Are you missing important calls because of a quiet ringtone or noisy environment? A flash of light on Xiaomi can be your life-saving signal β a bright flashing light is guaranteed to attract attention even in the loudest environment. This feature is especially useful for people with hearing impairments, in office spaces or at night when the phone is lying down.
Unlike the iPhone, where the LED flash is customized through standard settings, on Xiaomi (including Redmi and POCO), this process depends on the version of MIUI and the device model. In some firmware, the option is hidden in the depths of the menu, and in some cases requires the installation of additional applications. We tested all current methods on MIUI 14/15 and Android 13/14 - in this article only working solutions without water.
Why the flash doesnβt work when calling Xiaomi: 3 main reasons
Before you set up, check if you have any typical problems blocking the function:
- π Energy saving: In the "Ultra-Economic" mode or with low battery charge (<15%) The system automatically turns off the flash to extend the operating time.
- π± Hardware restrictions: Budget models (Redmi) 9A, POCO C31) may not support the function due to the lack of a separate LED (only the camera is used).
- π§ Application Conflict: Third-party launchers (like Nova Launcher) or optimizers (like Greenify) sometimes block system notifications.
If your Xiaomi falls under any of these, skip the settings β it wonβt work.
β οΈ Attention: On devices with AMOLED-screens (for example, Xiaomi 13 Pro, Redmi) K60) flash may flash too bright in the dark, and we recommend reducing the intensity through special settings.
Method 1: Standard settings with "Special Opportunities" (MIUI 14/15)
This is the most reliable method for most modern Xiaomi smartphones, and the instructions are relevant for MIUI 14 firmware and newer:
- Open the Settings. β Special facilities.
- Go to the section Rumor β Flash notifications.
- Activate the flash switch when you call.
- In additional settings, select: π¦ Flash color (white/color β depending on the model) β‘ Intensity (recommended) 50-70% Balance visibility and battery savings) π Blinking frequency (optimum) 1-2 momentarily)
Once activated, check the work by calling the phone from another device. If the flash does not flash, restart the smartphone and try again.
Is the function included in the "Special Opportunities"?
Battery level above 15%?
Is the phone not in "Do Not Disturb" mode?
Have you tried restarting the device?

Method 2: Configure with Sound and Vibration (for older versions of MIUI)
If you have MIUI 12 or older (relevant to Redmi Note 8/9, POCO X3), the path to setup is different:
- Go to Settings. β Sounds and vibrations.
- Select Flash for incoming calls (may be called Light Effects).
- Turn on the option and set the blinking parameters.
Some devices may not have this item, in which case use Method 3 or Method 4.
| Xiaomi model | Supported version of MIUI | The path to setting up the flash |
|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi 13/13 Pro | MIUI 14+ | Special features β Rumor β Flash notifications |
| Redmi Note 12 | MIUI 13/14 | Sounds and vibrations β Challenge flash |
| POCO F5 | MIUI 14 (Global) | Additionally. β Special opportunities β Outbreak. |
| Redmi 10A | MIUI 12.5 | Requires third-party software (see Method 4) |

Method 3: Use the Flash Alerts 2 system application (for all versions)
If the standard settings donβt work, install the official Xiaomi app, Flash Alerts 2, available on Google Play and App Gallery:
- Download and install Flash Alerts 2.
- Open the application and provide all the permissions requested (access to notifications, camera).
- Turn on the flash switch when calling.
- In the Settings section β Type of flash select: π‘ Camera (using the main flash) π± Screen (screen blinking - for devices without LEDs)
Important: The app may conflict with some battery optimizers. Once installed, add it to the exceptions in Settings β Battery β Battery Optimization.
π‘
If the flash doesnβt flash after installing Flash Alerts 2, try turning off the Auto Start function for the app in the security settings, then turn it on again.
Method 4: Alternative flash applications (if nothing works)
If previous methods didn't work, try third-party utilities. We tested 3 reliable options:
- π¦ Flash Notification 2 - supports color and flash frequency settings.
- β‘ Flash Alerts (from another developer) β runs on Android 10+ No root.
- π± Light Flow - Advanced settings for notifications (paid version.
Check reviews before installing, some apps may contain ads or require unnecessary permissions.
- Open the app and provide access to Notices and Camera.
- Turn on the flash option when calling.
- Set up the blinking parameters (intensity, color, duration).
β οΈ Apps like Light Flow can drain the battery faster 10-15%, If background processes are enabled, keep track of energy consumption in Settings. β Battery β Battery utilization.
Method 5: Manually configure via ADB (for advanced users)
If you're familiar with ADB, you can activate the flash through the command line, and this method works even on devices where the function is disabled by the manufacturer.
You'll need:
- π₯οΈ Computer with installed ADB Tools.
- π± Included Debugging by USB on the phone (Settings) β The phone. β Version. MIUI β Press 7 times, then return to Additional β For developers).
Connect your phone to your PC and execute the commands:
adb shell settings put system notification_light_pulse 1
adb shell settings put system notification_light_color 0xFFFFFFFFTo turn off the flash, use:
adb shell settings put system notification_light_pulse 0Note: This method may not work on some custom firmware. After you execute the commands, restart the device.
What if the ADB does not recognize the device?
How to turn off flash when calling Xiaomi
If the lights irritate or drain the battery, they can be deactivated:
- For standard settings: go back to Settings β Special Features β Hearing β Notification flash and turn off the option.
- For Flash Alerts 2: open the app and deactivate the Flash switch when calling.
- For third-party apps: remove them or disable notifications in Settings β Apps β [App Name] β Notifications.
If the flash continues to flash after shutting down, clear the Phone app cache (Settings β Apps β Phone β Storage β Clear the cache).

A flash on a call consumes ~5-7% of battery power per hour of active use. If you want autonomy, turn off the feature manually or set it up only for selected contacts.
