Are you tired of the quiet sound on your Xiaomi? Music barely audible in noisy transport and notifications have to be listened to several times? The problem of low volume is relevant for many devices of the brand - from the budget Redmi to the flagship Xiaomi 14 and Mi TVs. The reasons can lie in both the software limitations of MIUI and the hardware features of the speakers.
In this article, we'll look at 7 working ways to turn up the volume, from simple audio profile settings to engineering menus and third-party apps. Importantly, not all methods are safe for speakers. For example, forced volume up through build.prop can cause sound distortion or overheating. We've flagged the risky options with special warnings โ read them carefully.
The instructions are valid for MIUI 14/15 and Android TV devices (including Mi TV Stick, Mi Box and Xiaomi TV A/C/P series). If your model is older than 2018, check the compatibility of methods - some features may not be available.
1. Basic volume settings in MIUI
Start by checking the obvious parameters. MIUI has separate regulators for media, notifications and alarms, and users often turn up the volume of music but forget about the other channels.
How to check:
- ๐ Open the Settings. โ Sound and vibration
- ๐ฑ Click on Volume (or swipe down the notification panel and tap the volume icon)
- ๐ต Make sure Multimedia Sliders, Notifications and Alarms are raised to maximum
- ๐ Turn off the Do Not Disturb mode (bell icon with cross-out)
On Xiaomi TVs, the way is different: Settings โ Sound โ Volume Control. Here, also check Volume Alignment โ if it is turned on, the system automatically lowers the volume when switching channels.
โ ๏ธ Note: On some models (e.g. Redmi Note 10 Pro) after upgrading to MIUI 14 resets the sound profile settings. If the volume suddenly drops, check if the phone switches to Quiet or Vibration mode.
2. Enabling sound amplification in special features settings
Android has a hidden feature for people with hearing impairments called "Amprovement of Sound," which increases volume by 15 to 20 percent by changing the frequency response, and minus it, it can become less clear, it can get hoarse at high frequencies.
How to activate:
- Go to Settings โ Special Features โ Sound Improvement (on some firmware path: Settings โ Additional โ Special Features)
- Turn on the switch. Sound amplification.
- Set up the gain level slider (we recommend starting at 50%)
- Activate Left/Right Channel Adaptation if you want to balance the sound in your headphones
On Xiaomi TVs, a similar feature is called Speech Amplification and is in Settings โ Sound โ Additional. It is useful for watching movies with quiet dialogue, but useless for music.
๐ก
If the sound gets distorted after the amplification is turned on, try reducing the level to 30-40%, which will reduce the load on the speakers, but will keep the volume up.
3.Use of uniform sound (Dolby Atmos)
Dolby Atmos not only improves spatial sound, but can also indirectly increase volume by optimizing frequencies. On Xiaomi devices, it works in different ways:
- ๐ฑ On smartphones (such as Xiaomi) 13T, POCO F5) โ In Settings โ Sound and vibration โ Sound quality โ Dolby Atmos
- ๐บ On TVs, in Settings โ Sound. โ Sound modes โ Dolby
Select a movie or music profile, which maximizes the amplification of the average frequencies. The voice profile is suitable for calls, but does not increase the volume of the media.
| The device | Support for Dolby Atmos | Max, volume up. |
|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi 12/13/14 | Yeah (hardware) | up to +12 per cent |
| Redmi Note 11/12 | Yes (programmatic) | up to +8% |
| POCO X5/F5 | Yes (programmatic) | up to +10% |
| Mi TV Q2/Q1E | Yeah (hardware) | up to +15 percent |
| Redmi 10A/9A | No. | โ |
On Xiaomi Dolby Atmos-enabled TVs, turning on this feature automatically turns off the volume limiter, which gives an additional +5% to the maximum level, but with prolonged use at high volume, speakers can overheat.
4. Change of parameters in the engineering menu (MTK/Qualcomm)
The menu allows you to manually adjust the parameters of the sound system, including volume limits. Danger: incorrect values can damage the speakers or microphone. Use this method only if the previous ones did not help.
Instructions for Qualcomm processors (most Xiaomi smartphones):
- Open the Phone app and enter the combination: ##36446337###
- Go to the Hardware Testing section โ Audio
- Select Loud Speaker Mode (or Headset Mode for headphones)
- Increase Max Vol values by 5-10 units (no more!)
- Save the settings and restart the device
For MediaTek processors (e.g., Redmi 10C, POCO M5):
- Enter the phone keyboard: ##4636##
- Select Hardware Testing โ Audio โ Speaker Test
- Change the Volume setting (maximum +15%)
โ ๏ธ Attention: On devices with MIUI 15 engineering menus can be blocked. If nothing happens after you enter the code, try using the app. MTK Engineering Mode from Google Play (root rights required for full access).
Record the current parameters |Do not increase the volume by more than 15% |Check the speaker after changes |Reset the settings when wheezing-->
5. Modification of the build.prop file (for experienced ones only)
The build.prop file contains system parameters, including volume limits. editing requires root rights and can cause unstable device performance. We recommend this method only for older models (e.g. Redmi 4X, Mi A1), where other methods do not work.
How to change it:
- Install a file manager with root support (such as Root Explorer)
- Open the file on the path /system/build.prop
- Add the following lines at the end of the file: ro.audio.loudness.enable=true persist.audio.fluence.speaker=true persist.audio.fluence.voicecall=true persist.audio.fluence.voicerec=false persist.audio.fluence.ring=true persist.audio.fluence.ring
- Save the file and restart the device
These settings disable some of the limitations of the sound system, but do not guarantee volume gains on all models. On Xiaomi with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor (such as the Xiaomi 13 Ultra), this method usually does not work due to hardware limitations.
What happens if you make a mistake in build.prop?
6. Third-party applications for sound amplification
If you don't want to go through the system settings, try specialized utilities. We tested 5 popular applications, and the best results were:
- ๐ Volume Booster GOODEV โ Increases volume by 20 to 30 percent, but can distort sound at high frequencies
- ๐ง Equalizer FX โ Allows you to configure the equalizer to enhance low/medium frequencies
- ๐ฑ Precise Volume โ gives precise control over volume (1% step instead of the standard 15%)
Xiaomi Android TVs run the SoundAssistant app (installed via Send Files to TV) and add a separate volume control for each app (e.g., you can make YouTube louder than Netflix).
Important: Some applications (like Volume Booster) require you to turn off Absolute Volume in the developer settings.
- Activate Developer Mode (7 times click on the MIUI version in Settings โ About Phone)
- Go to Settings โ Additional โ For Developers
- Turn off the setting Turn off absolute volume
7. Hardware solutions: cleaning speakers and replacing the grid
If software methods didn't work, the problem could be physical contamination of the speakers, dust, hair and debris particles accumulate under the grid over time, reducing the volume by 30-50%, especially for devices older than 2 years.
How to clean the speakers:
- ๐งน Use a soft brush (for example, for makeup) or a compressed air balloon
- ๐ฑ For smartphones: direct the jet of air at an angle of 45ยฐ to the dynamic (do not blow straight!)
- ๐บ For TVs: Remove the back cover (if possible) and vacuum the speakers at minimum power
- ๐ง For deep cleaning, disassemble the device and wipe the speakers with an alcohol napkin.
If the sound hasn't improved after cleaning, check the integrity of the speakers. On Xiaomi smartphones, a common problem is the detachment of the membrane (especially after falls), in which case only a replacement speaker will help.
- ๐ฑ Dynamics for Redmi Note: 800-1500 โฝ
- ๐บ Dynamics for Mi TV 4S: 1200โ2500 โฝ
โ ๏ธ Note: On the Xiaomi TV series QLED (Like Mi. TV Q1E) They're integrated into the body, and replacing them requires a complete disassembly of the screen -- trust that to the service center.

Before cleaning the speakers, be sure to turn off the device and take out the battery (for smartphones).A vacuum cleaner or wet cleaning with the power on can cause a short circuit!
