Wireless speakers have become an integral part of modern multimedia systems, but connecting them to Xiaomi Mi TVs often raises questions among users. Although most Mi TV 4/5/6/P1/Q1/Q2 models support Bluetooth 4.2/5.0, the pairing algorithm may vary depending on the firmware version and type of speaker. In this article, we will discuss all the current ways of connecting, from the standard settings menu to bypass solutions for older models without a built-in Bluetooth module.
Xiaomi TVs are based on Android TV or PatchWall (depending on the region), which affects the location of menu items. For example, in the firmware for the European market, the Bluetooth option may be hidden in the Devices section, whereas in the Chinese versions it is made separately.
If you encounter errors like Bluetooth pairing failed or Unable to connect to device, you will find unique solutions for Xiaomi Mi TV that are not described in standard instructions, such as resetting the Bluetooth module through the service menu or forced updating of audio drivers.
1. Compatibility check Bluetooth column and Xiaomi Mi TV
Before you try to plug in a speaker, make sure your Xiaomi TV supports Bluetooth at all. This depends on the model and year of release:
- πΊ Mi TV 4/4A/4C/4S (2018β2019): Bluetooth 4.2 (Not all versions are available, check the specifications)
- πΊ Mi TV 5/5 Pro/5X (2020β2021): Bluetooth 5.0 (version)
- πΊ Mi TV 6/6 Pro/6 OLED (2022β2023): Bluetooth 5.2 + support for aptX and AAC
- πΊ Mi TV P1/Q1/Q2 (2021β2026): Bluetooth 5.0/5.2 stable
To know the Bluetooth version of your TV:
- Open Settings β About TV β Specifications.
- Scroll to the Wireless Networks section, and the Bluetooth version will be listed there.
Also check if your speaker supports A2DP (for audio) and AVRCP (for playback control) profiles. Most modern speakers (e.g. JBL Charge 5, Sony SRS-XB43, Xiaomi Mi Portable Bluetooth Speaker) are compatible with Mi TV, but cheap no-name devices can run unstablely.
β οΈ Attention: Xiaomi Mi TVs TV 3S (2016β2017) and some modifications of the Mi TV 4A They do not have Bluetooth built-in, and you will need an external adapter (see Section 5).
2. Standard connection via the settings menu
This is the easiest way to do it, which works on most Bluetooth-enabled Mi TV models, and is applicable to PatchWall (China/India) and Android TV (Europe/Russia).
Step 1: Put the column in pairing mode.
- π Hold the power button (or a separate Bluetooth button) for 3-5 seconds until the indicator flashes.
- π Some models (e.g. Xiaomi Mi) AI Speaker: You need to say "Hey Mi, connect Bluetooth".
Step 2. On the TV:
- Go to Settings β Devices β Bluetooth (or Settings β Connections β Bluetooth in PatchWall).
- Activate the Bluetooth slider (if it is turned off).
- In the list of available devices, select the name of your column.
- Confirm the pairing on the column (if PIN input is required, it is usually 0000 or 1234).
Once successfully connected, the sound from the TV will automatically be transmitted to the speaker. To return the sound to the built-in speakers, turn off the Bluetooth device in the same menu.

3. Connection through Developer Mode (for power users)
If the standard method doesnβt work (for example, the column doesnβt appear in the list), you can try to turn on the developer mode and force device detection to be activated, which helps with Bluetooth drivers failures.
Step 1: Enable the Developer Mode:
- Go to Settings. β On TV.
- Find the line build number and click on it 7 times in a row (the notification will appear "You became a developer").
Step 2: Activate the advanced Bluetooth settings:
- Go back to the main settings menu and open the settings for developers.
- Find options: Enable Bluetooth Detection in the background β Install On. Debug over Bluetooth β Install On. (if any)
Settings β System β Reboot
Step 3. Reconjugate the pairing:
After rebooting, try reconnecting the column via the standard Settings β Bluetooth menu. If the device is still not visible, check if the connection is blocked by antivirus or VPN (on some Mi TV firmware, this is possible).
β οΈ Note: Do not enable Bluetooth Debugging on a permanent basis β this can create a vulnerability to connect third-party devices without your knowledge.

4. Solving Connection Problems
If the column is not connected or the sound is interrupted, use this table for diagnosis:
| Problem. | Possible cause | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| The column does not appear in the list of devices | The old firmware of the TV | Update the software through Settings β System β Update |
| The sound is interrupted or stuttered | Interference from other Bluetooth devices (such as Wi-Fi routers) | Disable unnecessary devices or move the router away from the TV |
| Connection breaks in 10 to 30 seconds | Low battery charge column | Charge the column to 100% and repeat pairing |
| Unable to connect error | Bluetooth Profile Conflict | Reset Bluetooth settings on your TV (Settings β System β Reset β Network Reset) |
If none of these methods worked, try resetting the sound settings:
- Go to Settings β Sound β Additional settings.
- Select Resetting Sound Settings.
- Reconnect the column.
On some models, the Mi TV Q1/Q2 helps roll back the firmware to the previous version (if the problem appeared after the update).
- Download the old firmware from the official Xiaomi website (support section).
- Write it down on a flash drive in update.zip format.
- Connect the flash drive to the TV and update the software manually through Settings β Update β Local Update.
Instructions for connection:
- Connect the Bluetooth transmitter to the TVβs audio output (AUDIO OUT or HEADPHONE port).
- Connect the transmitter to the power (through USB-TV port or separate power supply).
- Turn the transmitter into pairing mode (usually the Pair button is held for 3 seconds).
- Turn on the speaker and connect it to the transmitter (like a normal Bluetooth device).
- On the TV, select the sound source External speakers or Audio output.

β οΈ Note: When using an external transmitter, sound can be transmitted with a delay (lag) of up to 100-200 ms. To view movies, this is critical - select a transmitter with support for aptX Low Latency.
6.Sound optimization after connection
After successfully connecting the speaker, the sound may be too quiet, distorted or unbalanced, due to the audio output settings on the Xiaomi Mi TV.
Volume setting:
- π On some columns (e.g, JBL) The volume control is blocked by the TV to unlock it:
Choice of audio format:
Xiaomi TVs support several Bluetooth audio formats:
- π΅ SBC β basic format, works with all columns, but with mediocre quality.
- π΅ AAC β Best for music, supported by Apple AirPods and most speakers Sony/JBL.
- π΅ aptX β High quality, but requires column support (e.g., Mi) TV 6/Q2).
Removal of echoes or interference:
If the sound is accompanied by noise:
- π Check if the column is too close to the TV or router (at least 1 meter).
- π Turn off the Bass Boost modes in the column settings or 3D Sound β They may conflict with the sound processing on Mi TV.
- π Reset the TV sound settings to factory (Settings) β Sound. β Reset).
π‘
For models Mi TV Q2 and Mi TV 6 OLED available Bluetooth Audio Delay option in the audio settings β with its help you can manually adjust the delay (lag) from 0 to 300 ms.
7. Alternative ways to connect (if Bluetooth does not work)
If Bluetooth connectivity is not possible (for example, due to hardware limitations), consider alternatives:
1. Wi-Fi connection (DLNA/AirPlay):
- πΆ Some speakers (such as Sonos or Bose Smart Speaker) support Wi-Fi audio transmission.
- πΆ On Xiaomi TV, turn on the Miracast option or DLNA In Settings β Connections β Wireless projection.
- πΆ In the column app, select the TV as the sound source.
