Smart kettles Xiaomi has long ceased to be exotic – models Mi Smart Kettle Pro, Viomi V-KETTLE2 And the other ones are taking up space in the kitchens with their precise temperature control, their timers and their ability to control them from their smartphones, but the real magic starts when the teapot integrates with the voice assistant Alice from Yandex. “Alice, boil the kettle by 7am” than digging into the app in a half-sleep state.
However, many users have problems with the connection of devices: the kettle does not appear in Yandex Smart Home, Alice does not see it, or commands are executed with a delay. In this article, we will analyze all the ways of connecting (through Mi Home, Yandex Smart Home and alternative methods), look at typical errors and give recommendations for optimizing work.
The synchronization process can take anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes depending on the kettle model and the current settings of your Xiaomi ecosystem, but the result is worth the effort – once set up, you can control the kettle with your voice, create complex scenarios (for example, “when the alarm goes off, turn on the kettle and the coffee machine”), and even monitor power consumption through in-app statistics.
1.Compatible models of Xiaomi kettles
Not all Xiaomi smart kettles support integration with Alice, here is the current list of models that can be connected to the voice assistant via Yandex Smart Home or Mi Home:
- 🔹 Mi Smart Kettle Pro (model) SKV4038CN) — flagship with 12 temperature modes and support for Wi-Fi 5.
- 🔹 Viomi V-KETTLE2 (V-KETTLE2) — Budget version with basic functions and voice control.
- 🔹 Xiaomi Smart Kettle 1S (SKV4021CN) — A model that is outdated, but still compatible.
- 🔹 Mi Smart Kettle 2S (SKV4045CN) — Updated version with improved thermoregulation.
- 🔹 Redmi Smart Kettle (SKV4056CN) — most affordable model in the lineup.
⚠️ Note: Xiaomi teapots with Bluetooth-only support (such as some versions of the Mi Smart Kettle Lite) cannot be connected to Alice.
If your model is not on the list, check its article (indicated on the box or sticker under the kettle) and check with the official Mi Home device database. An alternative way is to try adding a kettle manually through Yandex Smart Home (we will talk about this in section 4).
2.Preparation for connection: what to do in advance
Before linking the kettle to Alice, make sure all the preliminary steps are followed. Skipping at least one point can lead to synchronization errors.
Install the Mi Home app (version no lower than 6.5.0)
Create a Xiaomi account and sign in.
Connect the kettle to Wi-Fi via Mi Home
Update the kettle firmware to the latest version
Install the Yandex application with Alice (version no lower than 23.12)
Enable geolocation and Bluetooth on your smartphone-->
The teapot must be linked to the server China (Mainland China), Russia or Europe - depending on the model. For example, the Mi Smart Kettle Pro officially supports only the Chinese region, but also works with the European server (manage delays are possible).
If the kettle is already connected to Mi Home but Alice can’t see it, try:
- Reconnect the kettle to Wi-Fi via Settings → The device → Reconnect.
- Remove the kettle from the Mi Home and add it again.
- Check if the Mi Home settings limit access to third-party services (Profile) → Privacy settings → Smart home).
⚠️ Attention: If you are using VPN Or proxy on your smartphone, disable them before connecting. These services can block access to Xiaomi and Yandex servers, which will lead to a synchronization error.
3. Method 1: Connect via Mi Home + Yandex Smart Home
It is the most reliable and officially supported method, and works for most Xiaomi kettles and ensures a stable connection with Alice.
Step 1. Add the kettle to Mi Home
If the kettle is not already connected to the application:
- Open Mi Home and click Add Device (+ icon in the upper right corner).
- Select the category "Kitchen» → «Teapot».
- Follow the instructions on the screen: turn on the kettle, hold the power button 3-5 seconds until the indicator flashes.
- Connect the kettle to your Wi-Fi network (2.4GHz only!)
Step 2 Synchronize Mi Home with Yandex Smart Home
Now you need to link Xiaomi account with Yandex:
- Open the Yandex app (with Alice) and go to the Smart Home section.
- Click "Add device» → «Other devices» → «Xiaomi».
- Enter the username and password from your Mi Home account.
- Allow access to devices (checks for all items).
Step 3: Configure voice control
After synchronization, the kettle will appear in the list of Yandex Smart Home devices.
- Open the kettle card in Yandex Smart Home.
- Press "Settings» → «Name the device" and give it a simple name (e.g., "Kettlepot in the Kitchen»).
- Enable the option of “Voice management”.
- Say the test command: “Alice, turn on the kettle in the kitchen.”
⚠️ Note: If Alice answers "The device is not responding," check:
- 🔌 Is the kettle connected to the socket and is it turned on by a button on the body.
- 📶 Stability of Wi-Fi signal (the kettle must be within a radius of 10 meters from the router).
- 🔄 Update the kettle firmware in Mi Home (Device settings) → Update of the PO).
💡
If the kettle doesn't respond to Alice's commands, try restarting the router and the device itself (unplug for 30 seconds). 70% of the time, this solves the problem.
Method 2: Direct connection via Yandex Smart Home (without Mi Home)
Some models of kettles (for example, Viomi) V-KETTLE2) support direct addition to Yandex Smart Home without prior binding to Mi Home. This method is convenient if you do not want to use the Xiaomi application.
Instructions:
- Open Yandex Smart Home and click “Add Device”.
- Select "Add manually» → Enter the model name (e.g., “Viomi”) V-KETTLE2»).
- Follow the instructions on the screen: turn on the kettle, put it in pairing mode (hold the power button). 5-7 seconds until the blue light flashes).
- Connect the kettle to Wi-Fi (2.4GHz only!).
- Give the device a name and turn on voice control.
⚠️ Note: Directly connected, some features may be limited, for example, in Mi Home there are 12 temperature modes available, and through Yandex Smart Home only 5 (boiling, 80)°C, 90°C and so on.).
| Function | Through Mi Home. | Through Yandex Smart Home |
|---|---|---|
| Accurate temperature setting | ✅ (12 regimes) | ❌ (5 fixed only) |
| Timers and schedules | ✅ (24 tasks) | ✅ (10 tasks) |
| Consumption statistics | ✅ (month-by-month) | ❌ (no data) |
| Voice control | ❌ (Only through Alice) | ✅ (full-time) |
| Automation scenarios | ✅ (via Mi Home) | ✅ (via Yandex) |
If you want all the functions of the kettle, you should use the first method (via Mi Home), and direct connection will be suitable for basic control.
5. Solving typical problems
Even when you set it up properly, users are faced with errors, and here are the most common problems and solutions.
Problem 1: Alice can't see the kettle after synchronization
Causes and solutions:
- 🔄 Cache of the application: Clear the Yandex Smart Home cache in the smartphone settings (Settings) → Annexes → Yandex → Memory. → Clear the cache).
- 🌍 Account Region: Make sure that the server is China or Russia (if the teapot is officially purchased).
- 🔌 Blocking by router: In the settings of the router, check whether the kettle is not on the “black list» (MAC-filtering).
Problem 2: The teapot is plugged in but not responding to commands
What to do:
- 📡 Check the strength of the Wi-Fi signal: the kettle must show at least 3 network divisions in the Mi Home.
- ⚡ Reset the kettle: unplug from the socket for 1 minute, then turn it on again.
- 🔄 Update the firmware of the kettle and applications (Mi Home and Yandex) to the latest versions.
Problem 3: Error "Device not available"
If the kettle was previously working, but Suddenly became unavailable, 90% of the time the fault of cloud synchronization between Xiaomi and Yandex is to blame.
- Open Mi Home and check the status of the kettle (should be “Online”).
- If you are “Offline”, remove the kettle from Mi Home and add it again.
- In Yandex Smart Home, click “Update the list of devices” (circle arrow icon).
What do you do if nothing helps?
6.Voice commands to control the kettle
After successfully connecting, you can use the following commands (examples for a kettle named “Kitchen Teapot”):
- 🗣 «Alice, turn on the kettle in the kitchen - the start of heating to 100°C.
- 🗣 «Alice, heat the kettle in the kitchen to 80 degrees - setting a specific temperature.
- 🗣 «Alice, Turn Off the Kitchen – Stop Heating.
- 🗣 «Alice, put the timer on the kettle for 7:00" - heating on schedule.
- 🗣 «Alice, how much water is in the kettle? – current volume query (does not work on all models).
⚠️ Attention: Alice does not support complex commands like “heat the kettle to 90 degrees and turn it off in 5 minutes.
If Alice doesn't understand the team, try:
- Reframe the phrase (for example, “boil the kettle” instead of “turn on the kettle”).
- Check if the name of the kettle conflicts with other devices (for example, if you have a kettle and an electric kettle, Alice may get confused).
- Update the voice command database in Alice settings (Settings) → Voice assistant → Update teams).
7 Additional features: scenarios and automation
Connecting a kettle to Alice opens up access to complex scenarios that will make your morning more comfortable.
- ☕ When the alarm goes off at 6:30, turn on the kettle, coffee machine and light in the kitchen».
- 🏠 No-one's Home Mode: If Everyone Left Home, Turn Off the Kettle and Iron».
To create a script in Yandex Smart Home:
- Open the section “Scripts» → «Create a script».
In Mi Home, automation is set up in a similar way, but there are more conditions available (for example, a bundle with door opening sensors or weather conditions).
💡
The kettle scenarios work more stable if all the devices (kettle, sockets, sensors) are connected to the same ecosystem (either only through Yandex, or only through Mi Home).
