Why Xiaomiβs speaker might not connect to Samsungβs TV
Connecting Xiaomiβs wireless speaker to a Samsung TV seems like a simple task β but in practice, users face a lot of nuances. The main problem lies in the difference in Bluetooth protocols: modern models of Xiaomi Mi Portable Speaker or Redmi Soundbar often use Bluetooth 5.0+, while Samsungβs budget TVs (especially releases before 2019) are limited to Bluetooth 4.2 or completely devoid of it, which leads to communication interruptions, audio delays or complete incompatibility.
The second common cause is codec conflict: Samsung TVs default to SBC (basic standard) audio, while Xiaomi speakers support more advanced AAC or aptX. If the TV can't "negotiate" the format column, the connection is either not established or the sound is distorted, and this is solved manually through the audio output settings.
Finally, there are software restrictions, such as Samsung TVs on Tizen OS versions below 5.5 that may block third-party audio devices from connecting due to security policies, and Xiaomi speakers with MIUI Audio firmware sometimes require pre-binding to a smartphone to activate all features.
Method 1: Connect via Bluetooth (Step-by-step)
This is the most versatile method, but it only works if your Samsung TV is equipped with a Bluetooth module. You can check this from the Settings menu β Sound β Output β if there is a list of Bluetooth devices, then it is supported. Models without built-in Bluetooth will require an external adapter (we will talk about it in method 4).
Instructions for Xiaomi Mi Portable Speaker, Redmi Soundbar or Xiaomi Smart Speaker:
- Activate the pairing mode on the column: press the Power (or Bluetooth) button for 3-5 seconds until the indicator starts flashing blue/white.
- On the Samsung remote, click Home, then go to Settings β Sound β Sound Out β List of Bluetooth devices.
- Select your column from the list (the name will contain Mi or Redmi). If the device does not appear, update the list with the Update button.
- Confirm the pairing on the column (if required) and wait for the message Connected on the TV screen.
β οΈ Note: On Samsung TV series QLED 2020β2023 After connecting, you need to manually select the speaker as the main sound source in the Settings menu. β Sound. β Sound output β Bluetooth device. Otherwise, the sound will be duplicated on the built-in speakers.

Method 3: Connect via HDMI ARC (for soundbars)
If you have a Xiaomi soundbar (like Mi TV Soundbar or Redmi Soundbar Pro), the best way to do this is to use an HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) port, which will provide latency synchronization of sound and video, as well as support for Dolby Digital and DTS formats.
Requirements:
- πΊ Samsung TV with port HDMI ARC (usually signed on the back panel).
- π Xiaomi Soundbar with entrance HDMI ARC (There are models from 2021).
- π Cable HDMI 1.4 or later (it is better to use a certified High Speed).
Step-by-step:
- Connect the soundbar to your TV with an HDMI cable using ARC ports on both devices.
- Turn on the soundbar and put it into HDMI mode (Source or Input button).
- On the Samsung remote, press Home β Settings β Sound β Sound output.
- Select the HDMI ARC Receiver (or External Speaker).
- In the HDMI Settings menu, enable the Anynet+ (HDMI-CEC) option β this will allow you to control the soundbar volume from the TV remote.

|---|---|---|---|
| Mi TV Soundbar (2020) | Yes. | 4K @ 60 Hz | Dolby Digital, DTS |
| Redmi Soundbar Pro (2021) | Yes. | 8K @ 30 Hz | Dolby Digital+, DTS:X |

Method 4: Connect via Bluetooth adapter (if the TV is not Bluetooth)
If your Samsung TV doesnβt support Bluetooth (like the 2016β2018 J-series or the Crystal UHD TU7000), you can use an external Bluetooth transmitter that connects to the TVβs audio output and transmits the signal to the speaker wirelessly.
Equipment required:
- πΆ Bluetooth transmitter with 3.5 mm input or RCA (recommend 1Mii B06 Plus or Avantek. APTX).
How to set up:
- Connect the transmitter to the TV's audio output with a cable.
- Connect the transmitter to power via USB (you can use a USB port on TV if it supports 5V/1A).
- Activate the pairing mode on the transmitter (usually with a long press of a single button).
- On the Xiaomi column, turn on Bluetooth and find the transmitter in the list of devices (the name will be type B06 Plus or APTX-TX).
- On the TV in the menu Settings β Sound. β Output of sound select Audio output (AUDIO OUT).
π‘ If the sound is interrupted, try switching the transmitter to aptX Low Latency mode (if supported). This will reduce the latency to 40 ms, which is critical for watching movies.
