Connecting Xiaomi’s robot vacuum cleaner to Yandex’s voice assistant Alice opens up new management options: you can now start cleaning with your voice, check device status, or pause work without having to use the Mi Home app. However, the integration process is often questionable – especially for users who are first to face a smart home setup.
In this article, we will look at all the steps of connection, from account preparation to solving typical sync errors. Particular attention will be paid to new models from 2023 to 2026 (for example, Xiaomi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Ultra or DreameBot X30 Ultra), which require additional steps due to updated safety protocols. If your vacuum cleaner is released before 2020, check the section on compatibility - some older devices may not support direct integration with Alice.
Before you start, make sure you have:
- 📱 Smartphone with installed applications Mi Home (or Dreamehome for devices brand Dreame) and Yandex with Alice.
- 🔌 Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaner connected to Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz networks only!).
- 🔑 Xiaomi (or Dreame) account tied to the same region as the device.
1.Check compatibility of Xiaomi vacuum cleaner with Alice
Not all Xiaomi robot vacuum cleaner models support integration with Alice.
- 🔹 Brand and Series: Officially supported Mi Robot Vacuum, Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop, Viomi and Dreame (after 2019) Deerma or Roidmi vacuum cleaners may require workarounds.
- 🔹 Firmware: The device must run on the minimum version of the software 3.5.8_003077 (checks in the settings → About the device in the Mi Home app).
- 🔹 Account Region: Xiaomi account must be registered in Russia, Europe or China (for global firmware models.
| Model vacuum cleaner | Alice's support | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Pro | ✅ Yes. | Requires a binding via Mi Home (China/Europe) |
| DreameBot D9 | ✅ Yes. | Use the Dreamehome app |
| Viomi V3 | ✅ Yes. | Synchronization only through Mi Home |
| Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum 1S | ⚠️ Partially. | Manual addition is required through Yandex Smart Home |
| Deerma DEM-VC20 | ❌ No. | No official support, unstable workarounds are possible |
⚠️ Note: If your model is not listed, check it out on Alice's Skills Catalog site. Some new devices (e.g. Xiaomi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Ultra) may require firmware updates to the latest version before connecting.
2.Preparation of accounts: Mi Home and Yandex
Before connecting the vacuum cleaner to Alice, you need to synchronize Xiaomi and Yandex accounts, a step that is often missed, causing errors such as “Device not found”.
Instructions for training:
- Open the Mi Home app (or Dreamehome for Dreame devices).
- Go to Profile → Settings → Smart Home → Yandex.
- Click “Connect” and log in to the Yandex account to which Alice is attached.
- Allow access to the device data (importantly! without this, Alice will not see the vacuum cleaner).
If the item "Yandex" in the settings is not:
- 🔄 Update the Mi Home app to the latest version.
- 🌍 Check your account region: go to Profile → Settings → Region and select "Russia" or "Mainland China" (for Chinese firmware).
- 📱 Install the application “Yandex Smart Home” – sometimes synchronization works only through it.
3. Adding a vacuum cleaner to the Yandex application
After synchronizing accounts, we move on to adding the device to the Yandex ecosystem, which may vary depending on the vacuum cleaner model.
Method 1: Automatic detection (for most models):
- Open the Yandex app and go to the Devices section (the house icon in the bottom menu).
- Click "Add device» → «Robot vacuum cleaner».
- Choose the Xiaomi brand (or Dreame/Viomi).
- The system will automatically find your vacuum cleaner - confirm the connection.
Method 2: Manual addition (if the automatic does not work):
- In the Yandex app, go to Devices → Add manually.
- Select “Smart Home” → “Robot vacuum cleaner” → “Xiaomi”.
- Enter the username and password from the Mi Home account (if necessary).
- Select your device from the list.

⚠️ Note: If the vacuum cleaner does not appear in the list of devices, check if it is linked to another Xiaomi account. → Devices and remove the device if it is duplicated.
4.Setting up voice control via Alice
After successfully adding a vacuum cleaner to the Yandex app, it remains to configure voice commands. Alice supports basic functions: start cleaning, return to base, pause and check status.
To check your fitness, tell Alice:
- 🎤 «Alice, turn on the vacuum cleaner - start cleaning.
- 🎤 «Alice, stop cleaning. — pause.
- 🎤 «Alice, send the vacuum cleaner to the base" - return to the docking station.
- 🎤 «Alice, how much charge the vacuum cleaner has – checking the battery level.
If Alice replies, “The device is not responding,” follow these steps:
- Reboot the vacuum cleaner (hold the power button for 10 seconds).
- In the Mi Home app, check that the device is online (the cloud icon must be green).
- Turn off and reconnect the vacuum cleaner to Wi-Fi.
- Update the vacuum cleaner firmware through Settings → Software update.
💡
If Alice doesn’t recognize your model name, try renaming the device Mi Home to a simple name (such as “Vacuum Kitchen”) without spaces or special symbols.
5. Solving typical connection errors
Even when you set it up properly, users often encounter errors, and let's look at the most common ones and how to fix them.
| Mistake. | Reason. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| "No device found" | Vacuum is not synced to Mi Home or linked to another account | Check the binding in Mi Home → Profile → Devices. Delete duplicates. |
| "No access to the device" | No permission for integration with Yandex | Go to Mi Home → Profile → Settings → Smart Home → Yandex and repeat authorization. |
| "The offline device" | Vacuum cleaner not connected to Wi-Fi or Xiaomi servers not available | Reboot the router and vacuum cleaner. Check the 2.4GHz network connection. |
| "Unknown Mistake" | Outdated firmware or regional restrictions | Update the vacuum cleaner software and check the region of the Xiaomi account (must be Russia/China). |
If none of these methods worked, try an alternative method of connecting via the Yandex Smart Home API:
- Install Yandex Smart Home Skill for developers.
- Get the token access to the Xiaomi API through unofficial tools.
- Add the device manually through JSON-Configuration (technical skills required).
What if the vacuum cleaner is connected, but Alice can't see it?
6. Advanced settings: scripts and automation
Once connected successfully, you can set up automatic vacuum scenarios, such as running your cleaning schedule or when you leave the house.
Examples of scenarios in the Yandex application:
- ⏰ Schedule: “Run the vacuum every day at 10:00 if no one is home” (use geofences or presence sensors).
- 🔄 According to the event: “If the humidity is above 60%, turn on the vacuum cleaner with wet cleaning” (needs a hygrometer Xiaomi).
- 🚪 Geolocation: “Start cleaning when everyone leaves home” (based on smartphone data).
To create a script:
- Open the Yandex application → “Smart home” → “Scenarios”.
- Click “Create a script” → “Add a condition” (e.g., “Time” or “Geolocation”).
- Select the action: “Device Management” → your vacuum cleaner → “Start cleaning.”
- Save the script and activate it.
💡
To work geo-dependent scenarios, you need to enable access to geodata in the phone settings for the Yandex application.
7.Compatibility with other ecosystems (Google Home, Home Assistant)
If you use not only Alice, but also other smart home platforms (such as Google Home or Home Assistant), Xiaomi vacuum cleaner can be integrated there.
- 🏠 Google Home: Requires a connection via Mi Home followed by a link to Google Assistant. Voice commands will be limited (for example, you can not specify a cleaning area).
- 🤖 Home Assistant: Full integration through Xiaomi Miio component. Allows you to manage all the functions, including setting the suction power and selecting a room.
- 🍎 Apple HomeKit: Not officially supported, but HomeBridge integration is possible (requires a Raspberry Pi or always-on PC).
For Home Assistant, configuration example (configuration.yaml):
vacuum:
- platform: xiaomi_miio
host: 192.168.1.100 # IP- vacuum cleaner address
token: YOUR_TOKEN #Token from Mi Home
name: "Xiaomi Vacuum"To get a token, use the MiHome Token Extractor tool.
