You pick up your Xiaomi, you get an incoming call on the screen, but instead of a regular number or contact name, it's just saying "Unknown" or an empty field? The problem with displaying a brand on your smartphones is more common than you think. The reasons lie in both the settings of the MIUI operating system and the hardware limitations of telecom operators. In this article, we will analyze all possible scenarios, from a banal error in settings to hidden network parameters that prevent you from identifying a subscriber.
It's important to understand that if the numbers were displayed correctly before they were lost, it's often a software failure or firmware update. If the problem has been since the phone was purchased, it could be the lack of AON (Always-On Number) support from your carrier or the regional limitations of the model. We've compiled 7 working methods to help return incoming calls to the Redmi Note 12, POCO X5, Mi 11 and other Xiaomi devices.
1. Check the basic settings of the phone
Before digging deep into network or firmware settings, make sure the problem isn't on the surface. Often users accidentally turn off the display of numbers in the call menu or activate modes that block subscriber identification.
Open the phone application and go to ⋮ → Settings → Additional settings → Caller ID. This should be on:
- 📞 Show the number (if the option is disabled, the phone hides all incoming numbers)
- 🔍 Number Definition (using Xiaomi’s database to recognize spam)
- 📡 Network Identification (allows the operator to transmit caller data)
If everything is enabled but the numbers are still not displayed, please move to the next step. Note that on some models (e.g. Redmi 10C) the path to settings may be different – look for Call Settings or Network Services.

2. resetting network settings and re-registration in the operator's network

- Go to Settings. → SIM-maps and mobile networks → [Choose yours. SIM] → Network settings.
- Click Network Type and select 4G (LTE) Only (if Automotive Mode is available).

If the problem has occurred after the update, you can try to roll back to the previous version of MIUI. However, this is risky and can lead to data loss. Before rolling back, make a backup through Settings → Additional → Backup and Reset.
4.Operator-side problems: AON and limitations
Even if your Xiaomi is fully functional, the carrier can block the transfer of the caller number, which is due to AON (Always-On Number) technology, a service that allows you to display the caller number, and not all operators support it correctly, especially in roaming or on restricted tariffs.
How to check:
- 📶 Call your Xiaomi phone from another phone, and if the number is displayed, it's not the operator.
- 💳 Check with your operator (by call in support or through your personal account) whether the service "Number Identification" is included or «AON».
- 🌍 If you are roaming, contact your home network operator – it is possible that the service is disabled for international calls.
If the numbers are displayed after that, the blocker was the culprit.
- 🔕 In Truecaller: Turn off the option to “Block Unsolicited Calls”** in the settings.
