Have you noticed that mobile internet on Xiaomi is running out too fast? Or want to know which app eats up the most traffic? In this article, we will look at all the ways to check Internet consumption on Redmi, POCO and other Xiaomi models, from embedded tools to third-party apps and carrier services.
Whether you’re using the mobile internet or connected to Wi-Fi, traffic control will help you avoid unexpected costs and optimize your device, show you how to look at the statistics for the day, week or month, and teach you how to set up notifications when you exceed the limit.
All methods have been tested on current versions of MIUI 14 and HyperOS, but most of them work on older firmware. If your Xiaomi model is released before 2018, some menu items may differ, we will warn you about this separately.
1. Check traffic through Xiaomi settings (built-in statistics)
The easiest way is to use the built-in traffic metering feature in MIUI, which works without any additional applications and shows the data consumption for each application.
- Open Settings (the gear icon on the main screen).
- Go to Connections and Sharing → Data Use.
- Select the Mobile Data tab (for SIM- cards) or Wi-Fi (for wireless networks).
- Scroll down to see the list of apps and their traffic consumption.
At the top of the screen, you can see the total expenditure for the current billing period (usually a month). To manually reset the statistics, click on the three dots in the upper right corner and select Reset the statistics.

If you have a two-sim Xiaomi, traffic statistics will be shown separately for each SIM- card. Switch between them using the drop-down menu at the top of the screen.
In this section, you can also set a warning about exceeding the limit:
- 📱 Set a monthly traffic limit in the Data Warning field.
- 🔔 Enable Automatically Shut Down Mobile Data if you want to completely block the Internet when you exceed the limit.
- 📊 Click on any app in the list to see detailed statistics by day.
⚠️ Warning: Built-in statistics are reset automatically at the beginning of each billing period (usually the 1st). If you change the date on your phone manually, the data may be distorted.
2. How to view traffic on a particular application
If you need to know how much traffic is consumed by, say, TikTok or YouTube, do the following:
- Go to Settings → Connections and Sharing → Data Use.
- Select the Mobile Data tab.
- Scroll through the list of apps and tap on the desired (for example, Instagram).
- A schedule with the current period of expenditure and the ability to limit background traffic will open.
You can also prevent the app from using the mobile Internet in the background.

- 🚫 To completely block internet access for the application, click Limit Data.
Please note that some system applications (such as Google Play Services) may consume traffic even without your knowledge.

3.Use widgets for quick traffic control
So, to avoid going into the settings every time, add a traffic meter widget to the home screen.
- Press and hold your finger in the free place of the main screen.
- Select Widgets from the bottom menu.
- Find the Data Use widget (usually in the Tools category).
- Drag it to the screen and select a size (e.g. 2×2 or 4×1).
The widget will show:
- 📶 Total mobile traffic consumption per month.
- 📉 Percentage of the set limit.
- 🔄 Quick switch to data settings.
On some Xiaomi models (such as the Redmi Note 12 or POCO X5), the widget also displays Wi-Fi consumption. If it is not on the list, upgrade to the latest version.

4. Traffic check through the operator’s application
Many mobile operators (MTS, Beeline, MegaFon, Tele2) provide their own traffic control apps, and they show accurate statistics with bonuses and promotions, which is not found in Xiaomi’s built-in tools.
Here’s how it works with the MTS example:
- Download the official My MTS app from Google Play.
- Sign in to the phone number.
- Go to the section My tariff → Details.
- Select the Internet to see traffic consumption for the current period.
Advantages of this method:
- 📊 The data is updated in real time (without delay, as in embedded statistics).
- 💰 Shows the remaining traffic with the connected options in mind.
- 📅 There's a history of spending over the past months.
⚠️ Warning: If you use an eSIM or a virtual carrier (e.g. Yota or Tinkoff Mobile), check if their app supports traffic detailing.

5. Third-party applications for traffic accounting
If Xiaomi’s built-in tools aren’t enough, install a dedicated app.
- 📊 Internet Speed Meter Lite – shows the speed of the Internet and the traffic consumption in the notification panel.
- 📈 My Data Manager is a detailed statistics on applications with the ability to set limits.
- 🛡️ GlassWire visualizes traffic flow as a graph and blocks suspicious connections.
- 🔍 NetGuard not only counts traffic, but also manages the access of applications to the Internet (requires root rights for full functionality).
Example of Internet Speed Meter Lite settings:
- Install the app from Google Play.
- Open it and press Start.
- In settings (⚙️), select Show in the notification bar.
- Set a monthly traffic limit in the Warnings section.
Important: Third-party traffic tracking apps can show data with an error of up to 5-10% compared to the operator’s statistics, which is due to the peculiarities of Android and is not a mistake.

6. Check traffic through USSD-operator
If you can’t use the app or the internet, check the remaining traffic with the USSD- commands. They work for all Xiaomi, regardless of the model and firmware version.
Here are the main commands for popular operators:
- 📱 MTS: Dial *100*1# and press "Call».
- 📱 Beeline: *102#.
- 📱 MegaFon: *105*00#.
- 📱 Television2: *155*0#.
- 📱 Yota: *104#.
After dialing the command, you will get a SMS with information about the traffic balance, minutes and SMS. Some operators (for example, MegaFon) have an extended USSD- menu where you can see the details for the current day:

*105*00*2# - Detailed by call⚠️ Warning: USSD- Commands may vary by region, and if the command fails, check it on your operator's official website or in the app.

USSD- commands are the most reliable way to check traffic when you don’t have access to the Internet or the operator’s application, and they work even on a locked phone (if the call screen is unlocked).
7.Reset traffic statistics and set up notifications
To be accurate, Xiaomi’s data logs need to be reset at the beginning of each billing period.
- Open Settings → Connections and Sharing → Data Use.
- Click on the three dots in the upper right corner.
- Choose Reset Statistics.
- Confirm the action.
We also recommend setting up notifications about exceeding the limit:
- 🔔 In the same section (Use of Data), enable the option Data Warning.
- 📅 Set the date of the reset (usually the 1st day of the month).
- 📶 Set a threshold (e.g. 10 GB out of 15 GB).
If you use multiple SIM- cards, set up notifications for each individual.
- In the Data Use section, select the desired SIM- card from the top menu.
- Re-set the limits and notifications.
Some Xiaomi models (such as the Redmi 10 or POCO M4 Pro) have an option called Automatic Mobile Data Disconnection, which will shut down the internet if it is turned on, which will help to avoid additional costs.
8. Frequent problems and their solutions
Sometimes the traffic statistics on Xiaomi are not working properly, and here are the most common problems and ways to solve them:

If the data is still incorrect after resetting the statistics, try:
- 🔄 Reboot the phone.
- 📱 Update the firmware to the latest version.

On HyperOS models (such as Xiaomi 14 or Redmi K70), the data interface has changed a little, but the logic has remained the same. If you can't find the right partition, search the settings (the magnifying glass icon at the top).
