Do you want to show pictures from your vacation on the big screen, run a mobile game on your TV or stream a movie with Xiaomi without losing quality? There are at least 5 working ways to bring the image from your smartphone to TV โ from wireless technologies to wired connections. In this article, we will analyze each method with regard to the features of MIUI firmware, supported standards and possible problems.
Importantly, not all Xiaomi TVs and smartphones are compatible out of the box. For example, older Redmi Note 7 models do not support Miracast at the firmware level, and TVs without Google Cast will not be able to receive a signal through Google Home. We will tell you how to get around these restrictions and what to do if the screen is not duplicated or artifacts appear.
Before proceeding to the instructions, check:
- ๐ฑ Smartphone model: new flagships (Xiaomi 14 Ultra, POCO F6 Pro supports all standards and budget models (Redmi) A2) may be limited.
- ๐บ Model TV: modern Xiaomi TV A Pro or Mi TV Q2 They work with most protocols, and older TVs (until 2018) often require additional adapters.
- ๐ Version MIUI: firmware MIUI 12.5 may not have an integrated Wireless Display function.
1. Wireless broadcast over Miracast (built-in MIUI function)
The easiest way to display the screen is to use the Miracast protocol built into MIUI, which works without the Internet, but requires support from the TV, and is suitable for presentations, games and content with minimal latency.
How to turn on:
- ๐ฝ Open the Settings. โ Connections and sharing โ Wireless display (on some models the path may be different: Settings) โ Screen. โ Wireless monitor).
- ๐ Click Device Search โ the smartphone will start scanning available TVs.
- ๐ฅ๏ธ Select your TV from the list. PIN-code, enter it from the remote (usually displayed on the TV screen).
- ๐ Confirm the connection on both devices.
โ ๏ธ Note: Some Samsung TVs and LG Miracast may not work as it does because of protocol conflicts, in which case you can try alternative methods (see Section 3 or 4).
Check if Miracast is enabled in your TV settings (usually under "Network" or "Wireless")|Reboot both devices|Make sure the distance between the smartphone and TV is less than 5 meters.|Update the firmware MIUI last-minute-->
| Xiaomi model | Miracast support | Max, permission. | Delay (MS) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi 13/14 Pro | Yes (MIUI 14+) | 4K@30Hz | ~40-60 |
| POCO F5/X5 Pro | Yes (MIUI 13+) | 1080p@60Hz | ~50-70 |
| Redmi Note 12 | Yes (MIUI 12.5+) | 1080p@30Hz | ~60-80 |
| Redmi A1/A2 | No (adapter required) | โ | โ |
On smartphones with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor (such as Xiaomi 13 Ultra), Miracast supports HDR-content, but only when connected to TVs HDMI 2.1.
2. Connect via Google Cast (Chromecast, Android TV)
If your TV supports Google Cast (built into Android TV or through devices like Chromecast), you can stream the screen through the Google Home app. This method is convenient for streaming videos from YouTube, Netflix or Kodi, but is not suitable for duplicate desktop (only streaming individual apps).
Instructions:
- ๐ฑ Install the Google Home app from the Play Market (if itโs not available by default).
- ๐ง Connect your TV and smartphone to the same Wi-Fi network.
- ๐ฏ Open Google Home, click on your TV icon โ Broadcast my screen โ Start broadcasting.
- ๐บ On the TV screen will appear a notification about the connection โ confirm it.
โ ๏ธ Note: When streaming through Google Cast, the default sound comes from the TV. If you want to leave the sound on your smartphone (for example, for games), use Miracast or HDMI-adapter.
Advantages of the method:
- โ Low latency when watching videos.
- โ Support 4K HDR compatible.
- โ Ability to stream content in the background (e.g., continue to use your phone while watching a movie).
Disadvantages:
- โ Does not duplicate the screen completely โ only supported applications.
- โ Requires stable Wi-Fi (with a weak signal, lags are possible).
3. Wired connection through HDMI-adapter (USB-C/Type-C)
For minimal latency and maximum image quality, use a wired connection via a USB-C โ HDMI adapter. This method is ideal for gamers, video editors or those who work with graphics. Importantly, the adapter should support DisplayPort Alt Mode - cheap "no-name" cables may not work.
How to connect:
- ๐ Buy a certified adapter (recommended by Xiaomi) USB-C to HDMI or Baseus).
- ๐ฑ Connect the adapter to the smartphone, and HDMI-cable.
- ๐ On the TV screen, select the source of the signal (HDMI 1/2).
- ๐ฎ On the smartphone may appear a request for permission to duplicate the screen โ confirm it.
| Adapter model | Max, permission. | Support for HDR | Price (2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi USB-C to HDMI | 4K@30Hz | Yes. | ~1 500 โฝ |
| Baseus USB-C to HDMI 4K | 4K@60Hz | Yes. | ~2 200 โฝ |
| UGREEN USB-C to HDMI | 1080p@60Hz | No. | ~900 โฝ |
โ ๏ธ Note: On smartphones with a Mediatek processor (such as the Redmi Note 12), adapters may not work smoothly.

If the image on the TV is cropped at the edges, go to TV Screen Settings โ Image Mode and select Just Scan or 1:1
4. Broadcasting through third-party applications (ApowerMirror, TeamViewer)
If the built-in methods donโt work, use third-party apps that are suitable for older Xiaomi models or TVs without Miracast/Google Cast support.
1. ApowerMirror (for screen duplication):
- ๐ฑ Install ApowerMirror on your smartphone and PC/TV (if your TV has Android) TV, Download the version for him).
- ๐ Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network.
- ๐ On your smartphone, open the app, select M (Mirror) and find your TV in the list.
- ๐ฎ Confirm the connection on the TV.
2. TeamViewer QuickSupport (for remote control):
- ๐ฑ Install TeamViewer QuickSupport on your smartphone and TeamViewer on a PC connected to your TV.
- ๐ Enter. ID Smartphone in the desktop version of TeamViewer.
- ๐ฅ๏ธ Start the session โ the phone screen will appear on the PC, and you can display the image on TV through it HDMI.
โ ๏ธ Note: Apps like ApowerMirror can display ads and collect data. Before using it, check permissions in Settings. โ Annexes.

5. Connect via Xiaomi Mi TV (specific feature for Xiaomi TV)
If you have a Xiaomi Mi TV (series A Pro, Q2, S Pro), you can use the proprietary Mi Screen Mirroring feature, which is faster than Miracast and supports additional options, such as controlling your phone from the TV remote.
How to set up:
- ๐บ On TV: Settings โ Connection and sharing โ Phone screen.
- ๐ฑ On a smartphone: Settings โ Connections and sharing โ Wireless display.
- ๐ Choose your Mi. TV Confirm the connection on both devices.

- โ Support 4K@60Hz on flagship models.
- โ The ability to use the phone as a remote for TV.
- โ Low latency (around 30 ms).
โ ๏ธ Note: Xiaomi TVs older than 2020 may require firmware upgrades to the latest PatchWall version.
6 Problem Solving: Screen not duplicated, lags, no sound
If there are any errors in connection, use this instruction:
Problem: TV is not on the list of devices
- ๐ Restart the router and both devices.
- ๐ถ Check that your smartphone and TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network (not the guest one!).
- ๐ง On your TV, turn on Miracast or Screen Mirroring manually (usually in network settings).
- ๐ฒ Update the firmware MIUI and on TV.
Problem: Image lagging or slowing down
- ๐ถ Reconnect to 5 GHz network (if the router is dual-band).
- ๐ Use a wired connection (HDMI) wirelessly.
- ๐ผ๏ธ Reduce the screen resolution in the broadcast settings (for example, with 4K before 1080p).
- ๐ Close background applications on your smartphone.
Problem: No sound during broadcast
- ๐ Check if the sound on your TV or smartphone is turned off.
- ๐ง In the broadcast settings, select Transmit the sound to the TV.
- ๐ If you use HDMI-Adapter, try another cable (cheap adapters may not transmit sound).
๐ก
If none of these methods work, check if the antivirus or the Personal Data Protection function in MIUI (Settings โ Privacy) is blocking the broadcast.
