Modern fully wireless headphones, such as the popular Redmi Airdots series or Mi True Wireless Earbuds, provide incredible usability thanks to the absence of wires. However, despite the clever engineering, users often face a situation where devices stop seeing each other. Instead of stereo, you hear music in only one ear, or the phone sees two separate devices with the same name. It's not a breakdown, but a software failure that requires manual reconfiguration of Bluetooth modules.
The problem of desynchronization arises for various reasons: discharging one headphone before the other, switching between different smartphones or simply a software glitch of the operating system. Resetting and re-pairing allow gadgets to return to the factory logic of work, forcing them to re-find a "partner" and create a single network. In this article, we will discuss in detail the algorithm of actions to restore communication between the left and right channels.
Before proceeding with complex manipulations, it is important to understand the principle of operation. TWS-One headphone (master) connects to the phone and transmits the sound to the second (slave), if this chain is broken, user intervention is required. It is critical to complete all the steps consistently and without haste, as the timing of touchpads plays a crucial role in the success of the operation.
Preparation of devices for the synchronization procedure
The first and most important step is to completely clean up the connection history on your smartphone. As long as the phone remembers the old configurations, it will try to connect to the headphones in the old scenario, ignoring the new settings. Go to the Bluetooth menu of your Android or iOS device, search the list of Xiaomi Airdots (or Redmi Airdots) and select the option βForget the deviceβ or βDeleteβ. After that, be sure to turn off the Bluetooth on the phone completely.
Then you need to make sure that you have enough battery power. If one of the headphones is discharged, it may not enter pairing mode or quickly shut down during the setup process. Place both headphones in a charging case and let them stand there for 15-20 minutes. Even if the indicators are on, a small charge can be unstable for the energy-intensive reflashing procedure.
Also worth checking is the contact pads. Often, oxidation or dust on the contacts prevents normal charging and data transfer between the case and the headphones. Wipe the metal contacts on the headphones themselves and inside the case with dry soft cloth. Make sure that the magnets securely fix the devices in the sockets, and the indicators are lit in red, signaling the charging process.
β οΈ Note: Do not attempt to reset if the headphones are in the ears or hands. They should be inserted into or outside the charge case, but in close proximity to each other (not more than 10 cm), depending on the model and method of reset.
Reset method through touch control (for classic Airdots)
The most common way to reconnect for first- and second-generation models is to use touch panels. This method requires a certain skill, because you need to simultaneously press both earphones and hold them for a strictly allotted time. Take both earphones out of the charging case and make sure they are off (the indicators do not burn). If they are switched on automatically, put them back in the case to turn them off, and then re-pull them.
Put both earbuds on a flat surface or between your fingers so you can touch touch touch the touch areas simultaneously. Press and hold the touch areas on both earbuds at the same time. You need to hold the press for about 5-7 seconds. First you hear the voice message "Pairing" (Conjugation), then "Power Off." Don't let your fingers go right away! Continue holding for a few seconds after you turn off.
Once the headphones signal to turn off, release the sensors and wait 2-3 seconds. Then press and hold the touchpads on both devices again. This time hold them for about 20 seconds. The indicators will flash red and white several times. Your goal is to wait for the indicators to flash three times white in a row. This is a signal that the factory settings are reset and the pairing mode is activated.
βοΈ Checklist of successful reset
If the procedure is successful, the indicators should go out. Now turn on Bluetooth on your smartphone and start looking for new devices. The list should only appear one Redmi Airdots device, not two with L and R. This will mean that the headphones successfully synchronized with each other before connecting to the phone.
Alternative method of discharge through charging case
Some headphone modifications, especially newer versions or models like the Airdots 3 and Airdots Pro, may not support long-term sensor retention outside the case. There is a reset method based on the mechanics of the charge case, which is often more stable, as it eliminates the human factor of hand tremors and pressing dissynchronization.
Place both earbuds in the charge case, leaving the lid open. Make sure they sit on the contacts correctly and the charging indicators light up. Find a function button on the case case case (usually located between the headphone sockets or on the end). If the buttons on the case are not, this method may not suit your model, and you should return to touch control.
Press and hold the button on the case for 10-15 seconds. The indicator on the front panel of the case (or inside) should start flashing white, and then change the pattern of blinking to more frequent or color (for example, red). This means that the Bluetooth module inside the case (if any) or the headphones themselves received a reset signal. After that, close the cover of the case for 10 seconds, then open and remove the headphones.
| Model headphones | Type of management | Retention time (sec) | Indication of success |
|---|---|---|---|
| Airdots 1 / 2 | Touch-sensitive | 20-25 | Triple flashing. |
| Airdots 3 | Sensory/Case | 10-15 | Fast blinking. |
| Airdots Pro | Touch-sensitive | 15-20 | The indicator goes out |
| Redmi Buds 3 | Case (button) | 10 | Orange light |
