If you've just unpacked the Xiaomi F9 or you've been using it for a while, but you haven't figured it out, this is the guide for you. We're not going to limit ourselves to the standard tips like "push the button," but to explain why the robot behaves the way it does and how to make it work as efficiently as possible.

Preparing the robot for wet cleaning: what to do before the first launch

Before you turn on the app's wash mode, make sure the robot is physically ready for wet cleaning.Neglecting this stage is the main reason why the F9 doesn't wash the floor or does it poorly.

Start by checking the equipment. The robot box should have:

  • 🧺 Mope nozzle (plastic platform with clamps for napkins)
  • 💧 Water container (transparent tank with a volume of 200 ml with a lid)
  • 🧼 Microfibre wipe (usually white, with sewn corners for fixation)
  • 🔧 Fixed screws (if the mopose nozzle is not installed from the factory)

If any of these elements are missing, wet cleaning won’t work even with the right settings in the app. Also note the state of the wipe: if it has already been used and has become gray, it needs to be washed or replaced. Xiaomi recommends using only original wipes, as they have special impregnation for better dust collection and even distribution of water.

Next, check the installation of the mopose nozzle:

  1. Turn the robot over and find the nozzle compartment (it is located next to the main dust collector).
  2. If the nozzle is not installed, attach it with two screws (come complete).
  3. Make sure the clamps for the napkin move freely and are not jammed.

⚠️ Warning: If you've recently taken apart a cleaning or repair robot, check if there are any foreign objects (screws, pieces of plastic) that may block the water supply mechanism, which can cause a problem. F9 Ignore the team for wet cleaning.

Installation of a water tank: nuances that are not written in the instructions

The water tank in the Xiaomi F9 is mounted on top, under the lid of the robot. It would seem that there is something wrong with this? However, there are several critical points that affect the quality of cleaning:

  3. Install the tank on the robot and make sure that the water freely enters the tube (you can slightly press the tank - a drop of water should appear on the napkin).

Also pay attention to water quality. Xiaomi recommends using distilled or boiled water to avoid lime plaque on the interior parts. If you have hard water, wash the tank with vinegar solution once a month (1 part vinegar to 3 parts water).

Another important point is the position of the robot when refueling. If you pour water while the F9 was standing at an angle (for example, on a carpet with an uneven surface), the sensor may not correctly determine the level of the fluid. Always fill the tank when the robot is standing on a flat hard surface.

Setting up wet cleaning in the Mi Home application: step-by-step instructions

Now, to the software part, to get the wet cleaning on, you need to:

  1. Open the Mi Home app and select your Xiaomi F9 robot.
  2. Go to the Cleaning section (the broom icon in the bottom menu).
  3. Click on the Cleaning Settings icon (cog in the upper right corner).
  4. Turn on the slider Wet cleaning.

But that's only half the story, and when you activate the mode, you'll see an additional menu with the wash intensity settings, and you can choose from three levels.

  • 🌊 Weak - minimal moisture, suitable for laminate and parquet.
  • 💦 Medium - optimal mode for tiles and linoleum.
  • 🚿 Strong – Maximum water supply for persistent contaminants (use carefully!).

And there's also a wash after cleaning option on this menu, and if you turn it on, the robot will first walk around the room in vacuum mode, and then repeat the route with a wet napkin, which increases the cleaning time, but guarantees a better result.

If your Mi Home app does not have a Wet Cleaning option, check:

One of the key advantages of the Xiaomi F9 is that it can selectively wash individual rooms or areas, but to do so, the robot must first build an accurate map of your home, and if the map is not complete or incomplete, wet cleaning can work unpredictably.

To make the robot map correctly:

  1. Run it in Full Cleaning (not wet!) mode and let you walk around all the rooms.
  2. After finishing cleaning, check the map in the Mi Home app (Map section).
  3. If any rooms are missing or incorrectly divided, manually edit the boundaries using the Edit tool.

When the map is ready, you can configure areas for wet cleaning:

  1. Go to the Map section. → Setting up zones.
  2. Select Add Zone and circle the area where you want to wash the floor.

Save the settings and start cleaning.

If you want the robot to not wash certain areas (like carpets), add them as no-go zones.

  3. Choose the restriction type: No cleaning or No wet cleaning.
