Ownership of smart appliances often begins with a pleasant anticipation of comfort, but many users have a problem when they first turn on the device. Xiaomi Vacuum Mop robot vacuum cleaners, especially versions for the Chinese market, often have pre-installed Chinese voiceover and interface. This creates significant discomfort as voice commands and notifications become incomprehensible, turning the smart assistant into a mysterious device.
Fortunately, most modern models support language packet switching, and language change can be done either through an official mobile app or by manipulating the device itself, and it's important to understand that the procedure depends on the specific model of your gadget and the version of the installed software.

Definition of the model and firmware version
Xiaomi’s range is extensive, and the language change methods for the Roborock S5 may differ from the algorithms for the Mijia 1S. Information about the current version of the software is often hidden in voice messages or flashing indicators if the interface is not yet clear.

If there is no standard switch on the menu, you may need to manually download the voice packet.The Xiaomi ecosystem allows third-party or additional language modules to be downloaded through the control menu, which is especially true for models released exclusively for the domestic market of China.
The voice pack menu often displays the current version and available updates. If the language is not on the list, try changing the region in the settings of the Mi Home app itself. Going to China sometimes gives you access to the full list of available language modules for specific models.

It should be noted that voice packets take up space in the internal memory of the device. If the memory is full of cleaning logs, the loading may not begin, in which case it is recommended to clean the history of the cards or reset to factory settings before retrying.
Resetting settings and reconnecting the device
Sometimes changes in settings are not implemented due to in-app caching or faulty connection status, and in these cases, a complete reset of the robot's network settings becomes an effective solution, which will return the Wi-Fi module to pairing mode.
To perform the reset, you need to find a combination of buttons on the body. On most models of Xiaomi Vacuum Mop, you need to simultaneously press the Home and Turn on buttons (or Spot) for 5-10 seconds. The device will report the reset with a voice phrase in Chinese, after which the network indicator will start flashing.

Once reconnected, try checking the voice packet partition again, often forcing the server to update the device profile and offer available language options that were not previously displayed.
Problems with regional versions and servers
One of the most common reasons for not changing the language is to link the device to a specific server. Global versions of vacuum cleaners run on servers Europe or Singapore, while Chinese versions are rigidly tied to the server China.
