The vibration alarm clock in Xiaomi smartphones is the perfect solution for those who do not want to wake up their household or colleagues. However, standard MIUI settings do not always allow you to quickly switch to vibration mode without sound. In this article, we will discuss all possible ways, including hidden functions and third-party applications that will help you adjust the vibration without sound on any Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO device.
The problem is that the manufacturer often changes the layout of options depending on the version of the MIUI (12, 13, 14) and the smartphone model. For example, on the Xiaomi 13 Pro, the path to settings may be different from the Redmi Note 10. We took these nuances into account and prepared universal instructions that work on 90% of the brandβs devices, and you will learn how to circumvent the system limitations if the desired option suddenly disappeared after the upgrade.
Why does Xiaomiβs standard alarm clock not allow you to choose only vibration?
In most Xiaomi smartphones, when creating an alarm clock in the Watch app, only three options are available:
- π Sound (melody) + vibration)
- π³ Sound only (no vibration)
- π« No sound (complete shutdown)
The Vibration Only option is not on the menu, a deliberate decision by MIUI developers who believe that vibration is not reliable enough to wake up, but for many users, this is critical, such as when on duty in a hospital or on a night shift where sound is forbidden.
There are several explanations for this limitation:
- π± Energy saving: constant vibration consumes battery power faster than a beep.
- π Xiaomi fears users will sleep because of weak vibration.
- π Simplification of the interface: in the latest versions MIUI Remove the rarely used settings.
Method 1: Configure using the standard watch app (MIUI 12-14)
While there is no explicit option, some versions of MIUI can fool the system, a method that works on most devices, including the Xiaomi 12T, Redmi Note 11 and POCO X5:
- Open the Clock app (icon with dial).
- Go to the Alarm tab and click + to create a new one.
- Set a time and press the alarm clock.
- Select any tune (for example, by default).
- Return to the main alarm menu and turn off the sound with a Sound slider (not to be confused with Vibration!).
- Make sure the vibration slider is on.
Important: after such manipulations, the alarm clock will vibrate, but without sound, but in some firmware, after rebooting the smartphone, the settings may reset.
Make sure the sound is off |Vibration on |Alarm clock saved |Check "Do Not Disturb" mode-->
Method 2: Use of Do Not Disturb mode with exceptions
If the previous method did not work, you can go a workaround through the settings Do not disturb:
- Open Settings β Sound and vibration β Do not disturb.
- Activate the mode and select the Schedule.
- Set the time that coincides with your alarm clock (for example, from 06:50 to 07:10).
- In the Exceptions section, find alarm clocks and turn on the switch.
- Return to the Watch app, set an alarm clock and turn off the sound, leaving only vibration.
In this case, the smartphone will be in silent mode, but the alarm will only work with vibration, because the sound is blocked by the system.

If the vibration is too weak, check the settings in Settings β Special Options β Vibration. There you can increase the intensity.
Method 3: Third-party applications for alarm clock
If the standard methods don't work, third-party apps will come to the rescue, and we tested 5 popular alarm clocks from Google Play and selected the two most reliable ones:
| Annex | Vibration support | Works for MIUI? | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sleep as Android | β Yes (customizable) | β Yes, including MIUI 14) | Smart alarm clock with sleep analysis, vibration support + light signal |
| Alarmy | β Yes (only vibrations) | β Yes, may require permission) | Hard awakening, tasks to turn off the alarm clock |
| Timely | β No, just sound) | β Yes. | Beautiful design, but without vibration support |
To set up only vibrations in Sleep as Android:
- Install the application and provide all the permissions requested.
- Create a new alarm clock and go to its settings.
- In the Sound section, select No Sound.
- Turn on the Vibration option and adjust its intensity.
β οΈ Note: Some applications (such as Alarmy) require permissions to work in the background. β Annexes β Permits β Autostart and turn on the alarm clock autostart, otherwise it may not work.
Method 4: Setup via Tasker (for advanced users)
If you're ready for experiments, Tasker lets you create a vibration-only alarm clock, bypassing the limitations of MIUI.
- Install Tasker from Google Play.
- Create a new task (+ β New task).
- Add the action of Audio β Vibration.
- Set parameters: Duration: 10,000 ms (10 seconds) Amplitude: 255 (maximum) Template: 0.1000.1000 (pause 1c, vibration 1c)
- Create a profile (+ β Time) and specify the right time of the alarm clock.
- Link the created task to the profile.
The advantage of this method is complete vibration control: you can adjust the rhythm, intensity and even repetitions, but for beginners, Tasker can seem difficult.
How to debug a task in Tasker?
Frequent problems and their solutions
Even when set right, the vibration alarm may not work, and here are the most common reasons and ways to address them:
- π Smartphone is dead at night: Enable settings β Battery β Sleep regimen β Turn off the alarm clock.
- π Vibration not working: Check if it is globally disabled in Settings β Sound and vibration β Vibration on the bell.
- π Alarm clock resets after reset: It's a bug MIUI 13/14. The solution is to use third-party applications.
- π΅ It doesn't work in "Airplane" mode: Vibration is blocked by this mode. Turn it off or use Tasker.
β οΈ Note: On some models (Xiaomi) 11T, POCO F4) post-update MIUI 14, the ability to turn off the alarm clock sound when the vibration is on is lost, in which case only resetting the settings of the Watch application (Settings) will help. β Annexes β The clock β Warehouse β Clear the data).
Comparison of methods: which one to choose?
To make it easier for you to determine, we have compiled a comparative table:
| Method | Difficulty | Reliability | Works on MIUI 14? | Energy consumption |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard "Clock" | β | β Low (reset) | β Yes. | β‘ Low. |
| "Do not disturb" + alarm clock | ββ | β Medium | β Yes. | β‘ Low. |
| Third-party annexes | ββ | β β Tall. | β Yes. | β‘β‘ Average. |
| Tasker | ββββ | β β β Maximum | β Yes. | β‘β‘β‘ High. |
For most users, the best solution would be to combine a standard alarm clock with a switched off sound (Method 1) or the Sleep as Android app. Tasker is suitable for those who are ready to understand automatic tasks.

If you need a 100% wake-up guarantee, combine vibration with light indication (includes in the alarm settings in Sleep as Android).
