Why synchronize the robot vacuum cleaner Xiaomi with Yandex Station?
Voice control of the robot vacuum cleaner through Alice saves time and makes cleaning as convenient as possible. Imagine, instead of looking for a remote or opening the Mi Home app, you just say, "Alice, run the vacuum cleaner in the living room." The system will determine the location, turn on the device and even set up the cleaning mode. But how does it work?
Synchronization of the robot vacuum cleaner Xiaomi with Yandex Station is carried out through cloud services Mi Home and Yandex Smart Home. The main condition is that both devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network and are tied to your Xiaomi account. However, not all models support direct integration: for example, older versions of the Mi Robot V1 can require workarounds, while the new DreameBot Z10 Pro or Viomi V3 are connected in two clicks.
In this article, we will discuss 3 official synchronization methods (via Mi Home, Yandex Smart Home and Alice), as well as take a look at common errors that interfere with connection. If your vacuum cleaner does not appear in the list of devices, do not rush to reset the settings: in 90% of cases, the problem is solved by setting up the region in Mi Home or updating the firmware.
What models of Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaners are supported?
Not all Xiaomi devices are compatible with Yandex Station. Officially supported models are divided into two groups:
- 🔹 Full support (voice control, cleaning areas, schedule): Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Pro, DreameBot D9/L10s Ultra, Viomi V2/V3, Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop P.
- 🔸 Partial support (basic commands only): Mi Robot V1, Mi Robot Vacuum 1S, Roidmi Eve Plus (requires manual tuning through the IFTTT).
- ❌ Not supported: older models without cloud synchronization (e.g. Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner) 1st Gen 2016).
To check the compatibility of your model:
- Open the Mi Home application → go to Profile → Settings → Smart Home → Yandex.
- If the option to Connect to Yandex is active, your vacuum cleaner is supported.
- If you don’t have an option, check your account region (Russia or China, not Europe).
Preparation before connection: 5 mandatory steps
Before synchronizing, make sure all the preconditions are met, and skipping at least one item will lead to errors such as "Device not found" or "Disconnected".
Install the latest version of the Mi Home app (at least 6.5.0)
Connect the robot vacuum cleaner to Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz! only)
Link the vacuum cleaner to your Xiaomi account (not local!)
Install Yandex Smart Home app (version 23.12+)
Check that Yandex Station is connected to the same Wi-Fi as the vacuum cleaner-->
Critical point: robot vacuum cleaner and Yandex Station should be on the same Wi-Fi network 2.4 GHz. Many modern routers share networks in 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz with the same name (SSID), but Xiaomi devices often “do not see” 5-gigahertz network.
⚠️ Warning: Disable the Smart Connect (or Band Steering) function in the router settings – it automatically switches devices between frequencies, which prevents the vacuum cleaner from connecting consistently.
| Problem. | Reason. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| The vacuum cleaner is not in Mi Home | The wrong account region | Change the region to Russia in the profile settings |
| Yandex does not see the vacuum cleaner | The device is not added to the Mi Home | Reconnect the vacuum cleaner to your Xiaomi account |
| Error "Cannot be synchronized" | Outdated vacuum cleaner firmware | Update the software through Settings → Update in Mi Home |
| Alice doesn't recognize commands. | Not configured alias devices | Select aliases in Yandex Smart Home (for example, “vacuum cleaner”, “robot”) |
Method 1: Connect via Mi Home (official method)
This is the most reliable method that works for most models, and the instructions are relevant for versions of the Mi Home 6.5.0 and higher.
- Open Mi Home → Select your robot vacuum cleaner → click on... (three dots) in the upper right corner → Settings.
- Scroll down to the Smart Home block → select Yandex.
- Click Connect → the system will redirect you to the Yandex application.
- In Yandex Smart Home, confirm the addition of the device. If the vacuum cleaner does not appear, update the page or restart the application.
If the Yandex button is not in the vacuum cleaner settings, your account is linked to the China Mainland region to fix:
- Go to Profile → Settings → Region.
- Change to Russia (all devices will be turned off!).
- Add the vacuum cleaner to the Mi Home again.
💡
If after changing the region the vacuum cleaner does not connect - remove it from Mi Home, reset the settings (press the power button for 10 seconds) and add again.
Method 2: Manual addition via Yandex Smart Home
If the official sync doesn’t work (for example, for Roidmi Eve Plus), try adding the vacuum cleaner manually:
- Open the Yandex application → go to the Smart Home section.
- Click Add Device → Choose Other → Xiaomi.
- In the list, find your vacuum cleaner model (if not, choose the nearest one, for example, Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 instead of Viomi V3).
- Enter the username and password from the Xiaomi account to which the vacuum cleaner is tied.
Once added, the device will appear in the list, but voice commands may not work properly.
- 🔧 Set aliases in the device settings (for example, “vacuum cleaner”, “robot”, “cleaner»).
- 📍 Configure rooms in Mi Home and sync them with Yandex Maps.
- 🔄 Restart Yandex Station (turn off power for 30 seconds).
What if Yandex asks for “permission to access devices”?
Method 3: Voice setting via Alice (for power users)
If the first two methods didn’t work, you can try connecting the vacuum cleaner with a voice through Alice, which is suitable for devices that are already added to Yandex Smart Home, but do not respond to commands.
Tell Yandex Stations:
Alice, find my devices.
Alice, update the list of smart devices
Alice, connect the vacuum cleaner to the smart homeIf the vacuum cleaner is not detected:
- Make sure that the option of Cloud Sync is enabled in Mi Home (in the device settings).
- Check that there are no duplicate devices in Yandex Smart Home (remove old entries).
- Restart your router – sometimes DHCP-server forgets the binding IP-device addresses.
⚠️ Note: If after the voice command Alice answers "I don't know such a device", but the vacuum cleaner is displayed in the Yandex application - the problem is the mismatch of names»).
Set up voice commands to control the vacuum cleaner
Once the connection is successful, you have to configure voice control, and by default, Alice understands the basic commands:
- 🎤 «Alice, turn on the vacuum cleaner - start cleaning.
- 🛑 «Alice, stop the vacuum cleaner.
- 🏠 «Alice, start cleaning in the living room" - zone cleaning (requires map binding).
- 🔋 «Alice, send the vacuum cleaner to the base - return to the docking station.
To add custom commands (e.g., “clean up under the couch”):
- Open Yandex Smart Home → Choose a vacuum cleaner → Scenarios.
- Create a new script with the voice command trigger.
- Add an action like: Start cleaning in the zone → [Select zone].
An example of an advanced scenario:
Trigger: Voice command "Alice, General Cleanup"
Action:
1. Run the vacuum cleaner at full capacity
2. Insert the moping mode
3.Install double cleaning
4. Send notification to the phone at completion💡
To operate the area cleaning through Alice, you need to have a map of the room loaded into the Mi Home and the rooms marked. Without a map, kitchen cleanup teams won't work!
Typical errors and their solutions
Even with the right setup, you can get a failure. TOP-5 problems and solutions:
| Mistake. | Reason. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Device offline in Yandex Smart Home | Vacuum cleaner not connected to Wi-Fi | Check the Wi-Fi indicator on the vacuum cleaner (should burn blue). Reboot the router. |
| Alice says "The device is not responding" | Conflict IP-address | Reserve IP for the vacuum cleaner in the router settings (DHCP Reservation). |
| Commands are executed with a delay | Xiaomi servers in China | Change your account region to Russia or use a VPN to connect. |
| Vacuum cleaner doesn't save map | Weak Wi-Fi signal | Install a Wi-Fi repeater or move the router closer to the docking station. |
| Error "Can't add the device" | Two-factor authentication in Mi Home | Turn off 2FA in Xiaomi account settings for the connection time. |
If none of these methods worked, check if your provider is blocking Xiaomi traffic, and if some operators (like Rostelecom) are restricting access to foreign servers, the solution is:
- 🌍 Use it. DNS from Google (8.8.8.8) or Cloudflare (1.1.1.1).
- 🔒 Set up a static route for api.io.mi.com and ot.io.mi.com domains.
