How to transfer video from iPhone to Xiaomi TV: all the ways from AirPlay to HDMI

Do you want to show photos from your vacation, run an iPhone movie on the big screen or give a presentation, but you don’t know how to connect an iPhone to a Xiaomi TV? This problem is familiar to many users – despite the popularity of the brand, not all models of Mi TV or Redmi TV support standard video transmission protocols directly. In this article, we will discuss all the current ways to display images from an iOS device to a Xiaomi TV, including bypassing typical restrictions and solving frequent errors.

The challenge is that Apple and Xiaomi use different ecosystems, the former focusing on AirPlay and HomeKit, and the latter on Miracast and Google Cast. Before you get to the instructions, check two key things:

1. Wireless streaming via AirPlay (for new Xiaomi TV models)

The easiest way is to use the built-in AirPlay support that Xiaomi has added to its TVs since 2021, which works without additional devices, but requires both the iPhone and the TV to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Step-by-step:

1. Install one of the apps on your iPhone.
2. On your TV, turn on Miracast: Settings → Connections → Wireless display (Miracast).
3. Launch the app on your iPhone and select your Xiaomi TV from the list.

1. Install a media server application on your iPhone, such as Plex or VLC.
2. Upload a video or a photo to it.
3. On the TV, open the Media Player or Gallery app and select your iPhone as the source.

Method 2: Cloud services

Upload the video to Google Drive, Yandex Drive or iCloud, and then open it on your TV via a browser or app. This method is suitable for one-time broadcasts, but not for real-time streaming.

Method 3: USB-C Cable → HDMI (for iPhone 15 and later)

If you have an iPhone 15 or 15 Pro with a USB-C port, you can use a USB-C → HDMI adapter (such as from Anker or Belkin) to output video in resolution up to 4K@60Hz without delay.

Frequent mistakes and their solutions

Even with the right connection, there can be problems.
