing style, and Fleksy has unique gestures for editing.

Next Next post: What to Do When the Vibration Returns
Sometimes, after updating MIUI or resetting the keyboard vibration will turn on on on its own.
- ๐ Turn off automatic Mi Keyboard update: Go to Google Play, find the keyboard and uncheck the Auto Update.
If the problem occurs after a firmware update, try rolling back to the previous version of MIUI (if possible) or wait for a patch from Xiaomi. Often, vibration bugs are fixed in the next builds.
The Redmi Note 10S with MIUI 13.0.6+ firmware has a bug that lets the keyboard vibrations turn on after the reboot. Solution: Turn off Adaptive Vibration in Settings โ Sound and Vibration.
