Your Xiaomi suddenly stopped connecting to Wi-Fi, although other devices are stable? Or does the network appear and disappear, and the speed leaves much to be desired? This problem is familiar to many owners of smartphones of the brand β from budget Redmi to flagship Mi and POCO. 80% of cases are not to blame for hardware failures, but software failures or incorrect settings.
We analyzed hundreds of user complaints on forums (including 4PDA, Mi Community, and XDA Developers) and systematized all possible causes, from a banal disabled module to hidden errors in MIUI firmware.
- π Diagnostics of a problem β how to determine what is wrong: in a phone, router or provider.
- βοΈ Step-by-step instructions to address each of the 10 main causes.
- π Compatibility table for Xiaomi with different Wi-Fi standards (including Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 6) 6E).
- β οΈ Warnings about actions that could aggravate the problem.
Special attention was paid to the unique MIUI 14/15 bugs that appear after updates and require unusual solutions. If you tried to reset the network settings and it did not help, you will find alternative methods here.
1. Checking the basic settings: what could have been missed
Before you dig deeper, make sure that the problem isn't just the basics, and according to service center statistics, 30 percent of all Wi-Fi calls are resolved at this point.
Start with the obvious:
- πΆ Flight mode: check if it is activated in the notification curtain or in Settings β SIM-maps and mobile networks. Even if the icon doesn't burn, sometimes the module stays off after you restart.
- π Reboot devices: Turn off the phone for 30 seconds, then the router (out of the socket!) for 1 minute. DHCP-lyceum.
- π Wi-Fi password: it may have been changed (e.g., the provider has updated the settings.
If your smartphone sees networks but doesnβt connect, try manually adding the network to Settings β Wi-Fi β Add network by specifying:
- Network name (SSID) is exactly like in a router (registration is important!).
- The type of security is usually WPA2-PSK or WPA3-PSK.
- Password β no spaces at the beginning/end.
β οΈ Note: Some Xiaomi models (e.g. Redmi Note 10 Pro) after upgrading to MIUI 14, a manual network input bug appears. If you reset after saving the settings, reset the Wi-Fi settings (see Section 3).

2.Router issues: why other devices work and Xiaomi doesn't
If other gadgets (laptop, tablet) connect to Wi-Fi without problems, and Xiaomi stubbornly ignores the network, the router settings are to blame.
| Problem. | How it manifests | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Incompatible Wi-Fi Standard | Network visible, but connection reset | In the router, set 802.11n (instead of ax or ac) |
| 40/80 MHz channel width | Low speed or breakage | Set 20 MHz in the router settings |
| Filter MAC-address | The network is not visible or the password is not accepted | Turn off the filter or add the phoneβs MAC to the whitelist |
| WPA3 instead of WPA2 | Connection βhangsβ at the stage of obtaining IP | Switch to WPA2-PSK in security settings |
To change the router settings:
- Connect to it from another device (for example, a laptop).
- Enter 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 (the address is indicated on the router sticker).
- Log in (default logins: admin/admin or admin/password).
- Go to Wireless or Wi-Fi and make changes.
For Xiaomi Router models (such as Mi Router 4A or AX3600), the path will be: Settings β Wi-Fi β Additional settings. Here you can update the routerβs firmware β sometimes this solves compatibility problems.
β οΈ Note: If your router supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), But the phone is not (like Redmi). 9A), If you force the ax mode to be activated, you can't connect.

3. Network reset: when and how to do it correctly
If the basic methods don't work, the next step is to reset your network settings, which will delete all stored networks, VPNs, Bluetooth and mobile Internet settings, but will not affect personal data.
Instructions for MIUI 12/13/14:
- Open Settings β Memory β Reset settings.
- Select Network Reset (not to be confused with a full reset!).
- Confirm the action with a password or pattern lock.
- After restarting, try connecting to Wi-Fi again.
On some models (e.g. POCO X3 Pro), the path may be different: Settings β System β Additional β Settings Reset β Reset Wi-Fi, mobile network and Bluetooth.

If after resetting the phone still does not connect - try to change DNS manually. In the Wi-Fi settings (click on the network name) select IP-Address: Static and indicate DNS 8.8.8.8 (Google) or 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare).
If the reset didn't work, check if the phone is power-saving mode for Wi-Fi, which in MIUI can limit background network activity, and it turns off like this.
- Settings β Battery and performance.
- Select Mode Selection β Productivity.
- Turn off the option to limit background traffic.
4. Software failures: cache, firmware and hidden MIUI bugs
MIUI's operating shell is known for its features, which sometimes break basic functionality, and if a problem occurs after an update, it's the software's fault.
Remedies:
- π§Ή Cache Cleanup: Go to Settings β Annexes β Application management. Find settings) β Memory. β Clear the cache. Repeat for the Wi-Fi app (if it's on the list).
- π Update rollback: if the problem started after the update MIUI, Try to roll back. To do this, download the previous firmware version from the official website. Go to Settings. β The phone. β Update the system. Press the three dots at the top. β Select a firmware file.
For models with an unlocked bootloader, you can try flashing custom Recovery (such as TWRP) and clearing the cache and dalvik-cache sections. However, this is risky - without experience you can get a brick.
β οΈ Attention: On Xiaomi 11T Pro and Redmi. K40 post-update MIUI 13.0.6 has a bug that permanently shuts down Wi-Fi when you lock the screen. Solution is to disable Automatic Open Networks in Wi-Fi settings.

If the phone connects to Wi-Fi, but the Internet does not work β the problem is the settings. IP. Try to manually specify IP-address (e.g. 192.168.1.100), subnet mask (255.255.255.0) and gateway (192.168.1.1).
5. Hardware malfunctions: how to recognize and what to do
If none of the software methods worked, it could be the hardware problem.
- π΅ The phone doesnβt see the Wi-Fi network at all (even after a reset).
- π Wi-Fi indicator in the notification curtain is gray and not activated.
- π₯ The phone overheats in the area of the antenna module (upper part of the body).
- π οΈ The problem arose after falling or getting moisture.
