Modern Xiaomi TVs, powered by Android TV or PatchWall’s own interface, offer users a huge multimedia experience. One of the most popular features is wirelessly transferring images from a smartphone or tablet to a large screen, allowing them to enjoy high-resolution photos, videos, and even games from a mobile device. The setup process may seem complicated only at first glance, but in reality it only takes a few minutes.
There are many scenarios where you need to stream a screen. You can show a presentation to colleagues, show vacation videos to guests, or just sit comfortably on the couch while the phone is on the table. Xiaomi Mi TV and Redmi TV are equipped with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules, making them ready to work right out of the box. In this article, we will discuss all the current methods of connection, from native features of the system to third-party applications.
To get started, make sure your TV is connected to a Wi-Fi network. This is a critical condition for most wireless data methods described below. If the router and TV are in different frequency bands (e.g., 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), there may be trouble detecting devices, so it is better to use a single network.
Preparation of equipment and network
Before you start setting up the broadcast, you need to do basic hardware training. Make sure your smartphone and Xiaomi TV are on the same local network. This means that both devices must be connected to the same router. If you have a dual-band router, try connecting both gadgets to the network at 5 GHz for maximum data transfer speeds without delay.
Check the version of the operating system on your TV. Go to Settings → About TV → Version. If system updates are available, install them, as newer versions of the firmware often fix Miracast and Chromecast protocol errors. It is not superfluous to check the energy saving settings on a smartphone. Aggressive energy saving modes can block the background processes necessary to maintain a stable connection. It is recommended to turn off the Charge Saving mode or add the broadcast app to the exclusion list for viewing.

Use the built-in Mi Home and Cast function
The easiest way to stream to a Xiaomi TV is to use the built-in “Translation” (Cast) feature, which is based on the Google Cast protocol, which is integrated into most modern Android TVs. You don’t need to install additional apps on the TV to start, just find the appropriate icon in the application on your smartphone.
Open the app you want to bring to the screen. This could be YouTube, Netflix, Google Photos, or any other media service. In the app interface, find the broadcast icon — usually a rectangle with waves in the corner. Click on it and select your Xiaomi Mi TV from the list. If the list is empty, check if Bluetooth is on the phone, as it is used for the initial device search.

It's important to understand the difference between broadcasting content and mirroring the screen. Android Screen Mirror (Miracast)
If you want to show a whole screen of a smartphone, rather than a specific video, for example, to show an app or game, use Miracast technology. On Xiaomi TVs, this feature is often called Wireless Monitor or Screen Mirroring, which allows you to create an exact copy of the image from a mobile device on a TV in real time.
On PatchWall or pure Android TV, you need to activate the reception mode. Go to the app menu and find the shortcut "Wireless Display," "Miracast" or "Wireless Monitor." After you run, you'll see a message on the screen waiting for the connection. Now we'll go to the smartphone settings.
On Android smartphones, the path to function may vary depending on the shell manufacturer, usually hidden in the notification curtain or in the screen settings menu.

Broadcast from iPhone and iPad (AirPlay)
Apple device owners may be faced with the question of how to broadcast to Xiaomi TV, as ecosystems are different. Fortunately, modern Xiaomi TVs support AirPlay 2 protocol or have built-in support for Apple AirPlay. This allows you to stream content from an iPhone, iPad or Mac without buying an Apple TV console.
The connection process is as simple and intuitive as possible for iOS users. Open the Control Point on your device (swipe down from the top right corner on new models or swipe up on models with a button).
Click on it and select your Xiaomi TV from the list. If you use older TV models that don't have native AirPlay support, you can install the "AirScreen" or "AirPin" app from the Google Play Store on the TV itself. These emulators create a virtual receiver that Apple devices understand.

What to do if AirPlay is not working?
Use of the Mi Home app
To integrate the smartphone deeply into the smart home ecosystem, Xiaomi recommends using the official Mi Home app, which allows not only to control smart lights and sockets, but also to stream media files to the TV, a method that is especially convenient if you want to show a photo gallery or video stored in the memory of the phone.
Run the Mi Home app on your smartphone and make sure your TV is added to the device list. If it's not available, press + and follow the instructions to add a new device. Once you pair successfully, select the TV in the list. The control interface often has a Translation or Cast button that lets you select files to display.
The advantage of using Mi Home is the ability to control playback queue and adjust display settings. You can create slideshows from photos with music or stream video files of various formats that are not supported by standard players.
However, if the built-in tools can’t handle the file format, you can use third-party solutions, such as BubbleUPnP or VLC for Android, which work well with Xiaomi TVs and allow you to stream content over the DLNA protocol.
Broadcast from a computer (Windows and macOS)
PC users can also easily display images on a Xiaomi TV. For Windows 10 and 11 owners, this feature is built into the system. Miracast technology allows you to project a laptop or desktop screen wirelessly, which is convenient for watching movies stored on your hard drive or showing documents.
Press the Win + K keyboard. On the right, the Connect panel will open. The system will start searching for available wireless displays. Select your Xiaomi TV. The TV screen may have a request for permission to connect, which you need to confirm with the remote.
For macOS users, the situation is similar to the iPhone: AirPlay is used. If the TV is not visible, make sure that AirPlay is enabled in the TV settings. You can also use the Google Chrome browser on any computer: open the menu (three dots in the corner), select Translate (Cast) and select tabs or the entire screen.
