Do you want to listen to music or watch a movie with a friend, but you only have one Xiaomi smartphone? Or do you need to connect two different devices β like headphones and a speaker β at the same time? In this article, weβll look at all the possible ways to get Xiaomi (including Redmi and POCO) to work with two audio devices at once.
The standard Dual Audio feature came out of MIUI 12, but it doesn't work on all models or all types of headphones. We've tested solutions for different firmware versions and types of connectivity, from classic Bluetooth 5.0 to app workarounds. Importantly, some methods require root rights or additional hardware, but most are available to anyone.
If youβre looking for a way to sync sound between AirDots and wired headphones, or want to use two different Bluetooth devices, read on. Weβve compiled up-to-date data for 2026, including bypassing the restrictions on older models with MIUI 11 and below.
Official method: Dual Audio in MIUI 12+
Starting with MIUI 12, Xiaomi has added support for Dual Audio, which allows you to stream audio to two Bluetooth devices at once.
- π± It only works on smartphones with Bluetooth. 5.0 and newer (e.g. Xiaomi) 11/12/13 series, Redmi Note 10/11/12, POCO F3/F4/F5).
- π§ Both devices must support profiles. A2DP (for music, and AVRCP (steer).
- π The latency (or latency) can be 100-200 MS, which is noticeable when watching the video.
To activate Dual Audio:
- Connect the first device via Bluetooth (e.g. Xiaomi AirDots 3).
- Open Settings β Bluetooth.
- Click on the icon. βοΈ near the connected device.
- Choose the Dual Audio (Dual Audio) sound.
- Connect the second device and the sound will be duplicated in both.
β οΈ Note: Some models (e.g. Redmi 9s) MIUI 12.5) The Dual Audio option is hidden. To see it, first connect the second device, then reboot the Bluetooth module through Settings. β Annexes β Application management β Systemic β Bluetooth β Stop it.
Applications for sound duplication
If your Xiaomi doesnβt support Dual Audio at the system level, you can use third-party apps.
- πΉ SoundAssistant (from Samsung, but runs on Xiaomi) β allows you to direct sound to two Bluetooth devices.
- πΉ Bose Connect β if one of the devices is from Bose, you can sync it with the other.
- πΉ Bluetooth Dual Audio (requires Android 10)+) β emulates the function on old firmware.
Instructions for SoundAssistant:
- Download APK from APKMirror (officially Samsung-only app).
- Install by pre-allowing installation from unknown sources (Settings β Security β Unknown sources).
- Open the app and select Double Sound.
- Connect both Bluetooth devices via the standard Android menu.
- In SoundAssistant, activate the option to Enable Duplication.
β οΈ Note: Apps like SoundAssistant can cause artifacts of sound (crackling) on some Xiaomi models. If the sound is distorted, try disabling Codecs aptX/LDAC Bluetooth.
Install APK proven-source|Allow access to Bluetooth in the application settings|Disable other audio applications (e.g. Dolby Atmos)|Restart the phone after installation-->
3.Use of Bluetooth transmitter
If the software methods don't work, you can use an external Bluetooth transmitter with Dual Link support.
- π΅ Avantek APA-BT500 β Supports two devices simultaneously.
- π΅ 1Mii B06 Plus β low latency (40ms), ideal for video.
- π΅ Creative BT-W5 β It works with aptX. LL (low-latency).
How to connect:
- Connect the transmitter to Xiaomi via a 3.5mm connector or USB-C (depending on the model).
- Activate the Dual Link mode on the transmitter (usually a long press on the power button).
- Connect both Bluetooth devices to the transmitter.
- On your smartphone, select the transmitter as the sound source in Settings β Sound β Output device.
| Model transmitter | Dual Link Support Support | Delay (MS) | Price (2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Avantek APA-BT500 | Yes. | 80-120 | ~2 500 β½ |
| 1Mii B06 Plus | Yes. | 30-50 | ~3 800 β½ |
| Creative BT-W5 | Yes (aptX only) | 20-40 | ~5 200 β½ |
| Tronsmart Apollo Bold | Yes. | 60-100 | ~4 500 β½ |
The advantage of this method is stability and low latency, but you will have to carry an additional device with you. Suitable for Xiaomi with MIUI 11 and below, where there is no built-in support for Dual Audio.
π‘
If the transmitter is not detected through a 3.5 mm connector, try using the USB-C-Adapter with external DAC (for example, Apple) USB-C This will solve the recognition problem on some Xiaomi models.
4. Connection via AUX-split (for wired headphones)
If both are wired, you can use a Y splitter for a 3.5 mm connector.
- π§ UGREEN 30338 - splitter with gilded contacts.
- π§ Belkin RockStar supports microphone.
- π§ Samsung EO-EG920 β original accessory with good sound.
How to use:
- Connect the splitter to the 3.5mm Xiaomi connector.
- Insert the headphones in both sockets of the splitter.
- In Settings β Sound, select Wired Headphones as the output device.
β οΈ Note: Some Xiaomi models (e.g. Redmi Note) 8 Pro) when using a splitter, the microphone may be turned off. To return it, restart the phone or use a splitter with support CTIA/OMTP.
Cons of the method:
- β Doesn't work with Bluetooth headphones.
- β There may be interference if the headphone cables are too long.
- β New models without 3.5 mm will require an adapter USB-C β 3.5 mm.
Bypass solutions for older models (MIUI 11 and below)
If you have Xiaomi on MIUI 11 or older (like Redmi 8, Mi A2), there is no built-in Dual Audio feature.
Method 1: Use of Developer Options
Activate the Developer Mode:
- Go to Settings. β The phone.
- Press 7 times on the MIUI version.
- Back to Settings β Additionally. β For developers.
- Find the absolute volume level of Bluetooth and turn it off.
- Connect two devices β sometimes this allows you to duplicate the sound.
Method 2: Bluetooth Auto Connect Application
This application can force two devices to connect simultaneously:
- Download Bluetooth Auto Connect from Google Play.
- In the application settings, enable Multiple Connection.
- Add both Bluetooth devices to the list of trusted devices.
- Activate the option of Forced Connection.
Why is there no dual audio on MIUI 11?
6.Problems and solutions
When connecting two headphones to Xiaomi, you may have problems. Here's how to solve them:
| Problem. | Reason. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| The sound is only going to one device. | Dual Audio is not activated or supported | Check your Bluetooth settings or use an external transmitter |
| The sound is interrupted or distorted | Codec Conflict (aptX, AAC, SBC) | In Bluetooth settings, select SBC (most compatible codecs) |
| Delayed sound when watching video | High Bluetooth latency | Use a transmitter with aptX Low Latency or wired connection |
| You cannot adjust the volume separately. | MIUI Limitation | Use the Volume Booster app to set up separately |
If nothing helps, try resetting your Bluetooth settings:
- Go to Settings β Bluetooth.
- Press on. βοΈ β Forget the device for both headphones.
- Turn off and turn on Bluetooth again.
- Reconnect the devices.

On Xiaomi models with a Qualcomm processor (such as the POCO F3), Dual Audio is more stable than on MediaTek (Redmi 10), which is due to better Bluetooth stack optimization in Qualcomm chips.
