Modern robot vacuum cleaners are no longer just a toy for geeks and have become indispensable assistants in maintaining cleanliness. Xiaomi Vacuum 1C model stands out from the competition advanced laser navigator LDS, which allows you to build accurate maps of the room. However, to work correctly, you need to perform a competent initial configuration and pairing with a smartphone.
Many users are struggling to connect to Wi-Fi or create virtual walls, and in this article we will take a look at the entire process, from unpacking to fine-tuning cleaning modes, and learn how to avoid common mistakes and make the equipment work at full capacity.
Preparation of the device for the first launch
Before you start the initial setup procedure, you need to properly prepare the device itself. Remove the robot vacuum cleaner from the box and remove all transport tapes, including protection from the side brush and sensors. Pay special attention to the dust container: it must be installed before clicking, otherwise the device will not turn on.
Charging the battery is a critical step: Put the dock against the wall, providing free space on the sides (minimum 0.5 meters) and in the front (1.5 meters). Connect the power supply to the socket and install the vacuum cleaner on the base. The charging indicator should light up in orange, signaling the process of energy storage.
β οΈ Warning: Do not start wet cleaning or mapping if the battery is below 20%, which can lead to interruption of the cycle and incorrect storage of data about the layout.
Xiaomi 1C requires a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network to work smoothly. If your router is broadcasting two networks (2.4 and 5GHz) under the same name, temporarily split them in your router settings or turn off 5GHz while pairing. This is the most common cause of connection problems.
Installation of the application and registration of the account
The robot is controlled exclusively through a mobile app. For Xiaomi and Mijia ecosystem devices, the best choice is the Mi Home app. Download it from the official Google Play store or the App Store, avoiding third-party resources that may contain modified versions.
Once installed, start the app and create an account if you don't have one. When registering, it's important to choose the right region. For vacuum cleaners bought in the CIS and Europe, the "Russia" or "Germany" region is usually the right one. Choosing the wrong region can lead to the device simply not being found on the network.
Adding the device occurs through a button "+" In the upper right corner of the interface, the app will suggest scanning. QR-code located under the vacuum cleaner cover, or select a model from the list manually. Find in the category "Vaccines and floor cleaners" model Xiaomi Vacuum 1C (often referred to as STYTJ01ZHM).
Connection process for Wi-Fi network
The most important thing is pairing the robot with the router. When you select the model in the application, you will start searching for the device. Make sure the vacuum cleaner is on the Wi-Fi indicator. If it flashes slowly, press and hold the two buttons on the case (usually the on button and the return button to the base) for 3-5 seconds.
Once you reset the network settings, the indicator will flash quickly, at which point the application needs to enter the password for your Wi-Fi network, and be careful when you enter: the character register matters, and unnecessary spaces are not allowed.
βοΈ Checklist of successful connection
The data transfer process can take anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes, during which time the phone should be in close proximity to the robot. If the connection fails the first time, try temporarily turning off mobile Internet (4G/5G) on the smartphone, leaving only Wi-Fi.
β οΈ Note: Using a guest Wi-Fi network or corporate networks with authorization through a web page (captive portal) will not allow the vacuum cleaner to access the Internet.
First scan of the room and create a map
Once successfully connected, Xiaomi 1C will offer the first scan, freeing the floor from unnecessary items such as wires, toys, socks and chairs with bars at the floor. Laser vision LDS must have unobstructed view to build accurate geometry of the room.
Start Map mode or simply turn on a full cleaning. The robot will zigzag, exploring the perimeter and internal obstacles, and it is not recommended to interrupt this process, as this can lead to tears on the map or incorrect identification of rooms.
| Parameter | Description | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Lighting | The brightness of the light in the room | Daylight or lamps on |
| Obstacles | Floor objects | Remove anything above 2 cm |
| Doors. | Access to rooms | Open all doors for scanning |
| Charge. | Battery level | At least 50% before the start |
When you finish scanning, you'll see a plan of the apartment on your smartphone screen, and the system will automatically try to delineate the rooms, and if the algorithm is wrong, you can manually merge or divide the zones, and also rename them for easy control.
What do I do if the card is gone?
Configuring virtual walls and forbidden areas
One of the key features of intelligent navigation is the ability to create virtual constraints, which is important for protecting long-pile carpets, areas with frequently scattered toys, or places where a bowl of water for pets is located.
In the app, go to map editing mode. You can select two types of constraints: "No-go zone" (a square where the robot will not go) and "Virtual wall" (a line you cannot cross).
The restrictions are linked to a specific map, so if you move the vacuum cleaner to another house or apartment, the old zone settings won't work until you switch to the corresponding stored map, and this allows you to use one machine in multiple locations.
β οΈ Warning: Virtual walls are invisible to the robot's sensors. If you physically move the vacuum cleaner base, be sure to check the relevance of the configured no-go zones relative to the new position.
Power and cleaning adjustments
Xiaomi Vacuum 1C offers flexible suction force tuning. In the standard "Quiet" mode, the device works almost silently, but may not cope with large debris. The "Standard" mode is optimal for daily cleanliness on hard coatings.
For carpeting and deep cleaning, Turbo or Max mode is recommended, and in this mode, the suction power is increased to 2500 Pa, which allows dust to be pulled from the depths of the pile, but battery life in this mode is significantly reduced.
π‘
Use Turbo mode only on carpets, on hard surfaces (laminate flooring, tile) this creates excessive noise and consumes battery power without any visible improvement in cleaning quality.
You can also adjust the mode of operation of the side brush. In the "Carpets" mode, the brush rotates constantly, and on hard floors it can turn off or work intermittently to avoid putting away large debris. These parameters are configured in the settings menu of a specific cleaning mode.
Maintenance and elimination of frequent errors
For long-term use, the main components must be cleaned regularly; the main HEPA filter should be shaken out once a week and changed every 3-6 months depending on the dustiness of the room; the dust container is emptied after each cleaning.
A common problem is getting the main brush stuck, and if the robot reports an error, flip it over, remove the protective grate, and clean the shaft of the wound hair and threads, often with a special knife tool.
π‘
Regular cleaning of sensors (wiping dry cloth) and wheels from dust prevents 90% of navigation errors and failures in map construction.
If the robot is lost or no longer responsive to commands, try rebooting. Press and hold the on button on the case for 10 seconds before turning off, then turn on again. In extreme cases, resetting to factory settings through simultaneous clamping of the return and on buttons.
