Xiaomiโs robot vacuum cleaner is a smart device that makes cleaning easier, but sometimes its map of the room gets incorrect. The vacuum cleaner can get lost in familiar rooms, misdirect the route, or refuse to clean the areas altogether. 90% of the time, the problem is solved by resetting the cleaning card, a procedure that returns the clean sheet to the device for a new scan of the room.
In this article, we will discuss all the current ways to reset the map for Mi Robot Vacuum, Dreame, Viomi and other Xiaomi ranges, including devices with LiDAR, gyroscope and visual navigation. You will learn how to do this through the application, physical buttons or service menu, and what to do if the reset did not help.
Why is Xiaomiโs vacuum cleaner building the map wrong?
Before you reset the card, it is important to understand the cause of the failure, most often the problems arise from:
- ๐ Updates to firmware โ new versions of the software may conflict with old cards (especially relevant for models Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Pro and DreameBot). L10s Ultra).
- ๐ฑ App crashes โ if Mi Home or Dreame crashes during sync.
- ๐ Changes in the room โ furniture changes, new obstacles or even a change in lighting (important for models with cameras, such as the Viomi) V3).
- ๐ Battery discharge during card saving (critical for LiDAR devices).
- ๐ค Mechanical damage โ falls, sensor impacts or lens contamination (relevant to Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum) X10+).
If the vacuum cleaner starts to glittle after moving, repairing or upgrading, resetting the card almost always solves the problem, otherwise it may require calibration of the sensors or even flashing.
Method 1: Reset the card via the Mi Home/Dreame app
The easiest and safest method is to use the official app, which is suitable for all modern models (2018-2026), including the Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop P, DreameBot D9 and Viomi SE.
- Open the Mi Home app (or Dreame for the respective models).
- Select your vacuum cleaner from the list of devices.
- Go to the Map section (or Map in English).
- Press three points (โฎ) in the upper right corner and select Clear Map).
- Confirm the action โ the vacuum cleaner will emit an audible signal and restart the navigation system.
In some firmware (for example, for Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum X10+), the option may be called Reset Card or Reset Map. If it is not available, update the application to the latest version.
Start the vacuum cleaner and wait for the Wi-Fi connection
Make sure that the app displays the current map
Close all background apps on your phone
Connect your phone to charge (for connection stability)-->
โ ๏ธ Note: If the vacuum cleaner does not start building a new map after the reset, check the settings of the card mode in the application. Z10 Pro) manually enable the option Save card after reset.
Method 2: Hardware reset (buttons on the body)
If the app doesn't connect to the vacuum cleaner or the card is stuck, a hardware reset will help, which works even without the Internet or a smartphone, but requires accurate execution of instructions.
For most Xiaomi models (including Mi Robot Vacuum 1S, Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Lite) the following is the order of action:
- Turn off the vacuum cleaner with a long press on the power button (3-5 seconds).
- Press the buttons at the same time (๐ ) and food (โป) 10-15 seconds until you hear a beep.
- Release the buttons โ the vacuum cleaner will issue a voice message in Chinese (for models with voice assistant) or flash the indicator.
- Turn on the device with a short press on the power button.
For Dreame vacuum cleaners (e.g. DreameBot D9, L10 Pro), the combination may be different:
Press the Home button (๐ ) and Clean Area (๐ฏ for 10 seconds.
2. After the sound signal, release and immediately press the power button 1 time.
3. wait for the reboot (the indicator will flash blue).| Model vacuum cleaner | Button combination | Sign of successful discharge |
|---|---|---|
| Mi Robot Vacuum 1S | Food + Home (10 sec) | Sound signal + orange blinking |
| DreameBot D9 | Home + Cleaning area (10 seconds) | Voice message in Chinese |
| Viomi V3 | Food + Cleaning (15 seconds) | Blinks white, then blue. |
| Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum X10+ | Food + Pause (8 seconds) | Reboot with voice message |
โ ๏ธ Warning: Hardware reset removes all settings, including cleaning schedules, no-go zones and voice commands. After the procedure, the vacuum cleaner will need to be reconfigured in the application.
What to do if the buttons do not respond?
Method 3: Reset via service menu (for advanced)
Some Xiaomi models (especially the Mi Robot Vacuum 2 and older) have a hidden service menu that allows you to reset the card without a full reboot. This method requires accuracy, since improper actions can lead to a firmware failure.
Instructions for LiDAR vacuum cleaners (e.g. Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Pro):
- Turn on the vacuum cleaner and wait until it makes a welcome sound.
- Press and hold the power button (โป) 5 seconds until you hear a double signal.
- Quickly press the Home button (๐ ) 3 times in a row with an interval of 1 second.
- The vacuum cleaner will go into service mode - the indicator will start flashing red and green.
- Press the Power button again to confirm the card reset.
For Dreame models (such as DreameBot W10), the service menu opens differently:
1. Turn on the vacuum cleaner.
2. Press the "Cleaning Area" button (๐ฏ) for 5 seconds.
3. After vibration, release and press "Home" (๐ ) 1 time.
4. In the service menu, select the option "Map Reset" (scrolling with volume buttons).๐ก
If the vacuum cleaner does not save a new card after resetting through the service menu, try rolling back the firmware to the previous version. To do this, in the Mi Home app, go to Device Settings โ Software Update โ Return to the factory version (not available for all models).
Method 4: Reset via Xiaomi Cloud (for linked accounts)
If the vacuum cleaner is linked to a Mi Account, you can reset the card remotely through the cloud, which is useful if the device is physically inaccessible (for example, in the country).
Step-by-step:
- Open the Mi Home app and go to profile (the person icon in the lower right corner).
- Select Device Management โ find your vacuum cleaner in the list.
- Press three points (โฎ) Next to the device and select Cloud Settings.
- Reset map data (Reset Map Data)
- Confirm the action via SMS or password from your Mi Account.
Note: this method only works for models with cloud sync support (e.g. Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum X10+, DreameBot L10s Ultra).
โ ๏ธ Warning: Cloud reset can take up to 5 minutes. Do not disconnect the vacuum cleaner from the Wi-Fi or close the application. If the process is interrupted, the map may permanently damage.
Method 5: Complete reset to factory settings
If all previous methods failed, it leaves a hard reset, which deletes not only the card, but all settings, including the binding to the Mi Account.
Instructions for most models:
- Turn off the vacuum cleaner.
- Press the power button (โป) 20 seconds โ the device will emit a long beep.
- Release the button and press it again once to turn it on.
- The vacuum cleaner will restart and return to factory settings (the indicator will flash white).
After complete discharge, the following will be required:
- ๐ Re-link the vacuum cleaner to your Mi Account Home/Dreame.
- ๐ก Set up a Wi-Fi connection.
- ๐ Start the first scan of the room (can take up to 30 minutes).
๐ก
A complete reset is the last chance to bring the vacuum cleaner back to life, and if the map is not built after it, the problem may be in the hardware (damaged LiDAR, gyroscope or motherboard).
What if the reset didn't help?
If the vacuum cleaner still works incorrectly after resetting the card, check the following points:
- ๐ฆ Sensor cleanliness: Wipe your LiDAR lens (in models with laser navigation) or your camera (in Viomi) V3, DreameBot L10s Ultra) soft tissue. Dust and dirt distort the scan.
- ๐ถ Wi-Fi signal: The vacuum cleaner must be connected to a 2.4 GHz network (5 GHz is not supported!). If the signal is weak, use a repeater.
- ๐ฑ App Version: Remove Mi Home and install the latest version from the App Store/Google Play.Old versions may not support new firmware.
- ๐ Calibration: Some models (e.g. Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Pro) require calibration after reset. To do this, place the vacuum cleaner on a flat surface and hold the Power button for 5 seconds - it will start rotating to adjust the gyroscope.
If the problem persists, try rolling back the firmware to the previous version (if available) or contact the service center.
- ๐ Bloated battery (interfering with the work of sensors).
- ๐ ๏ธ Damaged LiDAR module (requires replacement).
- ๐ฅ๏ธ Failure in the microprogram (must be stitched through the USB-C or UART).
