Motion sensors from Xiaomi are among the most popular smart home devices due to their availability, compactness and integration with the Mi Home/Aqara ecosystem. However, like any wireless device, they depend on the power source. What batteries are used in the motion sensors Xiaomi
All motion sensors Xiaomi and Aqara are powered by lithium batteries such as CR (from the English Coin Cell).
- 🔋 CR2450 3V — It's the most common variant, and it's used in most models, including the Aqara Motion Sensor (RTCGQ11LM) Mi Motion Sensor first generation.
- 🔋 CR2477 3V — is less common, but suitable for some modifications (for example, sensors with increased autonomy time).

As a rule, the original battery complete with the sensor is Panasonic CR2450 or Maxell CR2450. But similar manufacturers from other manufacturers will also fit: Duracell, Energizer, GP. The main thing is that the cell is lithium (not alkaline!) and has a voltage of 3 Volts.
How to know if the battery is time to change
Xiaomi motion sensors don’t always explicitly signal battery discharge, but there are a few indirect signs that can help identify the problem:
- ⚡ Notification in Mi Home/Aqara. The app may have a message called “Low Battery” (but not all models support it).
- ⏳ Delays: Sensor responds to movement late or misses events.
- 🔄 Spontaneous shutdowns: The device periodically disappears from the network and reappears.
- 📉 Reduced range. The signal gets weaker, the sensor stops catching motion at the same distance.
If you see at least one of these symptoms, check the battery first. You can use a multimeter (if you have one at hand):
- Remove the power from the sensor.
- Connect the multimeter probes to the battery contacts (+ and −).
